Zhongshan Island (also known as Macau Island or Aomen Dao; formerly transcribed as Heangshan Island) is an island on the west bank of the Pearl River Delta, Guangdong Province, China.[1][2] This area is separated from the mainland by a narrow waterway, and has a population of about 2.3 million. At the southern tip of the island is the Special Administrative Region of Macau. The rest of the island (and more than 70% of the population) is part of the cities of Zhuhai and Zhongshan.
