New Page Review needs your help[edit]

Hi Mr. Guye,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

A7 on VMmanger[edit]

Hi Mr. Guye -- I have declined this speedy request because, as far as I can tell, it appears to be a software product and not a company or web content, and thus ineligible for A7. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:40, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Paul Pines article[edit]

Hello Mr Guye,

Thank you for approving the Paul Pines article. Since you gave it a "start" rating could you suggest how to improve the article? Had already decided that I need to study the Manual of Style more for form but would also appreciate your input since, as a relative newbie, I worked at getting good sources and setting up the article to demonstrate contributions the subject made. Then thought I would focus on cleanup. Was surprised at the Start classification when I checked out the example of what a Start article looks like. Thought it was more a C or even a B rating. Looking forward to your insight. (Ogmany (talk) 16:14, 16 November 2016 (UTC))

@Ogmany: I changed my mind. I changed the ratings from "Start" to "C". --Mr. Guye (talk) 18:35, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Attack pages[edit]

Hi Mr. Guye -- pages like "Ella concannon" that are about a child who is not in the public eye, where there is any personal information at all, should be speedied as G10 (attack pages), which will get admin attention much more quickly. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 09:20, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Political Strongman of Russia listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

Information.svg

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Political Strongman of Russia. Since you had some involvement with the Political Strongman of Russia redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. • Thanks for invoking G7. I feel a little bad—I saw you were the creator and generally try to discuss things with people I know to be good editors before pursuing deletion. I hope there are no hard feelings. --BDD (talk) 23:54, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Knight's Cross winners[edit]

Hi, I followed here from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Egon Aghta.

FYI, similar articles on non notable Knight's Cross recipients can be redirected to an alphabetical list without the need for AfD, per consensus at Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(people)#Redirect_proposal_for_Knight.27s_Cross_winners.

I've recently set up a page to track such redirects (Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Knight Cross recipients) -- you are welcome to participate. K.e.coffman (talk) 21:31, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Mr. Guye. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
