Strike The Mics
Thanks Missionedit. I used a template from many other pages that are very similar. The page is linked to the Artist, and there are sources there for the piece. I can simply copy and paste them, but for reference purposes they are linked.

- Hello Howard Gibson! I am sorry to inform you that it is not encouraged to add to or create a page about yourself, since bias and resume-style writing can very easily become part of an article this way. I can add these sources for you, if you would like. Some good pages on learning on how to cite references in articles are Wikipedia:citing sources, Wikipedia:Embedded citations and Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. By the way, when you post on someone's talk page, don't forget to place 4 tiles (~~~~) after your post and it will produce your username and the date. Thank you so much for continuing to contribute to Wikipedia! (we need all the help we can get!) All our editors do our best to make Wikipedia easy to use and understand. Unfortunately, it confuses most new editors anyway :) So what do you want to do?. ~ Anastasia (talk) 18:07, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Primary and secondary sources
Hi I have a question about use of secondary sources if I may:
I am using a textbook to add material and create references in some articles and I am not clear what the convention is on how to use these. For example, if a piece of information contained in the textbook has an end note which records the primary source, should the Wikipedia article contain the reference to the secondary source (which I have read) or to the cited primary source (which I have not)?
Many thanks
Mccapra (talk) 19:55, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Mcccapra, thanks for contacting me!
This is a very interesting question. If this is reputible textbook you are using, it makes most sense to cite the textbook and not the primary source. After all, you have read and got the information from the textbook, not the primary source. So you have been doing it the correct way all along :) ~ Anastasia (talk) 16:45, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
OK great thanks for clarifying that. All the best Mccapra (talk) 03:11, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Problems with Apostrophes
Hi Anastasia. I am having a problem I wonder if you can advise me on. There are a number of articles on Wikipedia with a title which is a proper name, and which contain an apostrophe. Wikipedia seems happy to allow you to create an article with this characteristic, but when I try creating a link from one article to another which has this apostrophe, the link fails. Examples I have tried recently include:
Qal'at Najm Maarrat al-Nu'man Al-Mu'azzam
Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Mccapra (talk) 08:29, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Hmmmm I see they all work fine on your talk page - not sure why they won't link from one article to another! Mccapra (talk) 08:31, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Aaargh! As ever, as soon as you ask someone else you figure it out yourself. The existing articles use a vertical apostrophe and because I write the new articles in Microsoft Word first it was importing my apostrophes as ′ rather than ', so they didn't match. Sorry to bother you and thanks anyway! 08:38, 26 October 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mccapra (talk • contribs)

Images of FG Natesa Iyer
I have started the wikipedia article on F. G. Natesa Iyer. I had uploaded a few images in Wikipedia, two of which were used in the article. The first one, File:FGN as Hiranyakashyapu.jpg was removed on October 29th 2013. The second image file, a part of the infobox, File:F. G. Natesa Iyer image.jpg- has been listed for possible deletion. Please let me know how to reinsert these files back to Wikipedia and to the article. There are a few more images of his, which can be uploaded and used in the article.
Anant (talk) 09:46, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well, first of all, how did you upload this files to Wikipedia? Do you own them or are they someone else's work? For all images uploaded to Wikipedia, the copyright status must be made clear. ~ Anastasia (talk) 14:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- These photos have be in the public domain for the last few decades. Some of the photos are nearly a hundred years old.
Anant (talk) 15:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmm, it seems to me that someone who works with image copyrights has been a little paranoid.
- But then images are not really my area of expertise, so I would advise you to ask someone at the Wikipedia:Help desk for instruction on what to do next. Don't give up! But beware, People tend to be pretty stubborn when it comes to doing things their own way :)
- Sorry I can't be of more help to you! Wiki blessings to you, ~ Anastasia (talk) 19:17, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Eleonora Vindau may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

The article Anita Kelsey - Cat Behaviourist has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Fails WP:GNG. Two of the references essentially self-published, other is specialist & although ok to back claims does not establish notability. Nothing else out there.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TheLongTone (talk) 00:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

