African airports[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your new entries but can you cite sources and provide a reference? Give me a bell if you need assistance in learning how to, but reading WP:Citing sources and Template:Cite web should help you. Cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:10, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dr. Thanks for the offer of help. I've read the pages, and I understand the ref,/ref method now, but the maps template doesn't work well for what I'm doing.
I've been working Google Earth airport layer errata for a couple years. Many Wikipedia 'List of Airports in CountyX' pages needed stubs, so I've been going through country by country and creating those, with location and runway info. NO 'list of airports' is authoritative or reliable, not even govt or other official lists. An airport gets on a list, it gets copied to other lists, miscopied to a few more, ends up on the Wikipedia list; meanwhile the villagers have built their mud huts along the former runway, a developer has planted a factory on the pavement, etc, but the airport lives on because no one ever audits the lists.
The only reliable method is verifying using satellite images, which is mainly Google Earth and sometimes OVI. The internet map sources I use for cross-reference are continuous across the world, so lack labels and often dates and copyright, which makes using the map template awkward. Using coordinates and Google Earth is sufficient for any user to verify my work, but other than that I don't know of any reliable reference method. I have what I've used listed under References, but I could put that into a reflist format if that would be a preferred format.
Your suggestions appreciated. Cptmrmcmillan (talk) 12:29, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can cite {{Google maps | url = | accessdate =}} ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:38, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ulongwe Airport[edit]

I don't see which is your problem with the article having red links that point to Ulongwe. There are thousands of pages that include links to non-existing articles with the hope that someone will create them in the future. You may want to read WP:REDLINK to get familiar with this stuff. Please do not revert the changes again before discussing the matter here or at the article's talk page. Furthemore, it would be useful if you used edit summaries to explain your rationale for your reversions. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:40, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Matany Airport[edit]

"Stub" categories are transcluded by stub templates rather than directly declared on the page, and group articles by a maintenance state rather than an end user content characteristic — so they don't count toward whether an article is properly categorized or not. Even if it has 100 stub templates on it, an article is still uncategorized if it doesn't have at least one content category declared directly on the page in the [[Category:Specific characteristic of this topic]] format. Request for Participation at WT: Airports[edit]

As you may be aware, there was a recent discussion on the talk page of WP:Airports which prematurely and without consensus resulted in mass changes to airport articles throughout Wikipedia. Before a drastic change like this is put into practice, it is important to have clear consensus, which from my readings as an observer, did not occur. Many of these changes started to occur before any real discussion had taken place, and despite much disagreement from some community members. Disagreement is good -- it's great actually -- without it nothing would ever get done. But it's important that everyone opinions are heard fairly and accurately, and that significant changes like merging the Regional Airline destinations with the Mainline destinations are not done without such consensus. I encourage you, as someone involved in WP:Airports and the original discussion, to voice your opinions and discuss with others about how we should move forward at this point. Positive and constructive conversation is the way to a consensus. I also ask that everyone (myself included) ceases merging or un-merging mainline/regional destinations until a censuses is reached. Please contribute to the conversation here. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 04:48, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Songwe Airport[edit]

Hi,
Thanks for your correction regarding the IATA code for Songwe Airport.
I agree to revert IATA code to "none" if IATA has not officially reassigned "MBI" code to Songwe Airport.
However, I think it is important to inform readers that "MBI" code is used in flight schedules for Songwe Airport.
Please check my new change proposal and let me know if it is ok for you.

Aeropuertos Argentina 2000[edit]

"Stub" categories don't make an article categorized. They're editor-oriented maintenance categories that group articles by quality status, not user-oriented categories that group articles by class of topic, so no matter how many stub categories an article has it is still uncategorized if it doesn't have at least one real content category on it. And also, stub categories are never, under any circumstances, supposed to be directly declared on the article itself — they are exclusively transcluded via the use of a {{stub-template}}, and are never directly added to articles [[Category:this way]].

So, for future reference, if you're adding categories to articles that have been tagged as uncategorized, categories that have the word "stubs" in their name do not make the article properly categorized or justify removing the uncategorized template — the article is still uncategorized until you find and add the real content category that's meant for end user browsing, like Category:Transport companies of Argentina. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 14:45, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't know:

  • that "concesión" is a Spanish word, not an English word;
  • the correct word order when naming regions;
  • the correct decimal separator in English;
  • when bold face should be used;
  • when italic should be used;
  • that "ident" is not a word;
  • that the {{coord}} template already links to a street map

then you should not be editing this encyclopaedia. These are just some of the failings in your edits. 51.7.229.224 (talk) 22:19, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Lunkuni Airport has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not satisfy general notability guideline; no sources except maps, none appear on google and it's an airstrip to a village that doesn't even have an article itself.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
