American Foursquare - Who built it?

Hi,

My wife's grandfather owns a house in NW Iowa with a striking resemblance to the house you photographed for the American Foursquare page. Some of her family members would like to believe it's a Sears kit home, but I can't find any illustrations that match the house.

Twain House Photo Usage

Hello! My name is Jim Wornell, and I'm a graphic designer for Zetron, a communications company in Seattle.

Zetron puts out a newsletter periodically showcasing some of the companies we work with and their success stories with our products. One of our upcoming stories deals with Ralls County, MO. I noticed the picture you took of Mark Twain's boyhood home (the story we're working on has a small snippet talking about Hannibal and Twain), and I was wondering if it would be ok to use it for the back of the newsletter? Falkland Islands

You should be aware that he has a very long (four-year) history of attempting to game the system in the area of units on Falklands articles. That there are several rules adopted, including WP:UNITS and WP:FALKLANDSUNITS that deal precisely with the question being raised. Martin claims that WP:FALKLANDSUNITS does not apply, quibbling with the way consensus was reached in June 2010, even though the rule has been widely followed since then and even though all editors who objected in 2010 - including Martin himself, who recommended that users follow it "to the letter" - have since accepted it as consensus. He is now attempting to state that, because you are an admin, your stated position overrides all of those rules and cannot be questioned. Kahastok talk 18:35, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Aaron Swartz - HELP!

Sadly, the editing behavior and incivility for which you administered a 12-hour block to IP 75.67.246.17, along with a request that 75.67.246.17, upon his return, collaborate civilly, has not borne fruit. Or, at least, the fruit it's borne is exceedingly bitter. 75.67.246.17 has acknowledged on the Swartz talk page that he is User:CarthCarsen, recipient of an earlier 31-hour block for the same kind of behavior. As soon as he was able, he has resumed his pattern of vexatious editing. Would you please review his edits since the most recent block expired, and his posts to the talk page?

It's possible that he's right, while MarkBernstein, Bonusballs, myself and others are a cabal of wrong-headed, evil bullies. If so, please help guide us aright. David in DC (talk) 18:10, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

David Lillehaug

Greetings.

Having seen your edit summaries for David Lillehaug, you seem to be quite certain that Lillehaug lives in Edina. I am interested in knowing how you are certain about this. If you can tell me how, I would be willing to accept that he resides in Edina because as it stands now, we have two sources that says he lives in two different places. While you mention that the source I provided is the only source that says he lives in Minneapolis, mind you the source you provided is the only one that mentions that he lives in Edina.

When it comes to the source I provided being a blog, it is also a verbatim copy of a press release that is available here. Also, it is a blog that is maintained by the governor's office and so it should not be readily discounted on the sole basis of it being a blog.

I am about to make several additions to the article, but I won't change his residence for now.

Well, the source I cite is Augustana College's website giving biographical information on each member of its governing board, which is exactly the same as what they publish in print. The source you gave is a blog that copies a press release written the day before yesterday by some unnamed staffer in the governor's office. Which do you trust? (I do happen to know personally that David lives in Edina and works in downtown Minneapolis, but what I know is not a source. Why did you nominate the image for deletion, the photo of a free image of him? It said to "Click Here to Download a Full-Resolution Image".

Croissant image

Thanks for contributing a new image to the croissant page. I agree that it is technically superior to the old image. Unfortunately, as its name "crescent roll" suggests, it is not a picture of an actual croissant, which is flaky and laminated, but of a US-style crescent roll, which isn't the same thing. Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Jonathunder. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

When using certain templates (such as welcome templates and user warnings) on talk pages, don't forget to substitute them by adding subst: to the front template tag. For example, use {{subst:uw-test1}} instead of {{uw-test1}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Formalising the status of WP:FALKLANDSUNITS

The page WP:FALKLANDSUNITS has not yet been formally adopted as an offical guideline. I have created a proposal to regularise the position. Please feel free to comment Wikipedia talk:WikiProject South America/Falkland Islands work group/Units#Proposal for acceptance as a formal guideline. If the proposal is accepted, then the page will indeed be part of Wikipedia policy, otherwise it will be tagged a "failed proposal". Either way the uncertainty that has dogged this page for the last three years will be resolved. This message is being sent to every editor of good standing who has contributed here or here. Theresa Obermeyer

Your deletion of Theresa Obermeyer has been criticized by me and others at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2013 September 20. It was not a correct application of G4, since the article had never been deleted anyway, and there were no BLP concerns warranting a deletion (certainly not of all revisions, if there were revisions you specifically thought were problematic, you were free to delete those of course). Just thirding this. G4 is clearly an incorrect criteria. You shouldn't be speedy deleting things unless it meets a criteria or there is such a rush and so obviously the right thing to do that IAR needs to be invoked. 9/27/13 I seem to be getting nowhere with my requests to delete the redirection of my name/s "Theresa Obermeyer" and "Theresa Nangle Obermeyer" that are still redirected to:”United States Senate Election in Alaska 1996." This has been posted like this for about two weeks. Of course, anyone who checks "U.S. Senate Race 1996" can get the election results which is as it should be. As I have written previously, I am not an expert on Wikipedia. I am one person. I cannot believe that so many comments have been written about me. I truly do not want nor do I deserve so much attention. I am not a politician nor am I a public figure. I have not run for public office for almost a decade. It is inappropriate that my name is only ”United States Senate Election in Alaska 1996.” This campaign was 17 years ago. Ted Stevens left the U.S. Senate in 2008 and died in 2010. I would appreciate the deletion of my name completely. I sincerely do not understand why my name was posted on Wikipedia at all. The current redirection to "United States Senate Election in Alaska 1996" harms me professionally. It is as though that is the only thing I have ever done in my life. Please delete my name from Wikipedia completely. Below is my short vita. 161 Words THERESA NANGLE OBERMEYER, Ph.D., has held Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate since 1979 and Alaska Real Estate Broker’s License since 1979.
