Karishma Tanna (/kərɪʃmɑː təˈnɑ) is an Indian actress and a model and contestant of Big Boss 8. She is 5'9" (1.75m) in height. She has acted in a Kannada movie[2][3]
Early Life
Karishma Tanna was born and brought up in Mumbai. She belongs to a Gujarati Family. She finished her studies from Sydehnam COllege, Mumbai. She always wanted to be an actress. She initially did serials and Ad commercials before entering into movies.[4]

Television career
Tanna came into limelight with Balaji Telefilms' soap opera on Star Plus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi[5] (July 2000 - November 2008), and is claimed for her fun character, Indu.[6] According to a report published by the BBC, "In millions of homes across the country, families reorganised their daily routines to ensure they didn't miss out on the show."[7]
She appeared in Balaji Telefilms' drama production, Kahi To Milenge (November 2002 - 2003) on Sahara One.[8]
Tanna worked as the lead female actress for the TV series Koi Dil Mein Hai (December 2003 - February 2005) on Sony as Krutika. Produced by Balaji Telefilms.[9] Tanna signed up with project while still working for Kyunki Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, as her role in Kyunki was not that of a major character. Moreover, Kkoi Dil Mein Hai was a weekly show.[9]
Tanna worked for the TV program Ek Ladki Anjaani Si on Sony (November 2005 - September 2007) playing the negative character Ayesha.[10]
Tanna was also part of Rajshri Productions show Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam (April 2006 - September 2006) on Star Plus[11] and starred Barkha Bisht and Indraneil Sengupta in the lead roles.[12]
BR Films signed her up for their drama TV series, Viraasat (June 2006 - July 2007), that was originally started airing on Star Plus, but was later moved to Star One.[11] She played the role of Natasha, a secretary of a lead character played by Rohit Roy.[13]
Tanna participated in stage-based comedy TV series Comedy Circus season 1 that started in June 2007 on Sony TV.[14] She later came back in Comedy Circus Mahasangram in February 2010.[15]
Tanna hosted a magic-based reality TV show, India's Magic Star, that went on air in July 2010 on Star One, where the judging panel included Jackie Shroff and Franz Harary.[16][17] She has also acted in TV production for children, Baal Veer (October 2012 – present), on SAB TV playing the role of Rani Pari. However, she quit the show in February 2013.[18]
Tanna was the 1st runner up on a celebrity reality TV show, Bigg Boss 8, on Colors, which started airing in September 2014. The show is based on a format originally created by the Dutch-based Endemol's Big Brother,[19][20]

In September 2006, Tanna made her theater debut with the Hinglish farce/romantic comedy Perfect Wedding, directed by Vandana Sajnani. The work was adapted from Robin Howdon's British play of the same name.[11][21]
Film career
Tanna made her Bollywood debut with the December 2005 film Dosti: Friends Forever, playing the role of Nandini Thapar, sister of Bobby Deol. The star cast of the film also included Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Juhi Chawla and Shakti Kapoor.
Tanna's second film was a Kannada language movie, I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona, which was released in June 2011. Tanna played the lead actress role of Chethana, who marries Prem Kumar. The film is based on the theme of suspicion, sanctity and compulsions in the relationship of a happily married couple.[22]
In September 2013, she tasted her first commercial Bollywood success with her third film, Grand Masti, a Bollywood sex comedy, and a sequel to April 2004 film, Masti, She played the role of Unatti, Vivek Oberoi's wife. The film crossed the box office collections of Rs 100 crore in just 23 days of its release, making it the first Hindi adult comedy film to cross this mark in record days.[23]
Tanna's fourth film, Tina and Lolo, is under pipeline. The film stars Tanna in the lead role, along with the former pornographic actress, Sunny Leone, and also features Deepak Tijori and Taaha Shah. Tanna's character was earlier offered to Minissha Lamba, but Lamba opted out as the script required her kissing Sunny Leone.[24]
