Robert "Bob" Peterson (born January 18, 1961) is an American animator, screenwriter, director and voice actor who works at Pixar Animation Studios. He made his directorial debut on Up, in which he also voiced the character Dug. He was hired by Roger Gould in 1994 and started as an animator for commercials. He then became an animator on Toy Story.

Early life[edit]

Peterson was born in Wooster, Ohio, his family moved to Dover, Ohio, where he graduated from Dover High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University, and a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1986. While attending Purdue, he wrote and illustrated the comic strip Loco Motives for the Purdue Exponent. Prior to coming to Pixar, Peterson worked at Wavefront Technologies and Rezn8 Productions.

Career[edit]

Peterson has also voiced characters for Pixar films such as Geri in Geri's Game, Roz in Monsters, Inc., Mr. Ray in Finding Nemo and Dug in Up. His most recent vocal work is on the Janitor at Sunnyside Daycare Center in Toy Story 3 in which he also voices Chuckles the clown in the flashback sequence.

He is currently directing The Good Dinosaur, which is described as "What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth? Director Bob Peterson's hilarious tale depicts a world where dinosaurs never went extinct."[1]
