Just a heads up that I reverted some of your edits because I was still kind of in the middle of expanding the information. You'll see how the headers fit together now. On another note, I also noticed that you filled in some of the redlinks. Excellent work! I was going to get around to doing it myself but you've saved me some time. I have to say, filling in redlinks can be fun!

Furthermore, you must be completely insane. Only a complete insaniac would have created 12343 articles. What are you? Part man-part machine? Seriously, that is a ridiculous number. Regardless, you are a credit to the encyclopaedia. Maybe you should start a list of "users by articles created" and place yourself at the top. I'd wager that only geography bot accounts would rival your record! Impressive work. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 18:17, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: Hm[edit]

Hi Punkmorten. Sorry, I didn't notice that. When I was correcting the order of postnominals I spotted what appeared to be a normal dash, so changed it to an endash. Cheers, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 21:30, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marion Jones and EPO[edit]

Maybe not. See where I might have gone wrong on the list! Steroids yes. Ex=husband said she took EPO, but sample B was negative in the end. Good call! ROxBo (talk) 10:54, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Azar Karadaş[edit]

I added the Turkish pronunciation of Azar Karadaş (Turkish: Azar Karadash) His player name is spelled as Azar Karadas (as the letter Ş/ş does not exist in Norwegian). But his surname is Karadaş. Because he is also a Turkish citizen and as it is the (correct) way written in his Turkish passport and Turkish I.D. Card. His orginal name should stay even as a player his name is not spelled that way, as I just mentioned the reasons (the absence of that letter in Norwegian) above. Letters used in Norwegian Æ, Ø, Å, æ, ø, å etc. and Norwegian place names and personal names are also not spelled at all in any foreign country and sources. But since this is Wikipedia and a source of "correct information", original letters of any language should be put in Wikipedia articles (Even if it is in brackets). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Saguamundi (talkcontribs)

LOL, have you seen his passport? Punkmorten (talk) 18:10, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
About Azar Karadaş. Turkish passports and ID Cards always put Turkish letters. Are Norwegian letters not put on Norwegian passports and ID Cards? Even questioning this is stupid and a sign of ignorance. Saguamundi 13:55, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are completely missing the point. If he grew up in Turkey, played for the Turkish national team and in the Turkish league, but had a secondary Norwegian passport, would you use the Norwegian spelling? Punkmorten (talk) 08:39, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stations[edit]

Nice pictures you have taken. And finally a real live image of Lysaker :) I was wondering about the coordinates for Bestun Station. I cannot find the station marked on Google Maps, since they only include current stations. Is it Bestumveien that passes below the station in the underpass, or is it a different one? Thanks, Arsenikk (talk) 18:45, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Find the center of the borough, and then give a less accurate measurement. While degrees, minutes and seconds are needed for a tram stop, only use degrees and minutes for a borough. Arsenikk (talk) 19:08, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I answered your question on my talk page. I have two other things on my mind, though:

In case you do not know (and please forgive my ignorance if you do), if you want to get the coordinates for a place, find it on Google Maps, left-click and center the place in question. Add the "link" javascript:void(prompt('',%22{{location%20dec|%22%20+%20gApplication.getMap().getCenter().lat()%20+%20%22|%22%20+%20gApplication.getMap().getCenter().lng()%20+%20%22}}%22)); as a bookmark, and then click the bookmark, and the coordinates will pop up in a box.

I was also wondering about the capitalization of national roads. Would you not agree with me that a particular road is a proper noun, and that they therefore should be capitalized? Looking at WP:Good articles#Road infrastructure it seems pretty much all roads are capitalized. Or if there something I have overlooked? 19:43, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Overlooked? No.. I'm just not used to proper nouns. Punkmorten (talk) 21:38, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just dropping by...[edit]

