St. John's University (New York City)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on St. John's University (New York City). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. — mholland (talk) 14:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Non-notable "infamous" person. Jmlk17 20:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is ridiculous. Non notable?

File:Mugshot.JPG

Olutosin Oduwole a member of Iota Phi Theta and President of it's chapter at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville was arrested and charged with planning a Virginia Tech Massacre at the University. [1]. His bail was set at 1.1 million dollars. http://www.siue.edu/_global/report.htm  ????

Copying content from the 2007 alleged plot to attack Southern Illinois University page to the Olutosin Oduwole page isn't a good idea. If the article survives the AfD, then this information will be there. If not, then this page is also going to be deleted. I'd urge you to redirect it back to the article. And please do give your reasons not to delete it at the AfD page. Flyguy649 talk contribs 03:11, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:CIMG1351small.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CIMG1351small.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Your Edits to the James Brown article

I noted that you added information about a reported feud between James Brown and Joe Tex. However, the information that you've added to the article is misplaced in the section regarding the cape routine. The information in the cape routine section is intended to provide information about the concert performance, not interactions with people outside of the James Brown Revue.

Please consider moving this information to a different section of the article - perhaps in the section of the article (the article is divided into happenings during the decades) that indicates the era during which this event took place. I was going to remove the Joe Tex reference altogether, but thought that I first give you the opportunity to make this correction. Lwalt ♦ talk 11:04, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Domincan Republic article

I'm contacting you because I noticed that you have knowledge of the Dominican Republic article, and of User:BigGabriel555. Can you please help me?

I have been trying to add a photograph to the article, of the very interesting and historically important ceiling of Catedral Santa María La Menor. BigGabriel555 does not like it because, he says, "people are sending me messages saying that it does not look good on the page", and has repeatedly deleted it. I've tried to find out how he would like it changed - different size, location, etc. - but he has not replied. I don't wish to become involved in an edit war, but feel it is a good photo which adds to the article. Can you suggest any way to handle this? I've never been in this situation before. Large Debate Continues Here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Dominican_Republic/RacialSelfIdentification_debate UnclePaco (talk) 03:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't agree with that combined talkpage you've created. You've mixed the comments up in no apparent order such that comments as far back as June are pasted directly after comments from today. It makes the debate extremely difficult to follow, possibly worse than it was before. If you're going to make a page like that, at least make sure the comments are sorted by date.--RosicrucianTalk 03:55, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More References

unclepaco can you please put more references for the Caste system section on the Dominican Republic please because they might remove it please and thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by BigGabriel555 (talkcontribs) 22:13, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use of extremist sources

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Dominican Republic. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. I think you have violated WP:RS#Extremist_sources, because of your use of Barnes Review as a source. Thank you. Rafelito (talk) 04:08, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dominican Republic

There is no need to debate or discuss extremist sources, weasel words, unsourced statements, POV, SYN, etc. Wikipedia rules are very clear. All my edits have their respective edit summaries, if you have any doubt about the reason for the edit read the edit summary. Also, when you undo edits give a valid reason.Rafelito (talk) 19:34, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

High school student report as reference

Hello, again, UnclePaco. Please excuse my bothering you over this minor issue, but I do not feel sufficiently confident about my knowledge of the history of the Dominican Republic or about references relating to the country to handle this myself. Were you aware that four of the citations in the current article specify a high school student report as their source? This is, currently, reference 24, "Forrest, Dave. The Dominican Dictator: Rafael Trujillo. James Logan High School. Retrieved on 29 May 2007." Since Mr. Forrest, himself, gives no references, his data quality is not easily checked. It seems, to me at least, important to find more appropriate support for the statements involved (one of the 4 already has that), or to consider deleting them. Thanks for listening. Tim Ross·talk 22:13, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok

Undersourced

Why do you think the edit is undersourced when almost every sentence has a citation. [2]. It is as pov as antihaitianismo don't you think? UnclePaco (talk) 06:05, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A citation on every sentence does not make it well-sourced when every citation you placed is from the same article. That only really counts as one citation for the whole paragraph, repeated multiple times.--RosicrucianTalk 06:07, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Haiti and Arawak Genocide

