Revision as of 03:53, 17 August 2006

Currently I am in the process of redefining my relationship with English Wikipedia, which may take days, weeks, and even months. Notwithstanding the process being over, I shall continue to do mostly very minor edits with futuristic connotations for the Project in its entirety.
I also regret the backlog in attending to and replying to your messages.

Hi

I am fine. Just got busy in some non wiki work. Hope you are doing fine too. I still do check my watchlist once in a day and manage a minor edit here and there. But I think wiki got too complicated and people more dispruptive lately.

I hope to get back to editing :) Jisha C J 18:44, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless edits

What's the point of such edits? You really have miles to go if you chose to add this to all the articles of WP. Please find something more useful to do. --Ghirla -трёп- 15:00, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was waiting for someone to point out. Hahahha. Thanks. --Bhadani 15:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beauty of wikipedia is that our actions are always under watchful eyes, which shall make us the Best. --Bhadani 15:10, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guy, you really seem to have an editing itch, no offense intended. After my notice, you made a dozen further edits and posted six comments on this issue. Do you really think so many edits are necessary to express your opinion? With each edit, a separate version of the talk page is saved, thus overloading Wikipedia hardware. Please remember that we are here to create encyclopedic content, rather than to amuse ourselves and others. Cheers, Ghirla -трёп- 15:21, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
With each edit, a separate version of the talk page is saved, thus overloading Wikipedia hardware. Not sure if is the case, MetaWiki (I think...someone please advise if my assumption is incorrect) will keep the changes from the previous version to the next. Not the entire page, no point saving stuff that never changed. It uses other compression technologies too. If entire page was saved each time, we will run out of hard-disk space in no time. The comment Bhadani added helps to define interwiki and article boundaries. - Ganeshk (talk) 17:21, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, these are futuristic edits to prompt someone knowing other languages to translate the pages of this encyclopedia to other language(s}, and I hope that I shall see the reply here. --Bhadani 15:49, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you think deeply and watch with an open mind, you shall find that my edits are not harming the credibility of wikipedia. There are many others who lower the credibility of wikipedia. Strange: one million editors, on an average, have created just one page each in five years. --Bhadani 16:55, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advance notification: Request for later arbitration

Hi,

I'm writing to you because you have been objective and unbiased in many matters on wikipedia in the past and I trust your judgement. I believe that I am being harassed by an admin who is abusing his powers to make POV edits on the articles on Michael Witzel and the California Hindu Textbook Controversy (he has admitted that he is a student researching such issues and so has a partisan bias on this matter). He has threatened me with blocks and bans and, based on his past history, may do so very soon. Right now, he has only made empty threats in my talk page, so i's not a problem. However, if he blocks me, then I request you to arbitrate this issue. I am informing you in advance because I will not be able to contact you if I am blocked by this admin. His name is dbachman and his user page is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dbachmann.

The threats are on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Subhash_bose#Michael_Witzel

His accusations are baseless as all my edits are directly quoted from references I have cited.

If this potentially volatile situation comes to a head, I request you to be a neutral third party arbitrator on this matter. Thank you.Netaji 23:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update. He has made another veiled threat as of this time on the Michael Witzel talk page.Netaji 07:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice to hear from you. Things are hot here in Ohio. I just finished a performance with my band at the Zoo. How are things in Bihar? Badagnani 20:39, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, you're in Chennai? I am doing a research project about the American composer Alan Hovhaness who visited Madras in 1959 and composed music for Carnatic instruments. He worked with a pianist named Handel Manuel who was a local man specializing in Western classical music. I wonder if you could find any information in reference books about Handel Manuel. We're also trying to see if AIR Madras has recordings of the Hovhaness performances from that time but they haven't answered my emails. Thanks and best, Badagnani 20:41, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you want? --Bhadani 07:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That would be wonderful, and I would be indebted to you. There is a graduate student from here who has just returned from five months in Chennai with many stories to tell. He was studying about Carnatic instruments such as kanjira, ghatam, and mridangam. I hope I'll be able to visit one day. Badagnani 16:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The piece Alan Hovhaness composed for Carnatic instrument ensemble (I think in early 1959) was called "Nagooran." It was composed in honor of the saint of the Nagore Andavar Dargah which he visited; I think it's located in Nagapattinam. Badagnani 16:21, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

