The Samsung Z1 is a smartphone developed and produced by Samsung Electronics and the first to have the Tizen operating system; it was released in the Indian market on 14 January 2015. The software and user interface (UI) of the Tizen 2.3 platform has been developed at Samsung’s Bangalore R&D lab, and the Z1 smartphones are manufactured in the Noida facility. Samsung later updates Samsung Z1 to Tizen version 2.4

Hardware

The Samsung Z1 features a 480×800 WVGA PLS TFT 4-inch display, and provides a pixel density of 233 ppi (pixels-per-inch), powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, up to 64 GB of microSDXC storage, and a 1500 mAh battery.

Software

The Samsung Z1 comes with Samsung's own mobile operating system, Tizen specifically 2.3 version. The UI was specifically designed for users who were upgrading from feature phones to smartphones. Being Built on the Tizen platform that also powers products like Samsung televisions, cameras and wearable devices. Samsung has started rolling out the Tizen 2.4 update included Ultra Data Saving Mode, password protected private memos.[3]

Camera

The main (rear-facing) camera is a CMOS 3.15 MP with LED flash but no auto focus. It is capable of recording VGA (640x480) videos at 15fps. The secondary (front-facing) camera is a CMOS 0.3 MP camera.

Sales

Samsung Z1 was designed to appeal to the millions of feature phone users in India and Bangladesh while addressing their need for an easy-to-use smartphone. Samsung India Electronics has sold a record 1 million[4] Tizen-powered Samsung Z1 smartphones since its launch in January 2015.
