You can request missing or custom shields below. Your request will then be handled by a participant of the shields department. Instructions and guidelines are provided below. Requests will typically be handled by a member of the shields department; however, they can be completed by anyone willing to take on the request.

Guidelines
  • Please be respectful. The editors who create shields are volunteers; give them enough time to create the requested shields while working at their own pace and leisure.
  • If there is a large, repetitive group of graphics needed, please try to request them all at once. When a large request is fulfilled, do not immediately make another large request.
  • Consider using pre-made templates to make the desired shields yourself. Instructions for using the templates are given on the tutorial page.
  • It is currently the working policy of the project that county routes are generally not notable enough to receive their own articles, nor major enough to appear in most junction lists. If you are here to request county route shields, please ensure your request is truly necessary.
Requesting shields
  • Click on the "new section" tab atop the page next to the "edit" link.
  • Fill in the fields as follows:
    • Subject/headline: A description of your request; this is typically the name of the road(s) that you are requesting a shield for.
    • Edit box:
      • List the shields that you are requesting and include a wikilink to the main article for each shield. A link Interstate 10 would be provided when requesting File:I-10.svg.
      • If it is not clear what the file is supposed to look like, please attach a picture of what the file should look like. Example
      • Don't forget to sign at the end!
  • Click "Save page".
  • You may also use the "needs-shield" parameter in the project banner on the talk page of the article that needs the shield. Just add |needs-shield=yes and the article will be added to Category:U.S. Roads project articles needing shields.
Completing a request
  • To accept a request, type '''Accepted''' or {{Doing}} in your response to the request.
  • To decline a request, mark the request with {{Not done}} and explain why the files were not made.
  • Unless they are non-free files, upload all files to Commons.
  • Mark completed requests with {{Done}}.
  • If a request is resolved and {{Done}} or {{Not done}} are not applicable, mark it with {{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}}
  • Marked requests will be archived automatically.

new Texas (NTTA) toll shields

The new style for North Texas Tollway Authority roads can be seen here: File:Dallas North Tollway - Harry Hines Blvd - 4474 - jpfagerback 2013-05-06 - crop.jpg

--NE2 17:01, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I made them along with a template. It's not perfect but unless anyone else wants to have a go, it'll do. --NE2 21:07, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I found images (may be the older image) for the Mountain Creek Lake Bridge and the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel dated June 2014 - look here -- (M o r p h | C | T) 02:43, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

-- (M o r p h | C | T) 03:22, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, so the MCLB does have a shield like the other NTTA roads. --NE2 03:30, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@NE2: So, this is a thing now? It appears the signs were changed somewhat recently. StreetView dated April 2014 shows the png version of the AATT signs, but August and October 2014 show this style. –Fredddie 17:13, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DNT also. –Fredddie 17:22, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Signs on the PGBT appear the be the older png style as of last November. The others, for now, appear to be the older style. –Fredddie 17:30, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that style is generally used on ground-level signs, while newer guide signs have the standard Texas toll shield with letters only. --NE2 17:47, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm starting to make these and upload. –Fredddie 17:51, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have templates created so once we know what the Mountain Creek Lake and Lewisville Lake Toll Bridges signs look like, I can create them quickly. –Fredddie 19:23, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I meant in the style I just uploaded. The style you listed apparently is not free, so whenever we know what they look like in the new style, we can move away from the not-free style. –Fredddie 21:07, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find any examples of the MCLB or LLTB signs in the non-logo style, but since NTTA has clearly standardized on a new design, wouldn't it make sense to just create them anyway so we can stop using the non-free images? NTTA hasn't replaced 100% of the older style ground-level signs on other roads, but it doesn't confuse anyone that they coexist; I doubt most drivers even notice the difference. Florida Scenic Highways

Is the Florida Scenic Highways shield copyright protected? Because I tried to add this image to the new infobox at that list. I was hoping there could be something ready-made like most state, county, Turnpike, toll, US and Interstate shields. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 14:55, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This one is a little easier than the Ohio Scenic River Byway, because it's clear FDOT made the marker. However, the copyright is questionable since FDOT-made stuff is not automatically in the public domain. Also, I'm having trouble finding this in vector format. I found it in raster format, but it's quite small. –Fredddie 21:42, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

NYC Bridge and Tunnel shields

I know you already have a shield for the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, but are the shields for the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, Triborough Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, etcetera, etcetera, in any way forbidden from being posted due to copyright protection, or something? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 19:34, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, all of those are far too simple for copyright protection. I mean, the Triborough Bridge shield is text in a triangle. Just make a list of each one you need. –Fredddie 22:42, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, now I actually have to get serious about a list, and finding places for them. Let's see;
Yes, I know they'd be for the articles, but I was looking for specific locations within those articles. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 14:25, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Foley Beach Express and Baldwin Beach Express

I am requesting shields for the newly-made articles for the Foley Beach Express and the Baldwin Beach Express. Here are pictures on Google Street View:

One is simple enough; haven't touched the other. –Fredddie 16:59, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Indiana Toll Road intermediate version

As pictured here (note: adjacent "ALTERNATE" plaque is incidental, not requested): This is not the most recent version but is still widespread; requesting for use in conjunction with the 1968 version already on the Indiana Toll Road article. Could not find graphic of this version in Commons. Mapsax (talk) 16:49, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New TX toll roads

StephenTX (talk) 23:48, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I made some style changes to your request, mainly to create internal links from the pages (side note: please review WP:WIKILINK). I have no issue with making any of these shields per se, but is there any proof that these roads are signed? –Fredddie 01:07, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Photos added, and sorry about the links. StephenTX (talk) 02:35, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
