Edit request template

Hello GoingBatty. With regards to this change, I looked at advising the editor to use {{edit request}}, but it brings up the message "The user below has a request that an edit be made to this article for which that user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest.", but as there is no conflict of interest, I didn't think it was suitable. Is there another one, which doesn't involve incorrectly stating there is a COI to use? Cheers, Number 57 20:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Number 57: Neither template is perfect, and I'm not aware of a better one. Since there is no protection on the pages, I hope that using {{edit request}} template will give the requests more visibility, and people can see the notes about the arbitration case in the talk page sections. GoingBatty (talk) 20:09, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
TBH I was quite surprised that it was specifically for COI edits. I wonder whether it might be worth converting it to a general request template, and having a new one for COI-type edits. Number 57 20:11, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57: I would not object to that. GoingBatty (talk) 20:12, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57: Maybe {{help me}} would be better? GoingBatty (talk) 20:51, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree that's better. Number 57 20:52, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57:  Fixed - thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:54, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sogand Kamranii: I hope you can add some independent reliable sources (such as magazine articles and newspaper articles) and resubmit your Draft:Tina Akhondtabar. Tanaza - GoingBatty

Good morning GoingBatty, here is Paul Smith 1970. I'm writing to you regards your last comments on the page that I've written dedicated to Tanaza. I would contest your comment because in the creation of the page I've tried to be more as factual a basis as possible. What it's written on the page is simply what Tanaza is and what is its history, no promotional intent. I have used some reference articles and websites of high-level (such as Facebook Engineering Blog, Sole 24 ore, Yahoo Finance, and also two patents by Google Patents approved by US Government).

It's not a promotional intent to say that a company has won important awards or create partnerships in its sector. It's simply the story. About the chapter of philanthropy, there are multiple examples of companies on Wikipedia that talk about their "good deeds". Philanthropy is not a promotional intent for the business itself, but also an opportunity to use the name of the company as a medium to touch public opinion on a certain important topic for society.

This is my explanation to defend what I've written. Please, leave a comment to let me understand what is wrong in this style of writing because honestly, the commercial scope is not present in this article.

If you can, leave a concrete example of what is a commercial phrase for your judgment.

I'm glad to understand and learn these shades between my style of writing and your perception of reading because I've written following all the Wikipedia Rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul Smith 1970 (talkcontribs) 07:08, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Paul Smith 1970: In Draft:Tanaza, Celestina007 provided a comment stating "Too Promotional & would qualify for a G11". My comment was that you resubmitted it without making any attempt to address Celestina007's feedback. I direct you to Celestina007 to address this issue. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:31, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @GoingBatty, the creator of this article @Paul Smith 1970 definitely is exhibiting tale signs of undisclosed paid editing/ COI. They have had their drafts rejected at least twice now at the AFC & despite my lengthy explanation & dialogue with the article creator on my talk page & having explained to them that other stuff exists to create articles on, they have remained fixated on this article hinting at either UPE / COI. Either way they have proven to be a single purpose account. Celestina007 (talk) 15:04, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Slightly Confused?

Hi GoingBatty - thanks for reviewing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Outernet_London - I am very confused why this keeps on getting rejected.

This is a major major development in central London that I walk past when I go to work every day. It's huge and a massive landmark and should be on Wikipedia. It also includes Denmark Street which is world famous. I don't see how my post reads like an advertisement - there is no hyperbole, no inflated claims nor anything that isn't verifiable from the extensive list of citations I have put together and includes coverage in major mainstream UK media for example The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, the London Evening Standard, The Independent, Sky News, CityAM etc all reflecting the fact this is a major development with a footfall of millions and is of public interest.

Could I please ask you to re-review? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nycinuk (talkcontribs) 09:33, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Paul Smith 1970: Nycinuk: In Draft:Outernet London, RoySmith provided a comment about the "promotional language". My comment was that you resubmitted it without making any attempt to address RoySmith's feedback. "The scale of the Outernet project is vast" does not seem encyclopedic to me. I direct you to RoySmith to address the issue. If you have a conflict of interest, you also need to disclose it on your user page. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:39, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nycinuk, This doesn't seem outrageously bad, but it's still got a lot of fluffy language which makes the whole piece sound like you're trying to describe the project in the best possible light. One trick for making something sound less promotional is to delete all the adjectives. Well, not exactly, but it's a good place to start.
For example, in "major mixed use development ", I'd delete "major". Don't make judgement calls. Give the reader data. Tell them it has a 2000 seat music venue. Tell them how many square meters of shopping area there will be. How many stores. How many residential apartments, and their total area. With data like that, the reader can draw their own conclusion as to whether this is "major" or not.
Likewise, "many areas" -> "areas".
"it will herald a new era of retail for the world famous" is just plain fluff, trying to sell the user on how great this is. Delete all of that.
Also, see WP:REFBOMBING. It's rare that a sentence needs more than 1 or 2 references. The idea is to provide a way for the user to verify the facts presented. Adding 5, 6, or more references just makes it harder to read and harder to find the specific source that verifies the sentence.
I'd probably delete the last two paragraphs. Ten years from now will anybody care who the construction contractor was? And the "first of a series" stuff is both promotional hype and WP:CRYSTAL.
With all that being said, take a step back and look at each sentence. Ask youself, "Is this presenting a fact, or is this trying to convince the reader of something". If it's the latter, then it's promotional. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:00, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Both the things you mention - adding "major" and reference to "vast" have been added on the last draft because I am dumbfounded this article was not approved when even a quick glance at the references would show what a major project it is and those references are national press in the UK! I think it's pretty apparent that the first rejection was incorrect and it looks like the other reviews have just followed that without looking at the references. The reason there are so many references now is because each rejection said there needed to be more references!