What was the reason for removal of those sections? UnclePaco (talk) 06:18, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As stated here, your last edits made the page a mess because it managed to partially remove some of the original ref tags, and thus make the references section start spitting out naked markup code rather than actually displaying the footnotes list. I reverted to the last stable version that I could actually read the reference table on. In this case that happened to be Rafaelito's. I actually don't have a stance on your argument with Rafaelito regarding the history section, so please don't take that the wrong way. My disagreements are mainly with later sections unrelated to those, so this was a revert I made purely for the stability of the article.--RosicrucianTalk 06:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary

The content you added is already in the Dominican Republic article. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:30, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not stopping you from building the article, just wait until it's substantial enough before you put it up. The current content you're submitting is not. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow

Wow when did this sockpuppet case against me started?another one?I stopped editing dominican articles for this same reason but i guess it continues...EdwinCasadoBaez (talk) 20:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I was reviewing your report at WP:AN3 and took a look at the photo you guys were arguing over. Regarding your photos on Dominican Day Parade, there is a licensing problem with them. When you say "This image is allowed to be used on Wikipedia by UnclePaco", that implies a license which is not "free enough". It would be much better if you say, "I, UnclePaco, am the photographer of this image and permit it to be used under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license". That way, there is a clear statement of authorship and of an explicit license that nobody would dispute. Thank you. --B (talk) 00:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

will do. i am the author of the photo. i'll have it done tonite. UnclePaco (talk) 00:29, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With regard to your 3RR report itself, both of you are actually in violation of 3RR. Adding the photos back into the article was itself a partial revert so both of you reverted four times. I don't see any need to block you since you are both now discussing the issue on the talk page. If you will agree, I won't block either one of you and close the request as a "warning". --B (talk) 00:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A suggestion

Your deletion of mentions of New York University, Pace University, The New School, St. John's University from the "Education" section of New York City (see diff) is not a harmless attempt at comedy, as I had thought before I saw the consistent problems aired at your talkpage. Nor can it be interpreted as well-intentioned but misguided editing in good faith. It is vandalism. Is it too soon to report you? Perhaps you can reform your attitude towards building an encyclopedia. Why not avoid articles in which you have a contentious investment for a time and concentrate on adding neutral content. An abusive response to this suggestion will earn you a report. --Wetman (talk) 15:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As you will notice on your differential, NYU was not removed. Pace & St. John's are at the level of Fordham and LIU which aren't included. They are good schools not great schools. Thus their removal. Please also lets have normal convo not conversation that is borderline threats. UnclePaco (talk) 19:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply to be posted later for arbitration.

Alright let me see based on here. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration&diff=prev&oldid=182154705

  • Amare Stoudamire isn't hispanic at all. He's black. I posted an article that spoke about him and summarized it. [3]. What you wrote is a strech of the imagination and simply trying to find things to bury me on.
  • The felipe lopez article. [4] This was his last college game. How is it critical of him? http://youtube.com/watch?v=vdmf9l6b8Bc Again, trying to find something to bury me on. Why don't you look at the video!
  • the alleged homophobia comment. In the context of the article we discussed how allegations with no substance can still make it into articles, such as [Rock Hudsons] personal life. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Hudson#Personal_life[5]. We discussed the Patriot Act, Habeous Corpus, Guilty until proven innocent (i.e. Rock Hudsons personal life). [6] To which he stated Gay not being a crime, and that depends on what nation you're at. AT no point did I make homophobic remarks. If someone chooses to live a certain lifestyle that is on them. I'm indifferent.
  • Dominican Day Parade crime section. I created a section similiar to two other articles in New York about parades that had similiar sections. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_Day_Carnival#Violence and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rican_Day_Parade#Controversy . I placed in verified information NY Times, NY Sun, NY Daily News, NY Post to illustrate this. Why is it ok for the Labor Day Carnival to have a violence section and the Puerto Rican Day Parade to have a controversy section, but the Dominican Day Parade not to have one? I have brought this up on talk pages. [7]
  • The black supremacy section, well I did reinsert the trivia section [8]. I simply didn't read the whole thing. It was originally inserted in Dec 2005 way before I became a member. I saw it was deleted and saw the first couple of sentences and it looked good to me. [9]
  • Dominican racial identity is simply up for debate. [10] There are numerous articles that state that DR is simply african and spaniard.
  • Xlr8tion was blocked for posting sources from white power websites before anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Puerto_Rican_Day_Parade&diff=182022544&oldid=182019533
