Species in Walking With...[edit]

Can you provide the sources and or citations that support the claims that Inostrancevia, Brooksella and Orthoceras were mentioned in the Walking With... series? From what I've read, the companion books all state otherwise, not mentioning any of them.--Mr Fink (talk) 15:07, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unless you can provide the sources and proper citations that support your claims that Inostrancevia, Brooksella and Orthoceras were mentioned in the Walking With... series, you are engaging in Original Research, which is frowned on, and will be reverted.--Mr Fink (talk) 15:16, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

August 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page List of animals in Zoo Tycoon 2 has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. September 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page Walking with Dinosaurs has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Rsrikanth05 (talk) 17:08, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible if you can provide citations that support the edits you've made in Walking With Beasts, Walking With Dinosaurs, and Walking With Monsters where you've identified individual species?--Mr Fink (talk) 19:17, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please Stop Original Research[edit]

If you have no intention of providing citations to confirm your edits, please stop trying to identify the various organism in the Walking With... series as you see fit, you are engaging in Original Research. Not only does it appear that you are not consulting the original material or any of the companion literature, but many of your identifications are out of place, just wrong, or even contradicts both the original material and the literature.--Mr Fink (talk) 23:27, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible for you to look at the original shows and companion books, and name them according to what the narration said they were? You don't seem to be aware that your insistence on putting in details above and beyond what the makers of "Walking With..." had in mind severely harms the overall accuracy of those articles. I barely trust any of your contributions, as you constantly engage in Original Research. You often put in the wrong species, or even the wrong genus. If it really was Cynodictis, where did they say so in the narrative, in the companion books, or even in the website? If it really was Cynodictis, then why have you also insisted that they identified it as a creodont, or as the mesonychid Mesonyx obtusidens? Why is it so hard for you to verify all of your edits with citations?--Mr Fink (talk) 19:26, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you planning on copying the entire ARKive species list across? This would seem to be a problem for WP:UNDUE, as the article ought to be about ARKive, not duplicating ARKive itself.

If you're interested in species taxonomy, are you familiar with Wikispecies? Andy Dingley (talk) 10:12, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Then I would open a new page for this? -Fehér Zoltán (talk) 10:41, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A separate page would be better, obviously linked from the ARKive article.

However I'd still question the need to do this. There are lists of species that are general species lists, or the RedLists of endangered species. ARKive has its own list that's largely the superset of these, with a few others creeping in because of local interest (Avon gorge & Lundy endemic plants, the Indri lemur, Golden lion tamarind, others with particular significance to the ARKive project). This isn't really an interesting list for Wikipedia though, and I don't see that we need to duplicate it. If a Wikipedia reader wants to know "The current ARKive list of interesting species", then it's best to link to a URL at ARKive that lists this (that would be a good addition to ARKive). If they want to read a CITES red list, then we should link to that. For general species information, we have Wikispecies and our own categorization mechanisms.
Although these lists are important, and it's important for an encyclopedia to "cover" them, this "coverage" in terms of a web-based encyclopedia shoudl be by linking, not duplication. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:51, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3RR Warning[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Primeval. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

 1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
 2. Editors violating the rule will usually be blocked for 24 hours for a first incident.
 3. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording, and content that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Please discuss your edits at Talk:Primeval instead of engaging in an edit war. Consensus works better than conflict. Primeval[edit]

Some of the edits you've made toPrimeval have been unhelpful, starting with this edit. Issues include, but are not limited to:

 • Removing "<!-- include ALT text per WP:ALT guideline -->" - as per WP:ALT all images should include ALT text. While not mandatory that it be included, the hidden comment is a reminder to editors that ALT text should be provided.
 • Changing "Series 4 title card" to "Logo of Primeval series 4" - Strictly speaking, this field does not need any content at all according the the instructions for Infobox television but the convention is to refer to the tile card as such, not as a "logo".
 • Changing the code for line breaks, The correct code for a line break is "<br />", not "<br>". Although "<br>" works, it's not compatible with all html versions so the correct code should be used.
 • Changing "James Murray" to "James Murray" - James Murray is a disambiguation page while James Murray (English actor) is the actual article for the actor. Links should always be made to the rticle, not a disambiguation page.
 • Changing the contents of "|num_episodes= from "29<!--as of 29 January 2011-->" to "30". Technically this field is for the number of episodes produced, so 30 is correct. However, where the number exceeds the number of episodes aired a citation from a reliable source is required and you did not provide that so your change was inappropriate. In any case, the convention is that the field displays the number of episodes aired.
 • Adding redlinks - There's very little point in creating redlinks to articles such as Ruth Kearney, Dominik Scherrer and Paul Frift, that don't have a lot of chanceof being created. Tim Bradley is a disambiguation page that does not refer to Primeval's Tim Bradley.
 • Changing the contents of "|last_aired=" from "Present" to "". The instructions for Infobox television state that for series that are stiill airing, like Primeval, the contents of "|last_aired=" should be "Present". This should not change until the final episode of the last series of Primeval has aired.
 • Removal of references. References that are still applicable, even though they may be dead should not be removed. The ITV reference was tagged in accordance with WP:DEADLINK and should not have been removed. Neither should the still valid and functional zap2it.com reference.

Restoring these problems after they have were reverted multiple times,[1][2] is edit-warring and is why you received the warning above. If you really think your changes should be incorporated, please do not edit-war. instead, discuss the issue on the article's talk page. --AussieLegend (talk) 01:50, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
