Move request
Hello! Would you be able to move Wembley Arena to The SSE Arena, Wembley, as per Talk:Wembley Arena please? Most of us who discussed the move (including myself) supported this, and it has long been overdue (requested back in March 2017). I was looking for an administrator to make the move as the target name is currently a redirect - would you be able to do it? --MetrolandNW (talk) 01:32, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Revision as of 01:32, 12 April 2018

Welcome to my talk page. Here are some tips to help you communicate with me:

  • Please continue any conversation on the page where it was started.
    • Thus, if I have left a message on your talk page please DO NOT post a reply here. I will have your talk page on watch and will note when you have replied.
  • Add or respond to an existing conversation under the existing heading.
    • Indent your comment when replying by using an appropriate number of colons ':'.
    • Create a new heading if the original conversation is archived.
  • To initiate a new conversation on this page click on this link.
  • If you are expressing a concern about edits made by RussBot, it is extremely helpful if you include a link to a specific page or, even better, a link to a diff showing the actual edit that the bot made. This makes it much easier to diagnose and correct problems.
  • You should sign your comments. You can do this automatically by typing four tildes (~~~~).

A bowl of strawberries for you!

I apologize for my silly error, and hope this bowl of strawberries will help to make amends. Thank you for your work reverting vandals, and sorry for confusing you with the original vandal. ~Adjwilley (talk) 04:12, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

russbot & categories outside mainspace

look at this edit and explain it to me please, preferably with this other edit to the same page in mind because I don't see how the bot could make both unless the 2nd one was made under supervision maybe? I'm confused 78.28.45.127 (talk) 11:14, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for alerting me to this. The March 1 edit appears correct, but I cannot explain the Feb. 28 one. I have checked the bot's logs and it does not show anything unusual about this edit. I will try to investigate further when I have more time. By the way, I hope you noticed this edit as well; draft articles are not supposed to be placed in categories in the first place. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 19:45, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't just notice that edit. I made that edit! Actually, wouldn't it be neat if the bot could recognize it's about to fix a category that's not meant for the space it's in in the first place and disable it while it applies the fix? 78.28.45.127 (talk) 06:01, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alveoli

Alveoli is plural of alveolus. It does not only refer specifically to Pulmonary alveolus, which is only one of several subjects containing the word alveolus. Therefore alveoli and alveolus should redirect to the disambig page Alveolus (disambiguation). FunkMonk (talk) 11:25, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The singular, Alveolus, is a redirect to Pulmonary alveolus; it has been that way for over 12 years, and you did not change it. The plural, Alveoli, should redirect to the same target as the singular. Otherwise, the reader experience would be wildly inconsistent. Since both of these are long-standing WP:PRIMARYTOPIC redirects, changing them would be disruptive, because it would break many existing links from other articles. If you think it is important to do this (and want to fix the mess it would create), you should start a WP:RFD discussion. Please do not reinstate your own edit after it has been reverted; our practice is bold, revert, discuss, not bold, revert, revert. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:18, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – April 2018

News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2018).

Administrator changes

added 331dotCordless LarryClueBot NG
removed Gogo DodoPb30SebastiankesselSeicerSoLando

Guideline and policy news

  • Administrators who have been desysopped due to inactivity are now required to have performed at least one (logged) administrative action in the past 5 years in order to qualify for a resysop without going through a new RfA.
  • Editors who have been found to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block, for whatever reason, are now automatically considered banned by the community without the need to start a ban discussion.
  • The notability guideline for organizations and companies has been substantially rewritten following the closure of this request for comment. Among the changes, the guideline more clearly defines the sourcing requirements needed for organizations and companies to be considered notable.
  • The six-month autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) ended on 14 March 2018. The post-trial research report has been published. A request for comment is now underway to determine whether the restrictions from ACTRIAL should be implemented permanently.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The Arbitration Committee is considering a change to the discretionary sanctions procedures which would require an editor to appeal a sanction to the community at WP:AE or WP:AN prior to appealing directly to the Arbitration Committee at WP:ARCA.

Miscellaneous

  • A discussion has closed which concluded that administrators are not required to enable email, though many editors suggested doing so as a matter of best practice.
  • The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team has released the Interaction Timeline. This shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits, which may be helpful in identifying sockpuppetry and investigating editing disputes.