The language is almost all from the references cited. I will go back in now and put in all in quotes. There is also detail of the controversy this project has generated too.

Re construction - yes if you are into that - like me and a whole industry (!) you'd be extremely interested in who has built what is essentially a new Piccadilly Circus in London! Millions of people walk past this site each month - it's right in the heart of Central London. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nycinuk (talkcontribs) 15:16, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Rajmuzik Studio

hey thanks for not accpeting my creation . here is my Qun.1 is google books and kindle books and imdb reviews and magazine pubished on google and kindle is good for ref. thank you 1234prifixer 1234prifixer (talk) 05:24, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@1234prifixer: Books can be used as sources. Please provide as much information as you can about each book (e.g. title, author, publisher, ISBN, URL, page number). Articles from reputable magazines and newspapers can also be used as references. IMDb should not be used as a reliable source, since much of the content is user generated - see Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 05:29, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi is ASIN book number is valid for Books reference . Kindle books is good for ref . my all books are only on Amazon with ASIN number . are they eligible for ref ? 1234prifixer (talk) 12:03, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@1234prifixer: According to Template:Cite book#Identifiers, ASIN should be used when other standard identifiers are not available (e.g. ISBN). Note that you do not need to create a new section what asking a new question about the same topic. GoingBatty (talk) 13:13, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Roccie: For Draft:Adrian Richard Lewis, I do not see any sources for the "Personal" section. You may be writing your draft based on things you personally know about Lewis, and now are searching for sources. Instead, you should be compiling independent sources, and then summarizing what they say. Happy editing! GoingBatty - please find edits in article for Dr. Adrian R. Lewis for your review. Thank you Roccie ;) 05:58, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Roccie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roccie (talkcontribs)

@Roccie: I did some work to clean up your draft. In order for your draft to be accepted, you have to demonstrate that Lewis meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". For academics, the criteria can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Criteria. Almost all of the references you provided are written by Lewis. Your goal is to find independent references written about Lewis and the importance of his work. For example, who considers Omaha Beach the best analysis available? (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) GoingBatty (talk) 14:10, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you GongBatty, ok, It needs more work. I appreciate all your help and guidance. You are the Best! Roccie ;) 16:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Roccie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roccie (talkcontribs)

Citations

How much citations does my article need? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ganeshboodoo (talkcontribs) 23:38, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ganeshboodoo: I see you posted this three minutes later at Wikipedia:Teahouse#Citations, and agree with the general answer you received there. I presume you are referring to Draft:DJ Floops, where there are no references in the "Personal life", "DJ", "Music Marketing", or "Discography" sections. I suggest you start over - read all your independent reliable sources, summarize what they say, and then use the sources as references. Happy editing! Delete request

Hi I wasn't trying to make this an article on Wikipedia. I was doing something else and saw a notice to create a user page. I was trying to just create a user page. Not an article. I would like to delete it. I am looking for the icon/word to delete the draft.

@Kdis98: It seems that most of the references are focusing on works written by Karmee. In order to show notability, we're looking for published articles by other people discussing the importance of Karmee's work. Dr.Neal Handel Article

Hello GoingBatty, I received your message about the article being declined for Dr. Handel. I included references to the book he actually wrote (2 of them) and links to iMDB, which references the shows he was in TLC and Discovery Channel. He's also getting ready to be on a new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where he'll be performing plastic surgery on Kim Richards. What other things would you recommend me add for validity?

I hope this message find you well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesseals (talkcontribs) 18:58, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamesseals: For Draft:Dr. Neal Handel, your goal should be to show that he meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". Please read the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Criteria. If he meets these criteria, please provide reliable sources by people who write about Handel's work (e.g. books or articles from journals/newspapers/magazines written by other people). You can include an IMDb link in an "External links" section at the bottom of the draft, but IMDb cannot be used as a reference. GoingBatty (talk) 19:14, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the polite review on My Tim Hunter (Actor) Submission

Hi,

As guided by you, I have contacted Tim Hunter for additional reliable independent sources that have written about him, he sent me this link https://www.ibdb.com/broadway-cast-staff/tim-hunter-46029 and this https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Photo-Coverage-In-Our-Time-Gypsy-Robe-Event-20070313 and also this https://www.broadwayworld.com/people/Tim-Hunter/#content

Kindly help me check the links and the contents on the site to see if they fit to qualify Tim Hunter article published, once this is ascertained I can proceed to add them and resubmit.