- If you are refering to the comment ElHef left on your talk page, it seems when you edited the page Directional solidification, you deleted text that was necessary to the article. If you didn't edit this article, you were probably mistaken for someone else who uses the same IP address as you. You can prevent this from happening again by creating a user account. I am well aware of Wikipedia's lack of boldness when it comes to commentary, my added observations on the Zeus statue do not constitute "fiction". Fiction is something that is concocted from imagination. The Zeus does have a mid forehead prominence, that seems abnormal. He does have a "mane" of hair. He looks older than one would expect the statues of Hercules. He has a long-flowing beard. All those are not fictional items but clearly describe the statue. One consideration is how do we assign the statue to Zeus as opposed to a number of other possible attributions. The sources suggest that the prototypic depiction of Jupiter/Zeus was bearded and had long curls, but that does not seem completely satisfactory to me, given other statuary from the time, such as the Lacoon also depicting similar features in a plain human.
I think a plainer comment, such as "the statement was not substantiated by citations and represents new research" is more accurate. Your commentary seems excessively snide, it may be immaturity when it comes to internet dealings. If you wish I can work with you to add some comments that address the attribution to Zeus.Rococo1700 (talk) 23:42, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Please accept my humble apology for sounding snide in any way. I was merely trying to form an edit summary that correctly summarized what I did. I failed miserably. The reason why I deleted that sentence was because it seemed un-encyclopedic in the very descriptive and high school essay-like way it was written (not a bad thing at all, it's just not for Wikipedia). I would love to discuss a better way write it with you.
- Maybe next time you are frustrated with an editor you think is so obviously below yourself, you should make a point not to refer them as "immature" and "snide". It's called kindness and respect :) ~ Anastasia (talk) 00:54, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Point taken. I am not an expert on the subject, just an avid producer of stubs. I was hoping to generate some commentary on this zeus statue, and perhaps start some catalogue of major ancient sculpture, of which the Vatican is one of the major collections. I agree my documentation may have been high-schoolish, the goal was more olympian, and perhaps the language excessively so. I will try better. Rococo1700 (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Mabye something like this would be a better wording: "The statue is a depiction of the ancient Greek god Zeus, portraying him with a noticeably prominent forehead, perhaps because, according to Greek mythology, the goddess Athena was birthed from Zeus' forehead." ?? Sorry I didn't think of rewording it before. Thank you so much for finding your manners :) ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:32, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Hey!
I saw that you had looked over my page, and noted that I should add more citations. What should I do to fix this problem?
Thx, Claire — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClaireG2014 (talk • contribs) 19:40, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Clare,
- The reason I added this tag to the Westminster School (Annandale, Virginia) was that the only source you had cited for the whole article was the school's website. Wikipedia articles should have multiple, secondary sources per Wikipedia:Verifiability. I see that you have added pointsoflight.org, a reliable secondary source, to the article. Adding one more source should be enough to remove the tag. Thank you so much for contributing to Wikipedia! Just remember to sign all your talk page posts with 4 tildes (~~~~) :)

Hi Missionedit, thank you so much for inviting me to the teahouse, this has been a fruitful experience for me, and specially I have benefited a lot in the Wikipedia adventure, and already earned an introductory badge. However, I will need your help with an article I have written and edited to include verifiable sources, nearly a month ago and is still waiting for a review. Pharmaceutical Association of Mauritius". Hi Anastasia, I've occasionally noticed your name and I see that you do plenty of fine work. Would the reviewer userright be something that could be of help to you at all? If so, I'd be happy to grant it. At any rate, keep up your great work! Best. Acalamari 09:19, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Although free content is welcome on Wikipedia, this site is not just place to copy and paste text from other websites. Andrew Brook
Hi,
I hope all is well this afternoon. I looked at the notability criterion and my article does meet the criterion in at least 2 ways: 1) Andrew Brook received the Rhodes scholar award (which is one of the highest awards someone can receive while they are in university and 2) most of the references I left at the bottom were to reviews in journals about the book. So unless an academic article about a book doesn't meet the criterion, I think that must be a mistake.
Best,
Brandon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandon Michaud (talk • contribs) 21:48, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Brandon Michaud, these are the reasons why your submission was declined as not meeting the notability criterion: 1) No sources are cited which state that Andrew Brook was Rhodes scholar, including the Rhodes scholars list at Oxford. 2) Because a book was reviewed several journals doesn't make it's author necessarily notable. If anything, an article about the book would be more appropriate.

