== TfD standard procedure: notifying template creators ==

Andy, I made a sincere request for you to notify the template creator regarding [[Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2015 February 1#Template:Infobox sports event]] [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3ATemplates_for_discussion%2FLog%2F2015_February_1&diff=645370617&oldid=645330590]. You responded by saying that I could do so myself [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2015_February_1&diff=next&oldid=645370617]. Yes, I could notify the template creator, but that's not really the point. The obligation to notify template creators rests on the TfD nominator, not random discussion participants who happen to notice the failure to notify; the TfD instructions state the TfD nominator "generally should notify the creator of the template, and it is also considered polite to also notify the main contributors of the template that you are nominating the template."

The TfD process works best when all concerned parties are properly notified and given the opportunity to discuss the specific purposes and uses of the particular template(s) involved. Often, the creators (and major contributors) are the best sources of information about the templates, and bypassing them in TfD discussions is not in the best interests of the project -- and it surely is not in keeping with the basic concepts of procedural fairness inherent in our XfD processes. So, I ask again: will you please notify the template creator, User:Arsenikk, of the pending TfD? [[User:Dirtlawyer1|Dirtlawyer1]] ([[User talk:Dirtlawyer1|talk]]) 16:37, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Bottom of Page

Talk to me, Andy Mabbett

  • If you post a message on this page, I'll reply on this page to avoid fragmenting the discussion.
  • If I've left you a message on your talk page, I will be watching it, so please reply there rather than here (but do feel free to drop a copy of {{Talkback}} here).
  • If appropriate, I will move discussion from here to the relevant article's talk page, so that anyone interested can join in.
  • If you want to start a new discussion thread, please start it at the bottom of the page. Better still, use the "+" tab next to the "edit this page" tab, or the link at the foot of this section, either of which will do that automatically.
  • Please do not make links from within section headings.
  • Inaccessible HTML (coloured text, "small" tags", etc.) will be removed from this page on sight.
  • Please sign and date your entries by inserting four tildes (~~~~) at the end.
  • Start a new discussion.

Enjoy!

Removing banner from Harry Mark Petrakis article

On the article I wrote for Wikipedia on author Harry Mark Petrakis, you put a banner across the top. This is what it says:

This biographical article needs additional citations for verification. Please help by adding reliable sources. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful. (August 2014)

That banner was put up in August 2014, before the November 2014 publication of Petrakis's autobiography, "Song of My Life." When it came out, I returned to my article and added numerous citations to the autobiography to verify much biographical information. So will you look at my article again, and take the banner off now? Thank you. Lambrini Papangelis Lambrini Papangelis (talk) 21:02, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've now saved a new page called 'bleach activator' and extended a page that already existed 'sodium nonanoyloxybenzenesulfonate'. After the lunch & learn in October, I extended a similar page 'tetraacetylethylenediamine' and can see that others have edited it since! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chembuilder (talkcontribs) 21:44, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Adele

Hi Andy. I must confess I thought her nationality had been changed by one of those people who like to participate in the British v individual constituent country edit warring that goes on from time to time (often because they simply prefer the use of one term rather than the other). It happens quite a lot with Scotland articles, and if I see the nationality changed without a reason I always tend to revert to whatever the original was. But I'm very happy to go with your decision on this one. This is Paul (talk) 11:48, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore the TfD notice template immediately

Andy, please revert this edit immediately: [9]. The transclusion of the TfD notice on the affected article pages is the only way that most editors are aware that there is pending TfD. Your immediate response is requested. Thank you. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:21, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
