Since the 5 days is almost up, I'll delete this article so that you can do the move of the real article. Vegaswikian 00:43, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roller coaster templates[edit]

Hey, good call on switching over the coaster templates. That was on my to do list. The old table just looked out of place, the newer ones are more streamlined. Cheers! Stratosphere 16:43, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll stick the list of coasters template on the Cedar Point pages this weekend, I have exams Thu/Fri so probably won't get to it til after. Stratosphere 07:20, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Roller Coasters[edit]

I'd like to help out, but I don't really have the time now. I can probably join the project after this semester is over. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 16:59, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way I'd be able to become involved with the WikiProject? I've made it a point to center the majority of my edits on amusement park related articles and would love to be able to help out in making such a project expand. VexedTechie 15:02, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Top Thrill Dragster edits[edit]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is my reversion of the edit(s) by 69.161.152.109 correct in that Top Thrill Dragster is NOT a "Tera-Coaster" but is a "Strata Coaster"? It's never been branded as a teracoaster, and was the self-proclaimed first "Strata Coaster." Nevertheless, whoever is running that IP address is insistent upon naming it a tera-coaster. I feel as his edits with regard to TTD are somewhat "blasphemous." VexedTechie 13:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to RCDB, Top Thrill Dragster, Kingda Ka, Kanonen, Stealth, Storm Runner, etc., are accelerator coasters. I've usually heard TTD and KK referred to as "stratacoasters" or "stratocoasters", although the mega-/giga-/strat(a|o)- terms are more just marketing terms made up by Intamin. I go ahead and use them myself even though I'm more of a B&M fan, but most other B&M fans call them "rocket coasters". I've never heard the term "teracoaster" used, although it does show up in Google. (It's probably from a naming convention commonly used in computer science - kilo-, mega-, giga-, tera-, peta-, exa- - when talking about bytes of storage on a computer. So it is somewhat logical, but strato- is the prefix I've seen most often for TTD and KK.)
As for "shortshot" - I've never heard that term used, and Google doesn't seem to either. I've only heard "rollback".
As for B&M, I don't know a great deal of their history; but this link says that they used to work for Intamin.
--Idont Havaname (Talk) 17:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... The Promotion Video of TTD says it is a stratacoaster. -Ceres3

It's correct. A stratacoaster is a 400+ (or you could say 400-499) foot tall coaster, TTD and KK are the only ones. An accelerator coaster is Intamin's model of hydraulic launch coaster. TTD and KK are accelerator coasters, but so are Xcelerator, Storm Runner, Kanonen etc. Dusso Janladde 13:31, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On a related note, someone (a while back) edited the rider capacity and made it 1,051 per hour. The manufacturer lists it at 1,500 rph and is what is on CP's (and rcdb) web site. While I understand this person might have some actual numbers based on experience, is it customary to list the manufacturers/parks specs on the ride? I edited it once, but they changed it back. I figured maybe the project could come up with a standard. Stratosphere 02:53, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New roller coaster infobox format[edit]

Copied from User_Talk:Tim_fischer

I just finished changing the infobox a matter of minutes ago, and it's fantastic to see someone else already working on changing the articles! Keep it up! Dusso Janladde 05:10, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

No problem, and thanks for your work with the infobox. Looks great. --Rehcsif 14:38, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Look's Great! I can only create induvidual templates, so how do you make infoboxes?- Coastergeekperson04 21:57, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Roller Coaster List[edit]

I've added some roller coaster to the list, is this the correct way? I'm just wondering if I'm creating the link name correctly. Is it intended that some one would eventually make a page for each one? (a bunch have no home. poor rides, no link.) --Moonraker0022 07:26, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: your recent edit (restore Category:Roller coasters, as it's the main list of all coaster articles)

The Wikipedia Manual of Style dictates that an article should not belong to both a category and one of its subcategories. I removed the categorization into Category:Roller coasters because the template also automatic places coasters into one of its subcats, e.g. Category:Wooden roller coasters. As for being the main list, all articles can be accessed by drilling down through a subcat.

p.s.- I like your idea of the two categories: "Roller coasters by manufacturer" and "Roller coasters by location"

Dddstone 11:59, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brain Teaser is up for deletion via WP:AFD. This isn't my article, but if it's deleted, it sets the prescident for many small coasters to be deleted, such as Mild Thing, which runs counter to the Coaster Wikiproject and also will make a lot of park templates look dumb since they can't include all coasters. Just thought you'd like to know and maybe speak up as the head of the project. --Rehcsif 05:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was recently a similar situation with the Corkscrew (Alton Towers) article which I created. This resulted in a decision to keep the article and all the other Alton Towers coaster articles. I thought you might be interested in reading the debate. --Fozi999 22:45, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:RollerCoasterStatSheet[edit]

Hi, I just noticed that a template you created, Template:RollerCoasterStatSheet, is unused and appears to be abandoned. Dicdef, no sources.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Disambiguation link notification for June 4[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Title sequence of Game of Thrones, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Bradley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article The Bat (Canada's Wonderland) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