- Thank you for tackling the immense (but very rewarding) project of learning how to edit Wikipedia! When I first started editing Wikipedia, I felt very overwhelmed by all the policies and guidelines and gizmos that keep it running, not being used to using Wiki Markup and all that computer stuff. But pretty soon, I realized that everyone here is very friendly (except for the occasional WikiTroll :] ), and if I have any questions, I can just ask someone more experienced than me. So just keep plugging along, and you will eventually get there! One the things that really helped me was the Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user program. Adoption by another user really is a great resource, although it does require a moderate amount of commitment.

Trouble with Sources
Hello, thank you for making your page available to us newbies! I am having a bit of trouble with a section of the page Zico (rapper) regarding a 2013 diss battle that went on within the Korean hip hop scene.
My main problem is that while a lot of sources which report on Korean hiphop can verify its ongoings, those sources walk the line between news and opinion constantly and they cannot be considered Wikireliable, or the more reliable sources have not explicitly translated the Zico-related parts of the story. "E-Sens responds to Gaeko with 'True Story' and Simon D drops 'Control' in response to Swings". Allkpop. Retrieved 9 July 2014."Swings Starts It All: K-Hip-Hop And "Control," Part 1". Seoulbeats. Retrieved 9 July 2014. Here are some Korean sources:"Korean "Control" Track History". HiphopPlaya. Retrieved 9 July 2014."something like "Amoeba Culture Fights Back"". Nate News. Retrieved 9 July 2014.
I suppose the root of the problem is that most of these hiphop artists decided to self-publish their response tracks on Soundcloud, but the mainstream media didn't follow it very closely. There aren't many small journalistic organizations in Korea, you just have your big portals. So I have the first-hand tracks, and I have what I think are reliable translations, except they have .blogspot ending from Uncharted Sound, but I just don't really have any unifying elements. Should I just request translations for some of the Korean articles? Or abandon it altogether? Any advice would really be appreciated Asdklf; (talk) 17:49, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Asdklf;
- Requesting translation maybe a good idea, but perhaps might not be worth the effort. You can cite non-English sources in the English Wikipedia without translation (see WP:NONENG). The citing of music tracks and other audio is also acceptable (see WP:CT). If no other sources can be found to back this section up than the ones you already have, and you know that the topic is notable, it would be best to only include information that is found in multiple sources to help establish it's verifiablity. Be VERY careful in including only what's necessary, biographies of living people can get tricky with sources like this. I understand your dilemma--hmmm. A hard one to solve. ~ Anastasia (talk) 19:37, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, so I linked the english lyrics not AS references but into the references so they are connected to the soundcloud entries and located a source which better encapsulates the whole diss-track response thing in total so I believe there is now appropriate context. Thank you for the advice! I think just writing everything out helped a lot. Thank you for your time!Asdklf; (talk) 03:32, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Asdklf;