...to say thanks for the latest batch of new articles on Croatian athletes! GregorB (talk) 23:39, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the pleasure is mine, since Vojnović was on my to-do list for a while, as an interesting, "Did-you-know?" kind of guy. (The article still does not tell the whole story: he is now Dinara Safina's fitness coach. We'll get around to that soon, no doubt.) This way it's one item less on my already long list, and an article that's certainly better than it would have been if I wrote it myself...
I'll try to add WP Biography tags in the future - it doesn't cost much while you're at it. (In fact, I was under impression that some kind of bot does this - it would be fairly easy given the categories.) GregorB (talk) 14:52, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I have done that...what do you reckon? Does it meet the requirements now? Sonic Irrigator (talk) 10:37, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting increasingly impressed by your more fuller Norwegian bio articles of late Morten. Keep up the great work! Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I'm pretty amazed at the sheer number of decent starter articles you create, awesome stuff, you are literally the living dictionary of Norwegian biography! Yes I'm ploughing my way through these third world countries and recently started all of the communes of Mali. The problem is I haven't the time to write them because so much needs doing just moving towards a fuller coverage. There should be info to write most of them like Gory, Mali. At present I'm working towards getting the third level units of countries on here, you know the communes and municipalities, especially western Africa and some Asian countries like Tajikistan and Vietnam etc especially if I can find population data. The Jamoats of Tajikistan and Communes of Vietnam etc. Some of the other wikipedias like Vietnamese are growing surprisingly well and feel confident some day they will all branch out into fuller articles on by the growth of web content and internet users in these places.

Boy o boy it looks like you get even more unwanted and silly AFD or speedy deletion requests than even I do. I wonder when the day will come that these people will just learn to drop it! Notice how none of them ever actually try to improve an article themsevles.. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:20, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, I'd planned on sending it there, along with Gruban v Booth and a few others. I'm trying to build a Good Topic around Patrick Hastings (see my sandbox to see how far I've got with a new draft) using a lot of his cases. I think it will probably be around 8-10 articles eventually. If you have any criticisms/comments you think I should address before I send it off to GAC give me a poke on my talkpage. Citations[edit]

Understand your counsel on overuse of citations. Must admit it can get overdone when the more common points are covered in multiple sources. I'll settle for the most relevant one, except for potentially controversial points. Thanks.

I popped up recent Norway contributions the other day and found you'd started the bulk of recent Norway-related articles. The top three Norway-related contributors looked like:

  • 53 articles (58% of all new articles) - Punkmorten
  • 11 articles (12% of all new articles) - Oceanh
  • 9 articles (10% of all new articles) - AlbertHerring

And a quick look at the articles suggested they weren't trivial to generate. Not only do you set a high standard for your work, but you are also an incredibly prolific editor! I'm in beyond-barnstar awe.

Propose moving the article titled Governor-general of Norway to Statholder[edit]

I propose moving the article titled Governor-general of Norway to Statholder or, if that is objectionable, to Governor General of Norway. The basis for this move is that there is published material showing three terms: ”Statholder”, “Viceroy” or “Governor General”, are accepted English terms in academic references, while "Governor-general of Norway" appears nowhere in English language print. Viceroy is a generic term, hardly specific to Norway, and should not be used. ”Statholder” is specific to Norway, risking no ambiguity. A survey of usages follows:

  • Governor GeneralJesperson, Leon (Ed.) (2000). A Revolution from Above? The Power State of 16th and 17th Century Scandinavia. Odense University Press. 87-7838-407-9.
  • Statholder (viceroy)Gjerset, Knut (1915). History of the Norwegian People, Volumes I & II. The MacMillan Company.
  • StatholderLarson, Karen (1948). A History of Norway. Princeton University Press. ISBN none.
  • StatholderDerry, T.K. (1960). A Short History of Norway. George Allen & Unwin. ISBN none.
  • Stattholder – by Stagg: Stagg, Frank Noel (1956). East Norway and its Frontier. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1954). West Norway and its Fjords. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1953). The Heart of Norway. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.Stagg, Frank Noel (1958). South Norway. George Allen & Unwin, Ltd. ISBN none.
  • Statholder or ViceroyBarton, Arnold H. (1986). Scandinavia in the Revolutionary Era: 1760 - 1815. University of Minnesota Press. ISBN 0-8166-1393-1.
  • GovernorKent, Neil (2000). The Soul of the North. Reaktion Books, London. ISBN 1-86189-067-2.

I strongly incline toward Statholder since it is widely used in publications and is the term one is most likely to come to Wikipedia to look up. You were contacted because you’ve edited the article. Your counsel and guidance would be appreciated… Please comment at Talk:Governor-general of Norway. Williamborg (Bill) 21:59, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