An admin, User:Dbachmann is using talk pages to slander and make threats. He made a personal attack on user WIN [4] using an IP address to conceal his identity. Also he has made threats against User:Subhash_bose many times. Bakaman%% 03:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How could you know that it was his IP address? Having said this, I would like to add that there are many types of editors here and some are wasting resources of wikipedia and indirectly cheating the donors of Wikimedia Foundation. Perhpas, Wikimedia Foundation feels helpless about them! --Bhadani 07:32, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The IP address redirects to his user page. I was so caught up in Holywarriors anti-Hindu crusade I failed to notice your response. Bakaman Bakatalk 17:04, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the test to identify such matters. Please try to resolve issues with him/her, instead of making it like a "war". We all are here with the same goal: to build the Project. --Bhadani 17:14, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping you could expidite the Wikipedia:Requests for investigation on a vandal.

The reason I am writing you is because you deleted the Mohammad Reza Aghaei Laghaei page on July 22, 2006.[6].

This user has been a long time vandal to the CIA page, putting this name Mohammad Reza Aghaei Laghaei on the CIA page numberous times, and he has vandalized other pages sporadically over the months.

Today, I just reported this user to the Wikipedia:Requests for investigation police.[7] I also built a page about this user: Category:Suspected_Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Akademy-force, this page was automatically created when I put the {{Template:Sockpuppet}} on this users 8 user pages.

Is it possible to close all of these 8 ISP's and his user name down permenantly?

If you are interested in helping, could I put a message on the CIA talk page to report any future abuse by this user to you? Thanks for your time. Travb (talk) 09:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Badani, Please help us. One user is already vandalizing all Kerala related pages. Many users have already warned him. I have once posted a block request in admin page, but it was archived and no body noticed it. I have posted one more request in admin notice board. the request is given below.

/*Block request for user Alniko (sock puppets: 203.199.213.66 and 203.199.213.67)

Please block the user Alniko from vandalizing the pages of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kerala. Many users have warned him many times in his talk page, but still not willing to listen. Even the final warnings to stop the Personal Attacks and the final warning to stop the edit war is issued to the user on his talk page User_talk:Alniko. He is even doing reverts which is against the 3R rule of wiki.

He is editing from the IP addresses 203.199.213.66 and 203.199.213.67

Please block this user Alniko and his IP addresses 203.199.213.66 and 203.199.213.67. */ -- Sathyalal Talk to Sathya 13:22, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block

I too agree in blocking Alniko and his IP addresses 203.199.213.66 and 203.199.213.67

He is just making the reverts blindly. Several later edits are also getting reverted. It seems like he is having a personal copy of an older version, and just pasting it in the article. There are several warnings in his talk pages from the users User:Rajithmohan, User:Deepujoseph, User:Sathyalal, User:Samaleks, and some others.

He is still not complying to the wiki policies and guidelines.

The charges are :

  • 1. He is continously engaged in edit war, and is vandalising the pages.
  • 2. He is continously violating NPOV policy by adding commentary and his personal analysis into articles.
  • 3. He is not adhering to the Neutral Point of View. The views are arrived after much discussion in the talk_page. And now, all the editors are happy with the out come. But this user suddenly came in and started making changes. He is not even willing to take it to the talk pages.
  • 4. He violates the three-revert rule frequently. See the history of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kerala Pages.
  • 5. Personal Attacks against other users. You can see his personal attacks in the talk pages of Sathyalal, Samaleks, Alniko(the unsigned comments are made by him - he often comments in his own talk_page !!) and in the history section of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kerala pages.

I suggest to impose immediate blocking upon the user:Alniko and his IP addresses 203.199.213.66 and 203.199.213.67 to stabilaze the articles.

Please see alnikos talk page

The same language is used from the same IP. Also the same comments from the IPs. Also while vandalizing he has just removed data with citations. He has removed the pictures of Technopark from same IPs. That coincidence is very easy to recognize his IP. Also Once editors asked him to put his user id instead of IP and he responded. Hello Bhadani. I can see that recent events have shaken your belief in certain things in Wikipedia. You are one of Wikipedia's greatest assets and you aren't a political type of admin, so try to ignore it. There is a correlation to real politics there and we aren't real politicians. Stay strong. Yes - good luck "redefining your relationship with the English Wikipedia", as you put it. I hope that through this process, you realize how important your contributions are to Wikipedia, and continue to stay here. -- Natalya 03:50, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Bhadani, I wish you the best of luck during this time, for however long it takes you. Just know that you're a true asset to this project both as a contributor and person, and I hope whatever has been troubling you is resolved soon. Take care, Sango123 03:53, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