- @UnitedStatesofAmerica2014: Well, one thing you could possibly do to clean up the prose is to submit a copyedit request to the Guild of Copyeditors. This will cause someone experienced in copyediting to come and have a go-over of the page. ~ Anastasia (talk) 02:48, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, and draft question
Anastasia, thank you for the welcome! User:Ocaasi suggested after I've written my draft to ask at the teahouse for help. I hope you will. I'm an artist and feel like I've written a draft that, while I have the COI issue, is very impartial and verifiable. I only used information that could be found on cited sources. I tried to follow guidelines and policy as best I could and write the best draft I could. I have it as a draft on my User:Dedlen page. I don't know what to do now. I didn't want to submit it before reaching out to the editor community to see what you would say. I hope it's acceptable and notable and worth submitting. Please let me know! Dedlen (talk) 20:40, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, you're in luck! It so happens that as well as being a Teahouse host, I am also a reviewer of article drafts at Wikipedia:Articles for Creation. Looking at the article from a non-biased point of view, I would say that your article meets the notability guideline. You've done a pretty good job with sourcing and categories. However, it is next to impossible to create an article about yourself that is completely unbiased, especially since when looking at yourself, it hard consider which info should be included and which info should not. Your wording/tone leaves a little to be desired in an encyclopedia article, but this can be easily fixed once it's approved. As a guess, your article will probably pass review. But don't bet on it, I'm only human :) One other thing you should know- when you submit your article for review, expect a long wait. There are over 1000 submissions waiting to be reviewed and only so many reviewers. ~ Anastasia (talk) 20:57, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for checking it out! What do I do next? Do I use the submit button in the draft notice on my page? Is there a way to submit it directly to you? Dedlen (talk) 21:06, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Question
Thanks for reviewing, but I have an honest question. I'd like to edit and submit for a re-review, but I'm a tad confused. Is not WordPress.org, Mashable, Matt Cutts, Go Daddy (yep- the web host, on their blog), and The Guardian not noteworthy enough? I've cited those sources. I mean, I could listed hundreds of URLs from lots of resources. WordPress Powers 20% of the entire Internet and this guy and his company is responsible for creating a SEO tool for WordPress (actually 2) that is well known all over the world. His plugin is referenced in SEOMoz, Neil Patel of QuickSprout and KissMetrics mention his plugin, WPBeginner, and much more. How much notable are you looking for? I don't want to sound rude, but I honestly need to know. :) NileFlores (talk) 01:02, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
- There's nothing rude about wanting to understand :) I apologize for not clarifying further! Notability is not determined by the number of sources. It depends on the quality of the sources, and how they are related to the subject. WordPress.org is definitely a huge corporation. However, sources from WordPress do not establish notability in this instance because Yoast is affiliated with WordPress. Same with The Guardian, Yoast was paid to help them change their domain. See Wikipedia:Independent sources for more info.
- The other sources, Mashable and Matt Cutts, are independent, but there is nothing more than a passing mention of Yoast in the articles cited. If you want to the establish notability of this company, independent, reliable sources which give significant coverage of it are needed. See the Wikipedia:Golden rule. Does that answer all of your question? ~ Anastasia (talk) 02:53, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

User:Dedlen followup question
I went ahead and used the submit button for my draft and followed the suggestion to move it to Draft:Dedlen for consideration. Is there a way for it to be assigned to you since you're already familiar with it? Thanks again for your help! Dedlen (talk) 14:54, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Dedlen: Well, editors usually "assign" themselves to articles of their choice. I would feel a little weird reviewing an article which I predicted would pass, if you know what I mean :) I'll see what I can do. ~ Anastasia (talk) 21:10, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
- thank you. It was already reviewed! With 900+ I didn't expect that fast. So I tried to modify the phrases that were suggested I change. I'm waiting to find out the reviewer's thoughts. @Dedlen: 99% of the time a reviewer will not review the same article again, for many reasons. One of them is that there are so many different reviewers. Another is just preference. Unless you ask your reviewer (or any reviewer, see the reviewer list) to review it specifically, someone else will review it instead. FYI your article was only reviewed so quickly because I asked someone to do it :) ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:20, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Auto duplicate page creation for 1 topic
Hi,
I created a page named LensKart. In first attempt it got live with removing 90% content and when i edited new content and updated. The updated content got approved but it created a new page with new URL.
Old page-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenskart New page- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LensKart
I updated fresh content on old page which got approved but it got live with separate new page.
I want https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LensKart page live and remove this one- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenskart
Regards,

- Oh. I didn't realize that there was another live LensKart page when I approved your new draft. Stupid of me. Easy fix, though--I'll just redirect Lenskart to LensKart we'll be all set. Don't forget to sign your comments :) ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:05, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- I decided to move the new Lenskart content under the title of the old one, and redirect the new title to the old one. Kind of confusing to explain, so take a look for yourself. The reason I did this is because all the sources you cited refer to the company as Lenskart, not Lenskart, make this the widely accepted spelling by anyone who looks it up. See WP:COMMONNAME for more info. ~ Anastasia (talk) 17:22, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
