California lockdown[edit]
I want to understand the lockdown that I understand is currently in effect in the State of California. In particular, how long does it go on for? Freeknowledgecreator (talk) 11:43, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- California won’t be lifting coronavirus stay-at-home rules anytime soon. There's no definitive answer, but in Wuhan, the first city to impose a such a lockdown, it ended with some conditions on 8 April, a duration of 76 days. See 2020 Hubei lockdowns. - The state regulations ordered by Gavin Newsom set a baseline but the health departments of California's 58 counties have the power to set more stringent regulations. Los Angeles County is by far the most populous with over ten million people. They now require masks when interacting in public and have extended the lockdown to May 15, according to this article. - Here on Wikipedia, if you click on an IP address in a signature -- like yours: 2001:8003:7422:B100:B4DA:5C4C:C485:3900 -- the bottom of the resulting page includes a template with links to Geolocate (whatismyipaddress.com) and an Alternate (db-ip.com). Whatismyipaddress.com the website can it tell you not exactly where you are. Like I'm from Australia and they say continent is oceania and they say state/region is Queensland which is true but it says city is Brisbane im not from Brisbane I'm from eumundi which is way away from Brisbane why does it say im from Brisbane? Can a CFD be closed ASAP?[edit]

- Some uncontroversial proposals (e.g. reverting vandalism and fixing typos) can be (and should be) speedied. Proposals that are clearly not in good faith will be closed asap. It is not different from other XfD's. Editors can be topic banned, and such bans can extend to topic-related categories. Topics themselves cannot be banned. - In principle yes, see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion#Closing procedure. It is not a good idea, though, to close a discussion that you have participated in. And I'd strongly advise against doing this anyway unless you know what you are doing and are capable of following the instructions accurately. In particular, one should avoid closing discussions in which the participation is insufficient to distinguish between a true lack of consensus and an accidental imbalance in the recommendations. If there are 2 keeps and 5 deletes, two weeks later this might be 22 keeps and 6 deletes. You also have to consider whether the !votes are properly motivated. A "Delete" !vote because "I don't like it" does not count. The recommendations either way have to be based in policy or guidelines, where generally speaking policy trumps conflicting guidelines – but common sense trumps policy. --Lambiam 00:10, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say if you have to ask questions like this here, you shouldn't be closing anything anytime soon. You need more experience before closing stuff. (This is not intended to discourage anyone from asking for help and clarification. It's simply reflective of the fact a lot of the questions here are fairly basic stuff, and indicate whoever is asking them does not understand things enough to be able to close discussions at this time. An editor who does ask such questions is far more likely to know enough to close discussions in the future and less likely to get in trouble in the interim compared to an editor who imagines they understand everything when they really don't, and fails to seek help or clarification. Although it would be better to ask questions on how to operate on Wikipedia at WP:Help desk or WP:Teahouse rather than to ask them here.) Nil Einne (talk) 10:01, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- The OP has (including earlier accounts) been editing since January 2017 and has over 17,000 edits on en.wikipedia.org, the fast majority of which are in mainspace (and more than 65,000 edits on all projects combined), so they are not exactly a n00b. --Lambiam 13:56, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
