Jennifer Ann Crecente[edit]

Thank you for your assessment of this article for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Crime. I have no prior experience with improving the assessment of an article. Do you have any high-level advice on what I should be adding to the article? I've read the information on the Project page but am hoping for more specifics. Also I did not find any templates for crime victims, only criminals and serial killers - would I just enter comparable information into a blank template? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks. Your edits to Margita Bangová talk page[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you made edits to the crime template on Talk:Margita Bangová. Just wanted to let you know that this article was deleted on July 2, 20007. The article page provides a notice which states: "20:03, July 2, 2007 JzG (Talk | contribs) deleted "Margita Bangová" (Egregious violation of WP:BLP. Local news story masquerading as a biography, nothing but a vehicle for bigotry.)" --Chicaneo 17:07, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Criminal Biography Project[edit]

I would be very happy to join the project as a member but I must tell you that I do not contribute to Wikipedia anymore to the extent that I used to. I have less time. But when it comes to Organized Crime , if the information is out there, I can get it for you. So if I can help in that way I would be glad to. Alexbonaro 07:00, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jeremy Bamber assessment[edit]

Hello. You assessed the Jeremy Bamber article for Wikipedia:WikiProject Criminal Biography as low-importance. As the case is well-known in the UK and has been a live national news story for more than twenty years, I should have thought it was at least mid? I'm leaving a note here as I haven't found a page for discussing assessments for this WikiProject. (NB, I've already had some words about this with KenWalker here.) Regards, Xn4 19:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. Not being a member of that Project, I didn't like to change your assessment myself. Xn4 19:33, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Headhunting among tribal societies[edit]

I have proposed renaming this to something like Category:Tribal societies that have practiced headhunting at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 July 19, as the category seems to be a collection of ethnic groups that practiced headhunting, as opposed to articles on headhunting among tribal societies in general. As you created the category, please contribute your opinion on that page. Rigadoun (talk) 17:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Jmm, if I can call you that:) I'd happy to contribute to this project, though with the caveat that I know most about John Bodkin Adams since he killed in my area, Eastbourne, but I can't claim to know too much about other people. So, how shall we go about knocking the crime sphere into shape? Malick78 20:57, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mondo film[edit]

Yeah, maybe the film general would be interested. With regard to the cyrillic, I just copied and pasted the letters I wanted, which I've done with Arabic on some pages. There might be some way I can generate them from my computer just by typing, but I don't know how. Шизомби 01:00, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zodiac Killer[edit]

Yes, count me in. My activity level right now on Wikipedia is low, but I do maintain the Zodiac Killer entry actively. I've already placed the serial killer template on the page, but much of it is blank as Zodiac has not been identified. Let me know if there is anything else I can do with the project. Cannibalism/headhunting categories[edit]

Thanks for bringing up the cannibalism category; I added it to the proposal at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 July 19. I agree they should be named consistently; I'm just not sure of exactly what name would be best. Please put any suggestions/comments you have there. Rigadoun (talk) 15:39, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note on my Talk page. Sure I'd be interested in helping to contribute to articles about serial killers. Invitation to Serial killing[edit]

Thank you for the invitation to join the serial killing group. Notability of Caleb Fairley[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Caleb Fairley, by Precious Roy (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Caleb Fairley seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Caleb Fairley, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:33, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to replace the speedy template on the article you created for Caleb Fairley, as you've added enough to the article to show notability. However, for future reference know that admins are the ones to remove speedy tags, not the the creator of the article. Cool? Precious Roy 20:16, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confused[edit]

I'm a little confused about what sort of advice you want regarding integrating the task force on to the Criminal Biography page. I don't have any special expertise in this. I would just suggest trying to create a subsection and then maybe a subpage that more fully describes the task force. Remember 14:01, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 01:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's more or less what I said above - you go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals. There are instructions at the top of the page on how to propose stubs and when it's a good idea to do so. It's also worth having a look at Wikipedia;Stub, since that explains a bit as to why the proposals are the way they are. Since this is already listed at WP:SFD, though, it would be a good idea to keep all the discussion in one place - a "keep", "rescope" or "rename" decision at SFD is usually seen as equivalent to a successful proposal. A rename would definitely be needed if thsi was kept, though, since the template name doesn't conform to standard stub naming (see WP:WSS/NG).
At the moment, serial killers are covered by crime-bio-stub - I'm not overly sure that there would be enough stubs to warrant a separate type for serial killers, but if there's a WikiProject the threshold used to decide whether a new stub type is worthwhile is lowered a bit. Perhaps expanding the scope of the template and making it murderer-stub would be a good move, since it would make for a larger (and therefore more editor-friendly) category, while still making it useful to your new project. Grutness...wha? 02:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'll have to give me some examples of what you are talking about, because the article has been copyedited by at least 3 other editors, so there are probably changes to sentence structure that I'm not aware of off hand. Chances are, they are my sentences, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean be "taking them out paragraph length". RE: New Serial Killer Task Force[edit]

