Salanpur is a village, in Salanpur CD Block in Asansol Sadar subdivision of Paschim Bardhaman district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Salanpur had a total population of 4,739 of which 2,454 (52%) were males and 2,285 (48%) were females. Population below 6 years was 658. The total number of literates in Salanpur was 2,909 (71.28% of the population over 6 years).[1]

Police station

Salanpur police station has jurisdiction over a part of Salanpur CD Block. The area covered is 52.09 km2 and the population covered is 119,142.[2][3]

Economy

Collieries in the Salanpur Area of Eastern Coalfields are: Dabor, Sagramgarh, Begunia, Khoirabad, Modarbahal, Barmondia, Chakballavpur, Sangramgarh OCP, Gourandi OCP, Bonjemehari OCP, Mohanpur OCP and Balmiya OCP.[4]

Transport

Salanpur is a station on the Asansol-Patna section of the Howrah-Delhi main line.[5]

SH 5 running from Rupnarayanpur (in Paschim Bardhaman district) to Junput (in Purba Medinipur district) passes through Salanpur.[6] It links to the Kolkata-Delhi NH 19, passing nearby.

Healthcare

The 50-bed Salanpur Hospital of Eastern Coalfields is located at Dendua.[7]
