10/1/07 - I removed a substantial amount of inflammatory, apparently politically motivated content from the Edgewood, New Mexico page. This appears to be primarily election-year argument, and is not appropriate for Wikipedia. As the original author of much of the original content of this entry, I would like to ask that people find other venues for airing their differences with the Town government. The area is served by two newspapers, both of which appear willing to print a wide variety of opinions. For Wikipedia, let's stick to facts and hope that we can find a respectful and mutually beneficial means of resolving differences among the people of the Edgewood area.

You have more solid grounds for deleting that material in that is does not have any references to reliable sources. But if that other editor provides well-referenced material then you will have little basis for removing it. Your remark that you are the "original author" carries no weight in the Wikipedia community. (See WP:OWN.)

By the way, a better place for your admonition above is in Talk:Edgewood, New Mexico. When there is a dispute about the content of an article, its Talk page is the right place for each editor to provide an explanation and to try to persuade other editors. Sbowers3 22:32, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

External links for New Mexico articles

Please don't worry that I'm following you around; I watch all of the articles to which you added these links, so it popped up on my watchlist. The links that you posted, as "virtual tours", really aren't the kind of links that are supposed to be here, and the inline links (for example, on Torrance County) either don't belong or should be placed as references for those statements: whether or not you intend it, the manner in which they are placed is improper. Again, please don't think that I bear ill will toward you; were it so, I would have placed multiple warnings on your page instead of explaining the problems on the article talk page and on here. I have not, by the way, violated WP:3RR, which reads "Contributors must not perform more than three reverts...". Nyttend (talk) 00:27, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your thoughtful reply - certainly much better than the one I got from the "editor" assistance request. Your choice of words suggests that there is, in fact, a proper way to post the links, and I'd appreciate your guidance in that respect. The virtual tours really do provide a visual idea of what the communities are like, and a link or reference to EVEDA would be useful. I did all the photography for the virtual tours, and I'm not sure how I can present them without being directly involved. It seems counter-intuitive that links to virtual tours would be prohibited. As for the EVEDA link on Torrance County, are you suggesting that I include it in the References section rather than as a "community organization?"

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

• make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
• Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