Hey, I don't think you will get many people who think killers are cool. This is wikipedia remember, not a primary school classroom! :)

I'm trying to think back to what I did with WP:LE to give you advice. Set up a scope so you clearly know what is in and what is out of your project, that will be very useful. Keep things ticking over too, set up litle projects for each week or every other week, to get a certain number of articles made or to blue-link a template full or redlinks, and so on. Make sure you have links to the appropriate wiki pages on POV and MoS so your members can read through article writing tips. That's about it really. Members turn up and the project begins to run itself, particularly when admins become members of it.

Oh yeah, and try not to imply that you are "in charge" as that can make people iffy, use words like "lead coordinator" or something :D let me know if you have any questions! SGGH speak! 15:10, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jmm6f488[edit]

Just saw your message on my talk page. I actually attempt not to promote any particular viewpoint on Wikipedia, other than upholding the general guidelines of the project. The problem, as I see it, is that certain users like SqueakBox are letting their own emotionalism regarding this very controversial topic prevent them from editing properly. For example, in the past SqueakBox has simply blanked, redirected, merged, and outright deleted articles without any consensus to do so. Recently, he has taken to nominating articles for deletion that are clearly notable, such as the article on NAMBLA. I have vocally opposed some of his more disruptive and out-of-process actions, and for this I have been labeled a pervert, a troll, and a "pedophile activist" by him.

SqueakBox seems to believe that the only way to promote a neutral point of view regarding these articles is to scrap them altogether, particularly when the articles are related to people or groups with viewpoints similar to NAMBLA. However, there are several fundamental values of Wikipedia, including comprehensiveness of encyclopedic knowledge and opposition to censorship, that clearly warrant these articles remaining. Just as we can objectively document the views of marijuana advocates or abortion advocates or any other activists out there, we can objectively document peoples' views concerning a subject such as this.

SqueakBox is temporarily banned at the moment, I believe, for a violation of the 3RR at a PAW-related article. Anyway, regardless of your knowledge regarding this topic, it's nice to have another person keeping their eye on these articles, and I invite you to do so. It's always helpful to have an outside person offer an objective opinion concerning the disputes that occasionally arise. Mike D78 22:00, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Again[edit]

I am making progress with Lords of Chaos (book). If you have a few minutes, tell me what you thing... I clearly disagree with Moynihan's views and this could maybe affect my ability to write from a NPOV, but I think I have sourced the statement that he is an "extreme rightist" correctly. I also did some formatting at Lords of Chaos (self-styled teen militia). Zara1709 12:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for your comment on my talk page. Originally I only wanted to expand Lords of Chaos (book) slightly so that I had an example of a book that puts forward the thesis that is currently labelled "The collective Aryan unconscious" in Nazi occultism. But it seems that there is much more work to be done related to Varg Vikernes, just check Black Metal Inner Circle.

Howdy! On the Anna Svidersky AfD you expressed sentiments to keep the content regarding the notability of the aftermath following her death. I recently created the Mourning sickness article with a section ascribed to Svidersky and the reaction to her death. Peer review[edit]

You were right at first to transclude the Scientific peer review in the peer review page. That would ensure that the discussion takes place in one place. It is quite common. "She is quite famous" doesn't cut it in AfD; you need to have specific reasons to keep an article, and WP:PORNBIO guides us here. For example, is she notable with a genre? I don't think looking young is a particular genre within porn, but you never know. Has she won any pornographic awards? Pedophilia Activism Articles[edit]

I am new at nominating so could use your advice. The reason I nominated these articles is that there is a constant struggle going on between two sides of the article. One side wants to make pedophiles seem like victims of societies Victorian ideas about sexuality the other side wants to sensationalize pedophilia. Although I find sex with children reprehensible in all forms I think that these articles can be written in a similar vein to say holocaust denial. I think both topics speak for themselves without any need to exaggerate. (I'm mean come on sex with children doesn't effect them and that Hitler didn't want to kill Jews.) I'm rambling but any advice would be appreciated. Jmm6f488 20:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I try to avoid controversial topics like the plague, for the very reason you've brought up. Even if the article is brought into alignment with Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, it still needs constant tending to maintain that perspective. Sorry, I don't have a better suggestion for you. — RJH (talk) 15:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crime Classification manual[edit]

