You've got mail

Hello, R'n'B. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template. - TNT 😺 18:29, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
@TheresNoTime: So, one bad edit constitutes "going haywire"? Umm, OK, well it is a legit bug so I will get to fixing it shortly. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:50, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
@R'n'B that was near to fifty but most of them are now deleted and the bot is blocked to not generate further erroneous pages. Ahmetlii (talk) 18:52, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Yikes. I didn't look at deleted user contributions; sorry, you were certainly right to block it. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:56, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
"Near to fifty" is a little on the light side, was almost 250 pages I deleted. I left one, as I put in my massdelete reason, so you could diagnose the problem. - TNT 😺 18:58, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
That was a smidge salty of me, I apologise - let me know when you've fixed it and I'll be happy to unblock - TNT 😺 19:27, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

RussBot

Special:Contributions/RussBot - oh dear? I've blocked to stop it going haywire - TNT 😺 18:23, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Probably worth adding in a check for (disambiguation) (disambiguation) in the page title and skip creation if found, as there's never a valid reason for such a formulation as far as I know. firefly ( t · c ) 18:28, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Elias Comfort McConnell

Hey there this is Elias. The previous content with my filmography would be nice to have again as well as what I added…. my name change and the birth of my son. I now live in portland Oregon after living in New York for 10 years. Working at Bergdorf Goodman as a personal stylist. Now I’m in real Estate with Berkshire Hathaway. I changed my name dropping McConnell and announced it publicly in the magazine Fanzine137 to separate myself as an artist from the actor. I grew up in a family of 9 kids to the same parents. Raised Presbyterian. Amd I can list magazines I’ve been in and a poetry book I wrote and published by hand. Anyway you’ve edited my place before and I don’t know how to properly (with code) make it look and sound “wiki”. I briefly photographed for Patrick Mcmullan and was also featured in the New York Times of Bill Cunningham 14 times (that I know of) Paperthinner23 (talk) 01:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – July 2021

News and updates for administrators from the past month (June 2021).

Guideline and policy news

  • Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
  • An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.

Technical news

  • IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.

Hi RussBot, For reasons unclear, someone has redirected Phaestus (Achaea) a little-known but probably real Classical town in Achaea, Greece (one ancient source), wikidata id d:Q7180149, to the completely unrelated Bronze Age archaeological site of Phaistos in Crete. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaestus_(Achaea) Could you, as the expert with the most recent edit/redirect, fix it? Many thanks. JBradyK (talk) 06:35, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Rise from the Ashes

The article "Rise from the Ashes" has no sources and has no notability, per WP:NMUSIC. As the guideline say, "it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article". Coltsfan (talk) 16:09, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

@Coltsfan: I don't disagree with any of that. But it's not correct to redirect a title to itself. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:05, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Ah my bad. I was going to redirect it to the album. My mistake. Coltsfan (talk) 20:14, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC is open to add a delay of one week from nomination to deletion for G13 speedy deletions.

Technical news

  • Last week all wikis were very slow or not accessible for 30 minutes. This was due to server lag caused by regenerating dynamic lists on the Russian Wikinews after a large bulk import. (T287380)
