File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Adieuphilippine.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Adieuphilippine.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 00:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 00:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Quotes and italics
[edit]Regarding your edit at César Awards 2010 which reverted part of my edit: following Wikipedia's Manual of Style at WP:MOSQUOTE and WP:MOSTEXT#Quotations, I have reverted you revert. Furthermore, I think the quote is rather long and a bit incoherent, and the article would be better without it. You might consider removing it and replacing it with a one-sentence remark mentioning the tribute. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:51, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
If that's the standard format fine, but I defend this quotes inclusion due to the fact that it was a special segment of the Awards show separate from the official obituary segment and its something I would like to read (and I am not even an enormous Rohmer fan so I believe others would agree).

[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to The Other Side of the Wind. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Oneiros (talk) 01:11, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Template:Fred and Ginger
[edit]Hi Yinzland, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding Template:Fred and Ginger. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}
. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}}
tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. Please do not contact the bot operator for issues not related with bot's behaviour. To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=FrescoBot}}
somewhere on your talk page. -- FrescoBot (msg) 00:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Articles for deletion nomination of Tribute to Eric Rohmer
[edit]I have nominated Tribute to Eric Rohmer, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tribute to Eric Rohmer. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. TheRealFennShysa (talk) 16:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Civility issue
[edit]Posts like this don't foster collaborative editing; they simply want to make me ignore you, or respond in kind. Either way, you missed an opportunity to be both civil and nice there. I hope it was simply you losing your cool there, Yinzland; I don't want to widen the loop on this sort of problem again. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 03:30, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Please do not attack other editors. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. I'm sorry, but you are bringing this on yourself. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 04:20, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think I've made it clear why I've chosen to talk down to you. You actually attempted to hijack a wikipedia page by adding ridiculous and not even all that amusing misinformation simply for your own amusement. You proved this by your original wording of the paragraph and by your countless hypocritical claims of speculation. If this was a serious subject that you were arguing for, I may have respected that. But dude, you're fighting to legitimize misinformation. I have no respect for that. But to cut to the chase (given that this is MY talk page) shut the fuck up you obnoxious little bitch.Yinzland
I would like to ask you to redact your last comment. If you do not within 12 hours, i will ask that you be blocked for yet another personal attack. The clock is running now. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 05:42, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit]You may contest this block by adding the text
{{unblock|Your reason here}}

As a slight aside note, this talk page is not yours. It is provided for you by the wikimedia foundation, and although you are given much latitude with what you can do on it, you can't do anything you want. The article List of Film Directors with Statues has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable intersection. Trivia.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Yea, this was the first page I created (I think), and it may not be the best. I am going to try to find an appropriate page for it to be merged onto, and need some time to do this. - Yinzland (talk) 06:22, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Civility issue, yet again
[edit]- I would appreciate your increased efforts at being more civil, Yinzland. Comments like:
- It's an unfriendly, unflattering and remarkably uncivil comparison - all the more remarkable coming from you, as you have been blocked not that long ago for precisely this sort of behavior. Please dial back the aggression and stop trying to read my intentions; you are profoundly inadequate at it. Be civil, or simply avoid responding to/reverting any posts of mine. It's really that simple. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 05:23, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- You are not above criticism. I am not the first person to refer to you as passive-aggressive and I doubt I will be the last. If you recall you are the one who first instigated personal attacks in just that manner. If you don't like those low standards, please don't be the one to lower them.Yinzland (talk) 06:08, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, I make no pretense to being above criticism. However, you - of all people - should be well aware of what thin ice you tread upon. I did not insult you, nor refer to you as a 5-year old, a thief, or someone trying to game the system. Indeed, I did not refer to you at all in the current conversation, since you are not really part of my consideration. If you are acting out of a previous discussion, you need to either check your behavior far more closely than you have, or go find a Happy Place elsewhere in Wikipedia to edit. I am sure that someone with your prodigious skill set can find something to edit which won't get you into trouble.
- I am simply asking you to dial back the aggression and incivility. I am fairly certain you are aware of what will happen if you cannot/choose to not control your behavior. Let's not have to address this again.
- Btw, I've moved the conversation here because I prefer to keep the entire conversation in one place, and here is where it was initiated. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 07:03, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Please stop adding sensationalized and contradictory comments
[edit]Criticism of the edits of contributor's and their apparent (and transparent) motivations is one of the things that makes Wikipedia Wikipedia, so it is unnecessary for you to add passive-aggressively threatening comments on my talk page. I fail to see how any lines have been crossed in terms of civility. And if YOU are referring to a previous discussion, you need to either check your behavior far more closely than you have, or go find a Happy Place elsewhere in Wikipedia to edit. This comment belongs on your page, as the subject has changed slightly. Happy editing!!;) te he he Yinzland (talk) 17:15, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Again, I've ported the conversation over here, as it would appear that you are continuing the discussion I initiated on your page. Maybe you missed the last paragraph of my previous post.
- To begin with, your description of my behavior as "passive-aggressive" is flat out wrong. I saw a behavior pattern re=starting that could quickly grow out of hand and sought to remind you of the previous consequences you paid when, previously, the behavior ballooned out of control. If I were the asshole you seem to think I am, I'd just kee[ mum until you predictably went off the rails, and then ask for your ban. Instead, I reminded you because a part of me (agreed, an increasingly less-convinced part) seems to think you might have something to offer the Project. Prove to me that that optimism is not wasted upon you. Either take the advice or leave it; understand that if your behavior gets out of hand, you'll end up blocked for a longer period of time.
- And there is no reason to respond. I think we've said all we need to. If you post to my page, I'll likely delete it, since you will have ignored my posting etiquette three times. Thanks in advance. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 04:26, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of List of United States filmmakers by city for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of United States filmmakers by city is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article Jin Na (screenwriter) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. scope_creepTalk 13:01, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Jin Na (screenwriter)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Jin Na (screenwriter) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. scope_creepTalk 13:02, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
