Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?[edit]
While all of those projects do each touch a few aspects of the subject, none encompass the entire subject. Wikipedia would benefit from a project interested especially in this broad subject, instead of just hoping that a bunch of projects, all with bigger priorities, attempt to improve this topic. — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs) 18:10, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Reception[edit]
Support[edit]
Also, specify whether or not you would join the project.
- — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs) (nominator) Yes, I would join this WikiProject, and since I would be its creator it would be my priority alongside POLITICS/USA which I effectively revived. 01:35, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
- ―Matthew J. Long -Talk-☖ 22:37, 22 December 2017 (UTC) I would be interested in this WikiProject and believe it should exist.[reply]
- Potential support, in concept. The proposed name doesn't really work. But we do have a bit of a project coverage gap when it comes to a general sector of the arts and applied communication (oratory, speechwriting, public relations, debate, etc.). Is there a way to encapsulate this in a word or two? "Speeches and persuasion" isn't even a parallel construction and is thus awkward. "Persuasion" is also vague, and could include advertising, pick-up artists, propaganda, cult-of-personality, indoctrination, etc., etc., and I'm skeptical the scope is intended to be that broad. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 04:39, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]
- The description seems a bit vague. Maybe the title should be Wikiproject propaganda, disinformation or deception. In any case I think speech should be taken out, because that is more the domain of rhetoric, speechmaking, etc, and I think those are already covered by other wikiprojects. This wiki project would, of necessity, have a lot of flamebait and attract people fighting over whatcounts as disinformation or not.--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 02:13, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
