Read guidelines to write articles[edit]

Please read the guidelines how to write and edit an article as posted on your welcome note. Do not copy everything from what you find, and wikify articles. Also, please add edit summaries in your edits. Could you post your article creations on the SGpedians' notice board. Do leave your name leave us and consider adding yourself into this category. --Terence Ong Talk 16:11, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling of Terence[edit]

There are many spellings of Terence. Terence Cao is not Terrance Cao as in MediaCorp's website. Spell the name officially, not to what you wish. This is an encyclopedia. --Terence Ong Talk 05:12, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Terence Ong 04:27, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you discuss[edit]

Could you discuss topics to be added into Singapore article, before adding information in it. I have reverted your edit on that, please cooperate. --Terence Ong 16:08, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, please take a moment to review[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that a number of your recent edits had been reverted by other editors and wanted to give you a heads up on why that might be happening.

Wikipedia is a collaborative encyclopedia (as explained at Wikipedia:Introduction), and so anyone may edit its articles. Its policy, nonetheless, is that articles must be written from a Neutral Point of View, representing all majority and significant-minority views fairly and without bias, as is discussed extensively at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Part of maintaining that tone is making sure that information we use in our articles is verifiable, as discussed at Wikipedia:Verifiability. In order to do so, we request that participants cite their sources when adding or changing information; you can find more information on how to do so at Wikipedia:Citing sources.

I noticed that some of the editors have already contacted you here on your Talk page. Its important to listen to their concerns; they're trying to give you some tips on the policies and procedures that Wikipedia uses and keep you from running afoul of our system. If there's anything I can help explain or any questions you have, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. Happy editing! .:.Jareth.:. babelfish 16:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions are rather fine, but the repetition of information on the main article of Singapore is not needed. For example, you added the population density in the Demographics section (which is actually in the infobox). Also, you wrote a section about education which is actually not needed in the main article and one could look at Education in Singapore. If you have any help contact my talk page. Many of your edits are from your POV (Point of View). I hope that you read the policies and discuss on the talk page. --Terence Ong 16:57, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Singapore skyline.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading images Image:Singapore skyline.jpg, Image:Sg fireworks.jpg and Image:Sg skyline.jpg. However, the images may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 15:11, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Biren.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Biren.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Copyright problems with Image:Biren.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Biren.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Also, please do not add {{sprotected}} notices to pages that have not been protected. --Alan Au 23:26, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not take away the pictures[edit]

I notice that some editors have been taking away the pictures in Singapore. Please do nt do that. Thanks.

Next thing is that some editors have been putting Huang Biren's birth year in Huang Biren page. Huang Biren said she does not want anyone to know her age. Thanks

No, I can't promise you! There are too many photos on the topic of Singapore. Why did you put so many photos over there? Anyway! I will remove them all if you put them again. 70.52.67.214 05:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about Hong Kong, but I only feel interested in Singaporean topics. You put too many fotos and hurt the layout. 70.52.67.214 07:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so! Singapore is very popular and many people know what Singapore looks like. Youu worried too much! 70.52.67.214 07:16, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

again, you are too sensitive! you worried too much! Singapore is much better than any other countries in Asia. 70.52.67.214 07:20, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't put too many photos, let keep Singapore a bit of mystery. If you put too many photos, nobody would like to come because they have already seen your photos. 70.52.67.214 07:25, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore is a very very small outcrop, not much better than Holy see, don't you think we are doing "hard sell"? And it is too hot like hell as well, I think that you had better improve the content of Singapore's topic rather than put photos over there, what do you think?70.52.67.214 07:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signing posts[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. all your edits to mediacorp drama serials[edit]

first, your efforts in creating new articles on the above subject matter is noted. however, please be mindful of the proper wp formatting style, including grammar and point of view. thank youChensiyuan 04:42, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On another note, I have found that your version of A Million Treasures, an article you recently created, contains instructions for the readers to view the show. It reads, "Audience who are not in Singapore and/or are interested to watch the show again may go to Youtube and type A Million Tresures on the search engine, where the videos can be found. Viewers could also subscribe to MobTV."

I would like to alert you to WP:NOT, an official policy on Wikipedia. By its being a policy, it is implied that "it has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow." Specifically, WP:NOT#IINFO states, "While Wikipedia has descriptions of people, places, and things, Wikipedia articles should not include instructions or advice (legal, medical, or otherwise), suggestions, or contain 'how-to's."

A statement that would read like it fits Wikipedia would probably go, "In addition to its being broadcast on the free-to-air channel Channel 8, episodes of the show have also been uploaded onto YouTube. It is also available to the subscribers of MobTV." Of course, this information must not belong to a section by itself, so as not to run afoul of WP:NOT#IINFO. The information must also be cited as per WP:V.

It also seems from an online tool that you wrote an edit summary only for 1% of your last 150 major edits. Edit summaries make it convenient for editors to tell what you changed in pages, and is reflected in very many areas throughout Wikipedia. Please help the rest of the editors by filling in your edit summaries.

For any other questions, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page, at Wikipedia_talk:SGpedians'_notice_board or at Wikipedia:Help_desk. —Goh wz 16:35, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Biren111.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Biren111.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Unspecified source for Image:Biren2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Biren2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:1108pen10.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:1108pen10.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Orphaned non-free media (Image:31a.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:31a.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:24, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Darrentzw! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Chew Chor Meng - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article List of MediaCorp Chinese series (2006) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is a schedule for airing, and the need for this page does not appear to be necessary.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
