Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Newton South High School, without citing a reliable source. November 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Genericusername57. I noticed that you recently removed content from List of LGBT-related slurs without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. gnu57 02:07, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the content because chaser belongs on the list of LGBT-related slang, not slurs. Chaser is a term that is typically used by people in the transgender community, not used by cisgender heterosexuals to demean LGBT people the way that the other slurs on the page are. Feralcateater000 (talk) 02:13, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, FeralCateater000: the scope of the page includes derogatory terms used both towards and by LGBT people: note that the list also includes "fish", "breeder", "fag hag", and "bihet". (Also, calling someone dating a transgender person "chaser" may be offensive to both parties.) Cheers, gnu57 03:47, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emerald ash borer[edit]

Greetings from Finland! I'm not a member, but I just noticed you were the last to edit an article about the emerald ash borer. Very interesting article, but it is very America centered. There's no mention of areas outside the US in the "Invasiveness"-chapter, even if the beetle is an invasive species also in Europe and Asia, and it's causing severe problems there as well. Maybe someone has time to edit the article a bit at some point. Unfortunately English isn't my mother tongue, so I can't help with this, and my knowledge about insects is very limited too.

Have a nice day! -Jenni — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.114.207.68 (talk) 20:35, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Bivalves described in the 20th century requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Dryocoetes, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "missing periodical" error. References show this error when the name of the magazine or journal is not given. Please edit the article to add the name of the magazine/journal to the reference, or use a different citation template. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 13:01, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for monotypic genera at species name[edit]

Hi, the convention is that when a monotypic genus has to be at the species name (because it needs disambiguating), then "Category:Monotypic ... genera" is put on the genus redirect. This ensures that if you look at the genera category, you only see genus names. Peter coxhead (talk) 16:12, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for spiders[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Spiders/Style guide#Categories: both a taxonomic category and, for ranks above species, a taxonomic rank category should be used for genus articles. This applies more widely to organisms. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:30, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

did I categorize something wrong? Feralcateater000 (talk) 21:47, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I may have made a mistake over who made the edit, sorry. I do see quite a lot of articles where people seem to think that it's wrong to have "Category:X" and "Category:X genera". Peter coxhead (talk) 12:56, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This award is given in recognition to Feralcateater000 for collecting more than 50 points during the WikiProject Unreferenced articles's FEB24 backlog drive. Your contributions played a crucial role in sourcing 14,300 unsourced articles during the drive. Thank you so much for participating and helping to reduce the backlog! – – DreamRimmer (talk) 18:38, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for spider taxon articles[edit]

Hi, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Spiders/Style guide#Categories. Articles about a genus, for example, should have both a taxonomic category (e.g. "Araneidae" or "Araneus") and a taxonomic rank category (e.g. "Araneidae genera"). This is the practice throughout the tree of life wikiprojects. Peter coxhead (talk) 21:56, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I’ll go back and add them to both Feralcateater000 (talk) 22:28, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
