You should begin your draft via the article wizard and submit it for review when you think it is ready. remove birth date

Logo policy on Wikipedia?

I'm trying to add a logo on an article, and the Help:Adding_images says I can't add photos. Which is weird, because there are a lot of logos of companies, even popular ones like Apple and Microsoft. Could a fellow Wikipedian sort the rules out? SemiDiaphanous (talk) 07:50, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

unidentified body found in Oregon

Hello, IP user. It would help if you would tell us which of our six million articles you are talking about. In any case, this is the encyclopaedia that anybody may edit, so if you have reliable published sources for the information, you may add it to the article. Several requests to reset password

Can anyone help with this?

I have now had two emails, apparently from Wikipedia, saying that - 'Someone(probably you), from IP address xxxxxxxx requested a reset of your password for Wikipedia.' A temporary password was sent both times.

I have not requested a reset of my password, but after the first email I did reset it.

However, I have just received a second email, with the same request.

Are these genuine, and do I need to do anything about them?

Hello, Bridget Wood. If you didn't request a change, you don't need to worry about it. It means that somebody has tried to login with your account, and picked "Reset my password". This might be an error, or might be malicious; but either way, they have not got access to your account. --ColinFine (talk) 16:14, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Help needed to correct errors

In the page entitled 'History of Valencia' it says, "Valentia was a typical Roman city in its conception, as it was located in a strategic location near the sea on a river island crossed by the Via Augusta, the imperial road that connected the province to Rome, the capital of the empire." There is absolutely no way that this is correct. Several reasons. Valencia or Valentia as the Roman city was called was first settled in 138 BCE. The Via Augusta was the named for Augustus who reigned in Rome between 16 January 27 BC and 19 August AD 14 and the roadway Via Augusta was constructed between 8 BCE and 2 BCE and.

In addition, according to the this webpage: https://whc.unesco.org/archive/websites/valencia/us/city/pgs/cit.history.htm and also this webpage: https://www.britannica.com/place/Valencia-Spain, both of which quote the Roman historian Livy (or Titus Livius) a Roman historian who lived before Florus, Valencia was founded by former solidiers who fought with the Lusitanian leader Viriathus following their leader's death by Roman treachery.

While logically it might make more sense that Valencia was settled by Roman soldiers as suggested by Florus, the fact that Livy writes that it was settled by former soldiers of Rome's enemy makes some sense as it would have given these enemy soliders land in an area somewhat distant from their homelands in Lusitania. Perhaps both ideas need to be written down.

Hello, Brianerhardt41: I'm afraid that if you want anybody to help you, you'll need to be more explicit about what you need. What is the "everything" that your ex fooled with? If it's something to do with Wikipedia then we might be able to help (though I'm not sure what they might have fooled with in Wikipedia). If it's nothing to do with Wikipedia, then we can't help here - this is a page for answering questions about editing Wikipedia, nothing else. If it's something on your computer, then it's possible that the guys at the computing section of the Wikipedia Reference Desk might be able to help - but, again, you'll have to be more precise about what is broken. --ColinFine (talk) 16:24, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Hello, Wikipedia does not seem to have an article about the TV film based upon the Agatha Christie book. Wikipedia has an article (as now shown in the heading) about the book itself. The character is mentione in the changes between the book and the TV production. Adding "svg made with Inkscape" template

On a Wikimedia Commons picture (see File:Apple logo black.svg) I see an infobox that says, "this text-logo was created with Inkscape". How do I include it in my own picture? SemiDiaphanous (talk) 18:56, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

SemiDiaphanous. See commons:Help:Inkscape#Tagging Inkscape files. By the way, you can Wikilink to images without actually displaying the image by using an initial colon, so [[:File:Apple logo black.svg]] displays as File:Apple logo black.svg. --ColinFine (talk) 21:06, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Great Wall navigation page

The above template gives the sense that the Great Wall is a long east to west line but as can be seen from the diagram in this link chinahighlights.com/greatwall/map.htm there were several branches of the Great Wall. Principally, there was an Outer Great Wall (the main line), Inner Great Wall (a shorter east-west line), and a spur along the Hebei/Shanxi. These terms are taken from a book on the Great Wall The Great Wall of China 221 BC–AD 1644. Is there anyway to organize the links as a diagram rather than misleading straight line?

• Inner (from east to west): Juyonggu - Pingxing - Yanmen - Guangwu
• Hebei/Shanxi border spur: Niangzi Pass
• Outer: All the other links in the diagram

It is possible to use a route diagram as a navigation template, Greatvictor999, and this is often done for railway lines; see, for example Template:East Coast Main Line diagram. This appears to be built on Template:Routemap: I don't know if it will generate anything appropriate or not. I think David Biddulph's concern was that you shouldn't consider such a major change to a template without discussing it first. --ColinFine (talk) 21:18, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

​The navbox is just a simple collection of articles about the wall, it's maybe not the necessary to have a detailed diagram. You could maybe add groupings such as here:

It's also possible to have deeper groupings.

Thanks I will follow you suggestion and post in the discussion page the template the rationale for this change. I still welcome any suggestions on feasible ways to display the sections of the wall as a diagram in the template. This is the case where a quick visualization helps make a topic less confusing. "Action throttled"

Hello, I've been doing a lot of article assessments, and I've come across a page that says, "Action throttled". Why does this happen, and are there any tips to avoid it in the future? Thanks, SemiDiaphanous (talk) 19:23, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

​This only happens because your account is new, it's to prevent vandals and bots from causing too much damage quickly. When you become autoconfirmed (which happens automatically for you in 3 three days), you should no longer be subject to throttling. – Thjarkur (talk) 23:28, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
