Engine Soul

The Go-ongers' technology revolves around the Engine Souls (炎神ソウル, Enjin Sōru), sentient chip-like items that are hearts of the Engines, whose power they allow the Go-ongers to employ. When not in use, they are kept in the Engine Soul Holster (炎神ソウルホルスター, Enjin Sōru Horusutā).[3]

Go-on Gear

  • Henshin Cellphone Go-Phone (変身携帯ゴーフォン, Henshin Keitai Gōfon): The primary Go-ongers's transformation devices, installing a chip-like items called Change Souls (チェンジソウル, Chenji Sōru) to evoke the transformation. By installing an Engine Soul in the Go-Phone, the Go-ongers can communicate with their Engine partners.[4]
  • Henshin Brace ShiftChanger (変身ブレスシフトチェンジャー, Henshin Buresu Shifutochenjā): Go-on Green and Go-on Black's transformation devices, use dependant on the Change Souls.[5]
  • Self Change-Gun MantanGun (セルフ変形銃マンタンガン, Serufu Henkeijū Mantangan, (refactored from [[[γ]|Mantan]])): A team sidearm that resembles a gas pump dispenser and has both a Gun Mode (ガンモード, Gan Mōdo) and a Rod Mode (ロッドモード, Roddo Mōdo).[6]
  • Highway Buster (ハイウェイバスター, Haiwei Basutā): The combination of the primary Go-ongers' Go-on Gear: the Road Sabre, the Garage Launcher, and the Racing Bullet. When an Engine Soul is set in the weapon, the Racing Bullet is fired, unleashing the destructive power of the Soul's respective Engine on the target.[7]
  • Junction Rifle (ジャンクションライフル, Jankushon Raifuru): The combination of the secondary Go-ongers' Go-on Gear: the Bridge Axe and the Cowl Laser.[8]

Engines

The Go-ongers' mecha are the Engines (炎神, Enjin), denizens of Machine World, choosing the Go-ongers as their partners to fight Gaiarc. While in the Human World, the Engine cannot exist in their full size and thus remove their Engine Souls to assume small forms called Engine Casts which are kept in the Engine Attache until they are needed, resuming their true size on Earth for only 10 minutes.

The Go-onger's primary robot is Engine Gattai EngineOh (炎神合体エンジンオー, Enjin Gattai Enjin'ō).[9] It is comprised of:

  • Engine Speedor (炎神スピードル, Enjin Supīdoru, a hybrid between a condor and a sports car): Go-on Red's partner, his speed is unmatched. He forms the head, chest, and arms.[10]
  • Engine Bus-on (炎神バスオン, Enjin Basuon, a hybrid between a lion with a bus): Go-on Blue's partner with brute strength, he forms the hip, legs, and Go-on Sword.
  • Engine Bearrv (炎神ベアールV, Enjin Beārubui, a hybrid between a bear and an RV): Go-on Yellow's partner, she is a gutsy Engine who forms the abdomen and V-Shield.[11]

The secondary Go-ongers' Engines act as combinatory weapons for EngineOh.

  • Engine Birca (炎神バルカ, Enjin Baruka, a hybrid between an orca and a motorcycle): Go-on Green's partner, best at quick movements, he forms the left arm of EngineOh Birca (エンジンオーバルカ, Enjin'ō Baruka). [12].
  • Engine Gunpherd (炎神ガンパード, Enjin Ganpādo, a hybrid between a German Shepherd and a police car): Go-on Black's partner, he pursues enemies in a hot chase and can combine with EngineOh to form the right arm of EngineOh Gunpherd (エンジンオーガンパード, Enjin'ō Ganpādo).[13].

Allies

  • Bonper (ボンパー, Bonpā) is a pink robot created by the Engines to support the Go-ongers, creating the Go-onger arsenal and performing maintenance on the Engines.[14]

Gaiarc

The Go-ongers fight the Barbaric Machine Clan Gaiarc (蛮機族ガイアーク, Bankizoku Gaiāku), machine-men from the Machine World who desire to pollute the Earth. The Gaiarc based themselves in a fortress on an isolated island.[15]

Land Pollution Minister Yogostein (害地大臣ヨゴシュタイン, Gaichi Daijin Yogoshutain)
Golden armored general who leads the Gaiarc's land-based Barbaric Machine Beasts, he uses a spear as his weapon [16]
Water Pollution Minister Kegalesia (害水大臣ケガレシア, Gaisui Daijin Kegareshia)
Human-looking general with a whip, she leads Gaiarc's sea-based Barbaric Machine Beasts.[17]
Air Pollution Minister Kitaneidas (害気大臣キタネイダス, Gaiki Daijin Kitaneidasu)
Leads Gaiarc's sky-based Barbaric Machine Beasts and uses a staff as his weapon. [16]

Gaiarc uses Barbaric Machine Soldiers Ugatz (蛮機兵ウガッツ, Ugattsu) as footsoldiers to support the Barbaric Machine Beasts (蛮機獣, Bankijū); monsters created to pollute the Earth, separated into three types: Savage Ground (蛮地, Banchi), Savage Sea (蛮水, Bansui), and Savage Sky (蛮気, Banki).

Notes

Template:Ent "Engine" (炎神, Enjin) literally translates as "Flame God." The logo for the series uses the English word "Engine" in the title instead of the romanization of the kanji as "Enjin." Template:Ent "Go-onger" (ゴーオンジャー, Gōonjā) is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for "thunderous sound" (轟音, gōon) and "Ranger" (レンジャー, Renjā). It is also related to the English words "go on." Template:Ent "MantanGun" (マンタンガン, Mantangan) comes from the Japanese phrase for "fill 'er up" (満タン, mantan).