Here is the link the initial draft I submitted https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Tim_Hunter_(Actor) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikegureje (talkcontribs) 09:01, 26 May 2020 (UTC) You are free to further guide me in areas where I need to improve the article before resubmission.[reply]

Thanks

Mike Gureje. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikegureje (talkcontribs) 08:58, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikegureje: It seems that you have written your draft based on things you personally know about Hunter, and now are searching for sources. Instead, you should be compiling independent sources, and then summarizing what they say. Also, you should be including sources such as newspaper/magazine articles that are all about him, and not just passing mentions. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 14:57, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Goog morning, GoingBatty. Could you be so kind as to check my last changes to the Yevgheniy Yenin article that I made May,23. I tried to follow all your recommendations. Best, Dasha — Preceding unsigned comment added by DashaHor (talkcontribs) 14:32, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DashaHor:  Done! GoingBatty (talk) 20:55, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me and your comments. As to reference 7 in article, its impossible to find now the Decree wich awarded Mr. Yenin with his Order and when I didnt put refernce in previous editions you corecrted me that I should, so what I have to do in such a case. Also I find a lot of articles in Wikipedia that doesnt have references to each sentence. When I put reference to the educational instituotion in section Early life you also corrected me. So why some articles in Wikipedia doesnt have references to each sentence and you edite me every time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DashaHor (talkcontribs) 18:05, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DashaHor: There are many existing Wikipedia articles that need to be improved (or maybe even deleted) - see Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. It seems that you are writing the draft based on what you personally know about Yenin, and then you are trying to find sources to match what you know. Instead, you should be gathering the independent reliable sources, summarizing what they say, and then providing the inline citations so everyone else can see the same sources you used. Hope this helps! GoingBatty (talk) 21:03, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

Wikipedia Biography for an Architect

Dear, I have added the references... and I would like to mention that I am not paid for doing this, this is just an honor to show an architect's work to the world... As an Architecture student, I would like to do this. I would like to also ask how can I remove the Draft: from the title of the page... cause now it is Draft: Camilo...

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by CR1972 (talkcontribs) 00:35, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CR1972: As mentioned on Wikipedia:Teahouse#Wikipedia Biography for an Architect, you first need to disclose your conflict of interest on Special:MyPage. Instead of writing Draft:Camilo Rebelo based on what Rebelo told you, it would be better for you to gather your independent reliable sources, summarize what they say, and then cite the sources. I see you added references, but you should add inline citations before resubmitting your draft for review again. If your draft is approved, the "Draft:" will be removed from the title of the page. Hello! I declined Draft:Thakur Ji Pathak because it does not have any inline citations (see Draft:Chandra Prakash Pathak for examples of how inline citations work). At the top of the draft is a gray box explaining why the draft was declined. Please click on each link in this box and read the document in full. I also suggest that you update the infobox and lead paragraph of Draft:Thakur Ji Pathak to make it clear that he died on March 28, 1994. Happy editing! The draft will be approved based on whether you have the talent to show how Draft:Chandra Prakash Pathak meets Wikipedia's notability criteria with an encyclopedia tone. I noticed that you are asking about drafts for two people named "Pathak". Please also read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and declare any conflict on your user page when you are logged in to Wikipedia. Happy editing! I have readjust the reference to Wikipedia standard

Please may I know if there is something wrong with the whole biography? Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 00:03, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Abbas Kwarbai: Are you referring to Draft:Tyler L. Adams? If so, I just posted the problems in my second review. GoingBatty (talk) 00:59, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Further clarity needed Dopoe,Jr (talk) 05:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)May 29, 2020

Hey Going Batty, this Dopoe, Jr. I submitted an article about KzeeBigname and you turned it down. I need further explanation on your comment that the article I submitted is a test edit, and not an article worth of an encyclopedia.

I am not trying to contest your comment; however, I want you to know that I support the article with lots of facts-- reliably source (reference). If you check other articles about Liberian artists published by Wikipedia, I am, you will consider mine for approval.

Looks forwards to hearing from you asap. Once again, thanks for your earlier response! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dopoe,Jr (talkcontribs) 05:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Dopoe,Jr: I declined User:Dopoe,Jr/sandbox because there is no content there - just rows of <ref>...</ref> tags. I see you are also working on Draft:KzeeBigname, but you have not submitted it yet for review. Happy editing! Modified sources

I corrected the sources you said. Thank you for your helpRaminsafdarirad (talk) 12:35, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Raminsafdarirad: You did not remove the sources I commented on from Draft:Reza_Abbaszadeh, so I restored my comment. I also added another comment. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:40, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stray code somewhere...

Hello GB, this page is currently appearing at CAT:AFC under *G* as if it were a draft pending review. I have searched for some stray code but cannot see it. Eagleash (talk) 20:08, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
