Creating a Wikipedia Page for my father who was an artist in Latin America[edit]

Good evening,

I would like to know where should I start my father's Wikipedia Page. My father was a well know musician whose music still very much popular during Christmas Season.

I will start by using the Talk page, but if there is another page that I should use, please let me know.

Thank you,

Carolina Oropeza — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caribana10 (talkcontribs) 01:33, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Caribana10: Start your article as a "draft" (i.e., an article whose title starts with the letters "Draft:". But first, carefully read WP:YFA. But even before that, make sure that you are convinced that you can show that your father is notable by our definition. See WP:N. Any notable subject deserves an article. Any non-notable subject should not have an article and if an article sneaks in somehow, it will be deleted, leaving you frustrated and leaving us with cleanup work to do. Since you have an unavoidable COI (WP:COI) you will need to be careful, as it is very hard to write an unbiased article. However, since your article will be in draft space, the reviewers will help you with this. Good luck! Don't get discouraged. -Arch dude (talk) 02:33, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Caribana10. Please note that your user page and your talk page are not the correct places for starting articles. I see that you have previously abandoned Draft:Oswaldo Oropeza in the past, so you could use a sandbox (User:Caribana10/Oswaldo Oropeza) to develop your article about your father. Drafts can be deleted if they are abandoned for six months. It will never be a page "for" your father or "your page", and others will edit it. Also you have a WP:Conflict of interest, so the best approach would be to find the independently published sources first, and just summarise what these say, rather than write what you know. How to officially publish a page[edit]

Hi! I'm very incompetent and can't seem to figure out how to actually publish my page. I click publish changes, but when I go onto a different device and try to look it up, it doesn't come up, and I feel like I'm missing a step. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brooksies123 (talkcontribs) 03:56, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't yet submitted your draft for AFC review. But don't do that yet, as you don't have inline citations; please read WP:Referencing for beginners, & also read the advice at WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 04:18, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, the terminology is a bit confusing: the "Publish" button just saves your changes. Gronk Oz (talk) 04:33, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Templates[edit]

Is there are pages listing all the templates, like NPOV, COI etc, that are available?--Jack Upland (talk) 08:54, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You may find Category:Article message templates a useful starting point. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:03, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--Jack Upland (talk) 09:06, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jack Upland:, Wikipedia:Template messages is pretty comprehensive, and Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace has all user talk page templates on it. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:35, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of unconstructive edit[edit]

Hello, I'm very upset with the fact that I tried to edit a Wikipedia page and shocked that it does not come up on my peers web pages. What is going on. Please let me know right now.

Kind regards, le-Mags — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.203.12.8 (talk) 09:35, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The edit you made to Web 2.0 was clearly not an improvement to Wikipedia, and was reverted immediately. Wikipedia is an encyclopdia, not a chat room. Maproom (talk) 09:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Weird[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Codedarmz and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:UsualDosage have MfD tags but no template or MfD page Abote2 (talk) 10:58, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template:User html5 was nominated for deletion in a wrong way which affected pages transcluding it. I have fixed it. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:30, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adelekan ...police chief ...no information about him....[edit]

Why is there no info on police chief Adelekan .... You can’t know anything about him just jumps to crime nothing about him or how he got to be where he is — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.0.181.26 (talk) 15:25, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If he is WP:Notable in the sense that he has been written about in WP:Reliable sources, then you can request an article at WP:Requested articles, or even start a draft article yourself. Dbfirs 15:38, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rowspan help[edit]

Hi all, I'm not very good with table formatting. Can someone please look at List of highest-grossing Indian films#Tamil. There are two films ranked #6. I'd like to rowspan the "6", but only want the green band, which connotes "currently in theatres" to be on the film Sarkar. I'd appreciate a hand with this, because the style stuff is making my brain hurt. Thanks! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:30, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cyphoidbomb: Is my attempt good enough? I don't know how to get a combined "6" cell with two background colours. -- John of Reading (talk) 15:43, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@John of Reading: That's exactly what I wanted. I assumed though there was some shortcut method of saying "make everything after this parameter green" so that we didn't have to do the line-by-line formatting. Now I'm tempted to take the green out of all the rank columns... Anyhow, thanks for the help on this! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:50, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would love to verify the articles and submit all kinds of data, documents and software configurations remotely set to verify. WLAN and COE data etc. needs expert help. If possible please reach out and help me with a walk through and play by play assistance. My data and privacy was lost, I am not worried about sharing my number... call me to help and gather data galore.

Mediator fluent in French needed for COI situation[edit]

I've been trying to work with Fbeguin99 (talk · contribs), but there's clearly a language problem interfering. I'm guessing someone fluent in French would be able to help judging by Fbeguin99's contributions to the French-language Wikipedia. --Ronz (talk) 16:58, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I might be of use, at least in the linguistic department. Feel free to go to my talk page or ping me on the talk page of the article concerned. --Cornellier (talk) 23:19, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am interested in what pages (redirects) I created have since been deleted[edit]

According to this, two of my pages are deleted. I would like to know which ones are they, but the companion "Pages" tool does not work for redirects, so I guess my deleted pages are redirects? Can any user (one of Administrators, Oversighters, Researchers, or Checkusers) satisfy my curiosity? Notrium (talk) 22:59, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Notrium: Your two deleted edits are both related to the page move of Catholic clergy involvement with the Ustaše to Catholic clergy involvement with the Ustaše and Axis occupiers of Yugoslavia. When you did that, you automatically created redirects from the old title to the new title. Due to the weird way the software handles page moves, when someone reverted your move of the article the next day, it automatically deleted those redirects prior to the move. One deleted edit is the article redirect, and one is the talk page redirect. --Floquenbeam (talk) 23:09, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Floquenbeam, thank you for the explanation, you are very kind. :)
Just FYI, one way to do deep analysis of your edits without admin tools is to use {{rfplinks}}. It provides links to all sorts of edit analysis tools. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:32, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
