County roads in Monroe County, Florida

I believe these are all legitimate highways, but I can't imagine any of them were signed. I don't know of any source for them, they are all unsigned institutional roads. Not sure if that impacts the need for shields. Brandonrush Woo pig sooie! 16:37, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

This one is going to take some time. The easy thing to do is to just make them all in the current style, but this is a good opportunity to create some period shield templates. Yes they're valid, but they're not in the right spot (I think). Nebraska had a secondary road system where offshoots of a main highway had a number tacked onto the main route's number. Thus we have 1183 and 2183 which were spurs from US 183... –Fredddie™ 22:54, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

New U.S. Bicycle Routes

A new batch of shields (using the IA-15 template, presumably) for the U.S. Bicycle Route System need to be made:

According to List of state roads in New Mexico, there is no 393, so we shouldn't make a shield for that one. 459 shouldn't be the next route listed from 458 since it's decommissioned, but it could still use a shield in the main list. TheCatalyst31 Reaction•Creation 00:57, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Citrus County Road 482; Florida

A few nights ago, I learned that West Cardinal Street between US 19-98 north of Sugarmill Woods, Florida (possibly Homosassa, Florida) and Lecanto Highway (Citrus CR 491) south of Lecanto, Florida (actually closer to the ghost town of Mannfield, Florida) was designated as File:Citrus County 482.svg. I have pictures of this near the east end of this road, but I haven't uploaded them yet. The highway in question was a proposal in the mid-to-late 1920s, so that is why I am using the time-specific shields. Also, I know that the NC 106 and NC 108 links don't currently exist. They are former highways that are not the same highways as the current ones with the same numbers. The same goes for North Carolina Highway 29 (former) and North Carolina Highway 285 on my page. Shield for Tennessee State Route 398

Alexlatham96 added Tennessee State Route 398 to the List of state routes in Tennessee, even though it was never built (diff). I would appreciate it if a road expert would either decide to delete this un-built road from the list or create a shield for it at File:Tennessee 398.svg. Georgia Shields

Hi,

  • I've added noshield to missing shields as no interest so far in creating - This can be reverted if even done (many have no info, article or ref so may not even exist)
I had been editing and making articles on former state highways in Georgia, but I took a long break. When I was editing, I would notice highways on GDOT's maps that were not on the list pages, so I added entries for them, with the intention of eventually working on them. Several California county routes in zone D listed on Del Norte County, California are missing shields. These include:

new Texas (NTTA) toll shields

I meant in the style I just uploaded. The style you listed apparently is not free, so whenever we know what they look like in the new style, we can move away from the not-free style. –Fredddie™ 21:07, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
I can't find any examples of the MCLB or LLTB signs in the non-logo style, but since NTTA has clearly standardized on a new design, wouldn't it make sense to just create them anyway so we can stop using the non-free images? NTTA hasn't replaced 100% of the older style ground-level signs on other roads, but it doesn't confuse anyone that they coexist; I doubt most drivers even notice the difference. As pictured here (note: adjacent "ALTERNATE" plaque is incidental, not requested): This is not the most recent version but is still widespread; requesting for use in conjunction with the 1968 version already on the Indiana Toll Road article. I just made only two edits involving it, but both were bold: One is prominent (Indiana Toll Road#History ; diff) and the other affects a lot of articles (Module:Road data/strings/USA/IN ; diff), so I hope that I didn't overstep my boundaries. Florida Scenic Highways

Is the Florida Scenic Highways shield copyright protected? Because I tried to add this image to the new infobox at that list. I was hoping there could be something ready-made like most state, county, Turnpike, toll, US and Interstate shields. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 14:55, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

This one is a little easier than the Ohio Scenic River Byway, because it's clear FDOT made the marker. However, the copyright is questionable since FDOT-made stuff is not automatically in the public domain. Also, I'm having trouble finding this in vector format. New Jersey Scenic Byways

I am requesting shields for the roads in the New Jersey Scenic Byways system. The byways use a different logo for each byway, with the guidelines for the byway signs here. The logos that are used for each byway are listed here. The guidelines for the byway signs are set by the MUTCD, so that may mean the signs are PD-MUTCD and therefore can be uploaded to Commons and can be used in both the byway article and the infoboxes for articles along routes that follow the byways. However, if the copyright status is in question we can always upload them as fair use and only have them in the byway article. Before making and uploading the shields, we should make the determination on the copyright status so we know which direction to go. Dough4872 16:00, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Reading through the sign guidelines, it says "All Byway Identification signs conform to criteria set forth in the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)." I know the MUTCD calls for signs to be PD, but I'm not sure if that would apply to the byway signs in the guidelines document. NJDOT doesn't have a state MUTCD and relies on the federal MUTCD. There is nothing in the sign guidelines indicating any copyright on the byway sign. There is a section on reproducing logos that says "Do not typeset or redraw any component of the signs. NJDOT will provide electronic files to roadways jurisdictions as necessary. NJDOT will also provide electronic files to byway sponsors for use on print materials and distribution to media at their discretion. Always use the supplied electronic file for reproduction." I looked them up. The same group is organizing routes in Alabama and South Carolina as well as Georgia. Though I think Georgia is the most organized at this point. Lake Norman Bicycle Route and Pottery Loop

An unorthodox request for two regional bike routes in North Carolina, the Lake Norman Bicycle Route and Pottery Loop. Both use the similar bicycle route template to the North Carolina Bicycle Routes (white and green), but each has their own seal at the top and use letters to designate the route. US 14A with small "A"

US 14A in South Dakota uses signs with a small A, proportionally identical to the U.S. Route 16A signs (example). The only other place where the current 14A picture is being used is in a draft article for U.S. Route 20 in Wyoming, but Wyoming appears to neither use the A suffix, nor the "ALT" banner at the top, with "ALT" being placed below 14 in a standard US route shield (example).--Molandfreak (talk, contribs, email) 04:29, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