As you probably realize, there are now 2 articles, CCNM, and CCM 1st ed. I suggest you merge the content of the 1st ed. into the main article, without the links to particular murderers. I'm not sure about the classification of crimes, but try to include it. I dont think dealing with the problems by having duplicate articles is either necessary or advisable. DGG (talk) 00:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those links are simply not appropriate. this is an article about the CCM, not about murder. I strongly suggest you remove them yourself. And that you immediately combine the two articles, as otherwise their present state is very likely to get them both noticed for deletion. DGG (talk) 18:51, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will wait till you get a single article finished. DGG (talk) 19:16, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category renaming[edit]

Musical group categories[edit]

Hi, I saw that you have recently created a whole bunch of musical group categories, like Category:Australian black metal. Since these are intersection categories (an intersection of genre and nationality in this case), they need to have one parent category for each side of the intersection. For example, you put my example category in Category:Black metal musical groups, which satisfies the requirement for a by-genre parent; I added it to Category:Australian heavy metal musical groups, which satisfies the requirement for a by-nationality parent. The other categories you created need similar changes. Also, many of them need renaming for consistency with other related categories, but I think you're already aware of that. You may want to refer to the general guidelines for categorizing musicians and musical groups at WP:MUSCAT, although you should be aware that parts of that are considered a bit obsolete and/or optional, especially the requirement for intermediate X-by-Y categories. Still, I think it may help you see the bigger picture. Anyway, aside from some minor rookie mistakes, I think you're doing a fine job, so please keep it up. Cheers, Xtifr tälk 22:34, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes "Australian black metal musical groups" would probably be the best name, since it matches the parent category and other metal group categories. And yeah, the categories can and probably should be nominated for renaming as a group. It's a little tricky, but not too hard, and if you say something like "I recently created these categories, and would like them renamed for consistency" in your nomination, people will happily overlook or correct any mistakes you might make. If you get stuck or can't figure it out, let me know, and I'll see what I can do to help. Cheers, Xtifr tälk 04:39, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For countries that only have one or two entries, you can make a category, but you don't have to, and sometimes it's better not to--especially if you're dealing with a sub-genre like black metal, where you could use a broader category. Admins are not supposed to delete small categories if they're part of an established schema like WP:MUSCAT, but not all of them know that, and sometimes its just easier not to push things. So if I had, say, two Peruvian black metal groups that I wanted to categorize, I could make Category:Peruvian black metal musical groups, but I would more likely put them in both Category:Black metal musical groups and Category:Peruvian heavy metal musical groups. Which would probably already exist if there were enough of a metal scene in Peru to support two notable black metal groups--I may not have picked the best example there, but I hope you get the idea. It's a judgment call. Cheers, Xtifr tälk 09:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I reverted your addition of his name to the category of Canadian Serial Killers, because his trial is still ongoing. I guess you missed the rem'd note above the categories section, and the extensive discussion on the talkpage. Anchoress 03:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Corporate Justice accusation[edit]

Hey did you know that you are mentioned by CSO as an Ephebophilia. Jmm6f488 06:42, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wish! Being called an ephebeophile would be a step up from what they've got! Ephebophilia/hebephilia is far less maligned and can be legally expressed. Rather they're calling me a 'pedophile' which is entirely inaccurate, not to mention making things up about my planning to go after minors and stuff just because I want a six pack. Unfortunately, CSO is not an actual wiki, it just uses the freely available open software. Try registering for yourself. Editing is open to a select group (I'm not sure how many, I'm guessing maybe a dozen?) and they don't have policies on neutrality, bias, fact verification, etc. I've e-mailed them a couple times requesting that if they must keep that up, to at least make it more accurate. They haven't replied. Essentially, it's a libel suit waiting to happen, but I can't afford a lawyer and for me personally it wouldn't just be an interstate, but an international issue. Far too troublesome, so for the moment I'm going to attempt to ignore it, and hope that I'll have moved out on my own before they get to the level of harassing me in person due to their hastily conceived conclusions. Anyway, I've removed your link because I'd rather not give them any more traffic than they already have by increasing their PageCount, but anyone involved will know where to look for it if they want to (after all you can just check the history if need be). I'm also not quite certain if I should leave messages pertaining to this issue up on my talk page. After all, it is not directly related to editing wikipedia articles, and might be better suited for MetaWiki, or personal communication between us. Leaving it up might be considered 'pedophile advocacy' or something, lol. It's moreso simply a personal issue involving false statements made by an independant organization, the leader of whom (Xavier) has actually been indefinately banned from Wikipedia for his methods of editing. Do you know who I could contact pertaining whether or not I'm permitted to have correspondance related to this issue up on my talk page? Tyciol 15:28, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hanna Reitsch.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hanna Reitsch.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Fair use rationale for File:David_Berkowitz.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:David_Berkowitz.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rockfang (talk) 11:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated P Jay Crips, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/P Jay Crips. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Replaceable fair use Image:Joel Rifkin.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Joel Rifkin.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 21:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Joel Rifkin.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Joel Rifkin.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 21:48, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
