The possible deletion of this article needs to be done via AfD, not Prod. AfD is the only way it can be discussed. DGG ( talk ) 01:40, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary Sanctions Notification - American Politics[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Signature[edit]

Hi, I noticed that your signature does not contain a link to your user page, which is a requirement for custom signatures, so you might want to fix that. Thanks. John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk) 06:42, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OOPS, I broke it. Fixed, thank you. -- NoCOBOL (talk) 06:47, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 22[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Vulgate (disambiguation), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Justin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:25, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Have you edited under another name?[edit]

Welcome. Everyone in welcome here. But, because your edits seem to reveal a familiarity with our editing process and arcane usages and conventions, I thought that I would mention that editors who have previously edited under a different name are required to disclose their past editing history.E.M.Gregory (talk) 17:43, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've never had any real interaction, beyond reading it, with Wikipedia before December. With that said, I recognize how my activity pattern can be a little suspicious, getting into the administration before I get into the actual editing, but strangely this is an area that I am interested in, and Wikipedia provides a wide variety of sources for one interested in learning the procedures. -- NoCOBOL (talk) 19:25, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle problems[edit]

I just tried to create an AfD, and Twinkle failed on me as well, so it's not just you :-) Fram (talk) 15:06, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's being discusssed now at the bottom of Wikipedia talk:Twinkle, it seems that a few others at least had the same issues. Fram (talk) 15:34, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fishing Expeditions[edit]

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

Hmmm, tasty! -- NoCOBOL (talk) 06:11, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your interests[edit]

Looking at your User Page, you might like to consider signing up to Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical Greece and Rome. Despite the name, there are editors there interested in everything up to Late Latin. In my experience, it is a seriously good WikiProject with several very good and very helpful editors. Some falafel for you![edit]

Thank you for the work you doing on Israeli occupation of the West Bank Shrike (talk) 16:27, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nishidani was brought many times for civility issues at WP:AE if you think that he cross a line you may file a complaint there.--Shrike (talk) 16:28, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you - though I am now genuinely tempted to change my dinner plans to falafels... As for WP:AE, I think I will leave it for now, and if they choose to persist, or another complaint about civility is raised in regards to them in the future, I may bring it up. -- NoCOBOL (talk) 16:36, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you need some sources there is WP:RX and WP:LIBRARY I am also have access to some of the sources --Shrike (talk) 18:37, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for History of Alexander[edit]

On 27 February 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article History of Alexander, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Cleitarchus's History of Alexander, written in the fourth century BC, was criticized by contemporaries as being overly sensational? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/History of Alexander. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, History of Alexander), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
