Reimaged series[edit]

  • Downloaded Hi. I figured this would be the best place to ask. Does anyone want a go at rewriting the article Downloaded (Battlestar Galactica) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)? It's part of an idea I've had to get all of the 2007 Hugo Award for Dramatic Presentation, Short Form nominees in a featured topic - it doesn't need to be an FA, just a GA (two of the episodes for that award are doing well at FAC right now). Thanks, Will (talk) 20:16, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy ...is in bad need of an update. Its talk page wasn't even tagged with the project banner until I got there just now. Hasn't been updated to even include the already-released webisodes. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 10:12, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Season articles I've started a discussion on creating articles for the individual seasons of BSG (i.e. Stargate SG-1 (season 1), The Wire (season 1)). You can comment on it here.--Marcus Brute (talk) 01:37, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Oath (Battlestar Galactica) Since I don't actually have a wikipedia username, I'm not going to edit this bit myself, but I couldn't help notice that everytime Bill Adama is mentioned, the author of the article refers to him as Commander Adama. Now unless I've missed an episode, and he was stripped of rank, he's still an Admiral. I'm fairly certain that it would still link back to his page even if it said his proper rank instead of Commander. 75.65.2.45 (talk) 10:02, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Episode numering and production codesI'm inviting anyone for additional input on Talk:33 (Battlestar Galactica), where pd_THOR and I are engaged in a discussion regarding (sourcing of) production codes and episode numbering. EdokterTalk 12:45, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted articles list[edit]

Articles are to be listed in chronological order from oldest. Perhaps the largest article purge for this project was:

  • A whole bunch of articles up for deletion

Kept[edit]

Merged or redirected[edit]

  • There are currently 3 versions of Boxey out there Boxey, Boxey (Battlestar Galactica) and Captain Troy all started in Nov. '06 with in a few days/hours of each other. I currently have nominated Boxey and Boxey (BSG) to be merged together, as the pages redupe info and the are both stubs. I would encourage a full Boxey merge to help the character to still have a page, as currently there is a wave of AfD for the fictional genres. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 03:33, 9 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]
The BSG copy is a dab page. Merge the TOS Boxey page into a list of minor characters, which we currently don't have for TOS or 1980. We also are missing Lt. Dillon, a main character from 1980... 70.55.84.89 (talk) 05:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:AFD on Diana Seelix, right now. 70.55.84.89 (talk) 05:26, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • There's a proposal to rename Frack to Frak... 70.51.9.170 (talk) 09:25, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • User:Zxcvbnm just merged a bunch of articles together and nominated Category:Battlestar Galactica objects for deletion. 76.66.193.90 (talk) 06:12, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Colonial Forces (Battlestar Galactica) has been sent for deletion via WP:PROD. If you wish to keep the article, delete the notice template. If you wish to delete the article, leave the template in place. 76.66.196.229 (talk) 06:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC)2003 Reimagining[reply]
  • A few proposals: I've recently returned to editing Wikipedia and have found a few things that I think need to be mentioned about articles to do with the new series. First, why is there a page on the 2003 Reimagining when it contains infomation similar to that on the main BSG page, the reimagining article should be merged with the main page and the miniseries page, as there is alot of duplicate information on those pages. Also I have noticed that a lot of the BSG episode articles are up for notability guidelines, because of this I think we should do what has been done with the Stargate SG-1 season articles, and have a basic episode list and then a seperate page for each season of BSG with production and reception details, whislt selecting the more notable episodes to have seperate articles. I won't go ahead with these changes until I hear from some people on this project and if you have any different ideas. So post your opinions, if I don't receive any I will assume your agreement and go ahead with my ideas. --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 17:14, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think 2003 reimagining should remain, and fix the other article so there is less repetition, instead have them refer to 2003 article. I also think a 1978 article should be written as the complement to the 2003 article, and similarly fix the movie, original TV series and 1980 articles. 76.66.193.90 (talk) 12:41, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since there were no objections after a week, I performed the merge. --BlueSquadronRaven 17:24, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed[edit]

The result was delete. If the matter is closed, shouldn't such should be reflected here? -- Harshael (talk) 23:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right, right now the old page merely redirects to the External links section of the Battlestar Galactica article. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Mail Me 01:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads-up. Skomorokh 05:31, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Episode list redesign[edit]

Want to some feedback on this episodes list redesign I have made in order to let the episode list better match other DVD shows like List of Stargate SG-1 episodes or List of Lost episodes. Also need to add Blu-ray releases, but not sure which release date to include. Would appreicate any feedback you can give me. Its located here User:Mollsmolyneux/Sandbox/BSG Episode List. Thanks --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 13:21, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and created that article. Any help with editing it is appreciated.--DrWho42 (talk) 09:43, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Updates to TV#MOS[edit]

I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:11, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fake reference contributing much false content "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Beyond Caprica"[edit]

All of the citations regarding the character of the 12 colonies refer to a book called "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide :Beyond Caprica by Bob Harris, DK publishing 2010, ISBN 9780756673116".

I have researched and can find no existence of such a book, even using the ISBN number. It appears to be a joke, playing on the many travel books that start with "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to: (fill in the blank"). But I can find no evidence of such a book being written in this series about a fictional place.

I propose that any content attributed to this non-existent book be removed from all of that Battlestar Wikis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.92.169.22 (talk) 05:01, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The book can be found here, I have one myself and the content in this article is valid. -- Philly boy92 (talk) 15:58, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stub type[edit]

Greetings! A stub template or category which you created has been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type most likely doesn't meet Wikipedia requirements for a stub type, through failure to meet standards relating to the name, scope, current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! This message is boilerplate, left here as a courtesy, and should not be considered personal in nature.

Questions?[edit]

I've removed about a dozen instances of sections entitled "Questions" (and a few Notes as well,) from a load of series 1 articles. They're inappropriate for wikipedia, both in tone and content. Many of them looked as though they'd be more at home in a pub quiz than an encyclopedia. Chaheel Riens (talk) 16:27, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inbound links to Battlestar Wiki need removing[edit]

 Done

Battlestar Wiki was deleted several times after discussions, yet it still has over 40 inbound links from articles. I re-created the page as a softredirect to Special:Interwiki and added a direct link to the Battlestar Wiki in both interwiki and URL form.

Please see Talk:Battlestar Wiki and help clean up incoming redirects from articles. When the inbound article count reaches zero please copy the text and revision history of the talk page to someplace permanent, such as this talk page, and unless there is any reason to think it would be controversial, speedy-delete the page as a G6-technical/non-controversial deletion. If it might be controversial, AFD or PROD it and ask me for my endorsement.

By the way, I realize this is out-of-process but WP:BOLD and WP:IAR apply. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 14:54, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The count is now well under 40. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 15:43, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All incoming redirects from articles removed, page replaced with {{db-author}}. No need to preserve talk page. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:49, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Leaflet for Wikiproject Battlestar Galactica at Wikimania 2014[edit]

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live![edit]

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject[edit]

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background[edit]

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   10:54, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Quorum of Twelve[edit]

The redirect Quorum of Twelve, which currently targets the main Battlestar Galactica article, has been nominated for retargetting at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2018 June 11#Quorum of Twelve. Your comments at the linked discussion would be very useful. Thryduulf (talk) 23:04, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A new newsletter directory is out![edit]

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Nomination of Portal:Battlestar Galactica for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether Portal:Battlestar Galactica is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The page will be discussed at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Battlestar Galactica until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the page during the discussion, including to improve the page to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the deletion notice from the top of the page. North America1000 06:46, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
