thank you for good friendly advice! - two people on DYK, both connected to Oper Frankfurt, and don't miss yesterday's video of Pink Floyd given to me! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:37, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I learned what a coloratura is. DanCherek (talk) 19:48, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
today, thank you for the Met singer, Vladyslav Buialskyi! He's also featured on project opera. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:19, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your review of that one a while back, pleased with how it turned out! DanCherek (talk) 19:48, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure! Wikipedia:Main Page history/2022 April 13: the TFA is hard to overlook, but there are also peace prayers, a soprano and a theatre manager, - if you don't find them try here --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
👍 Like. By the way, I heard the blank-space-under-section-headers bug will be fixed this week. DanCherek (talk) 21:49, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
and it was, thank goodness! - rich in music and memories --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:34, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Adding Spundekäs to the list of things I absolutely must try when I get a chance to visit Germany. DanCherek (talk) 21:16, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
recommended, the dish and visiting - dance and singing, peace doves and icecream --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:19, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I gotta stop looking at pictures like this when I'm hungry... DanCherek (talk) 20:04, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
okay no food - another Ukraine day today: Maks Levin DYK, expanding Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (have tickets), and creating Anthony Robin Schneider, the bass who could be heard opening the singing in Beethoven's Ninth twice on 10 March 2022, live in Frankfurt, Germany, and recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, singing "Freiheit!" (freedom) instead of "Freude" (joy), in a tradition started after the Fall of the Wall. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:54, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Enjoy the concert! DanCherek (talk) 16:01, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dresden tonight, Wiesbaden on Thursday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Might write Melody (Skoryk) when I have some time. [1] DanCherek (talk) 15:25, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:27, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
--Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:08, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! DanCherek (talk) 21:09, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dove sono (Where are those happy moments ...?) - concert with Kyiv orchestra and Aleksey Semenenko (quite a story!) tonight, Symphony with war and peace in the subtitle, and the red-link Melody --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:11, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Enjoy the concert (second try)! Work is getting extraordinarily busy, unfortunately, so haven't quite gotten to all of my on-wiki priorities but it's still on the to-do list. DanCherek (talk) 13:16, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
enjoyed! ... and now you can listen: Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Luigi Gaggero & Diana Tishchenko (violin) / Kulturpalast Dresden (25 April 2022 on YouTube (that's 25 April in Dresden, a different violinist, but the same program) - ours pictured here --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:43, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gerda: Melody (Skoryk)ta-da! DanCherek (talk) 21:48, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
almost at the same time, I uploaded a pic of the violinist coming for bows after playing it (or the encore ...), conductor clapping - thank you! - Can you perhaps help with the Serhiy Kot nom? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:58, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May songs

May songs

I have the quirky DYK today, which is rare, and I don't quite know why music for peace was deemed quirky. - I took and picked the blue-and-yellow pic last year for May. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:06, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well done! I don't know either, but in any case it's still a nice way to end the DYK set. The photo is really nice. (I would be remiss not to comment on the delectable Flammkuchen and Maultaschen. Learning German, one food at a time!) DanCherek (talk) 14:13, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
serious today, no food - Gidon Kremer played a Vorgabe (before the concert), a violin solo, Requiem (2014) by Igor Loboda, dedicated to the victims of the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, and the group played the usual encore, by a Ukrainian whose name I didn't understand. One of two Russians featured was present, he lives in Belgium. It was all a celebration of his 75th birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:09, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What is a Vorgabe? DanCherek (talk) 21:26, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to explain: it's a play on the word "Zugabe" = encore, lit. "added gift". It was added before the official program, after two speeches, then Schubert, then two more speeches by students of the Kronberg Academy, then the rest of the program. Kremer wore a blue&yellow bow for the Vorgabe. - Will you nominate Melody for DYK? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Already done: Template:Did you know nominations/Melody (Skoryk). Additional hooks welcome! DanCherek (talk) 21:45, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd add the composer, or it looks like an Easter egg. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:52, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good point... do you like one of these more than the others?
DanCherek (talk) 21:55, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thank you, and approved already, and good choice! - two songs today: Hey Hey Rise Up! (written by friends) and Glauben können wie du, sung by the person I have on DYK today, right below the other. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:50, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I saw the Johannes zu Eltz hook, and it's my favorite one in the set. That guy rocks, for speaking out on an issue that is deeply personal to me. DanCherek (talk) 11:35, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the encouragement! I was a bit hesitant, one thing saying this as almost the only thing about him, the other that he was more prominent for having been instrumental in the dismissal of the infamous Bishop of Limburg. But I didn't want to feed sensation only, and thought the one thing speaks volumes about him. Did you listen to his unpretentious singing? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:35, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, he sounds great! And I'm glad the article has a good photo of him. DanCherek (talk) 12:38, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We sang the song last Sunday, DYK? - today performances in Ukraine - for Ukraine - for peace, at the bottom an imaginary set of eight DYK - and more May pics--Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:10, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mind taking a look at this page for copyright violation. I saw one there, I thought I should alert you. Reading Beans Talk to the Beans? 06:27, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Reading Beans, thanks for the report! Indeed – I have removed some text that had been copied from two sources. I ran the remainder through Earwig's Copyvio Detector and didn't see anything else (there are some matches to websites that copied from Wikipedia), but let me know if I missed anything. Hope you're doing well! DanCherek (talk) 11:33, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You didn’t, it’s all fine now. I’m well! Stay safe. Reading Beans Talk to the Beans? 10:07, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AneesAishu, welcome to Wikipedia! We don't have account numbers here. Instead, editors are identified by their username – so "DanCherek" for me and "AneesAishu" for you. Let me know if you have any other questions. DanCherek (talk) 15:26, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Donna's Cyborg (01:49, 10 May 2022)

Hey, I didn't realize this was here, very helpful! I'm actually trying to figure out the best place to list articles I'd like to use for a page I want write up. I was wondering if there's a simply way to do that on my home or user page? It would be much easier for me than keeping a separate doc. Thanks! --Donna's Cyborg (talk) 01:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Donna's Cyborg! Definitely – a lot of editors use their user sandbox for something like that. Just go to User:Donna's Cyborg/sandbox, click the button to start the page, add whatever you want, and then click "Publish changes". (Note that while it won't be an actual article, other editors are still able to see anything that you publish there.) You can also create pages with different titles in your userspace depending on how you want to organize things. Just change the page name, for example User:Donna's Cyborg/notes. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 01:56, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Very helpful, thank you!!

article review

Hello If you remember, today, I posted an article called DirectDL. With your guidance, I have put a copy of a part of the article at the end of the article. But this article has not been approved yet. May you review the article again and confirm if possible? 2A01:5EC0:1801:2139:B87A:5752:96FB:41BF (talk) 19:36, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

article link is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:DirectDL E V I L044 (talk) 19:39, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have declined the draft due to a lack of reliable, independent sources. DanCherek (talk) 19:39, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

thanks very much, but i have question from you. how can 4-month website have big references? please accept this references E V I L044 (talk) 20:35, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You're right – it's not surprising that a new website like that doesn't have a lot of significant coverage, but that is generally the metric by which notability is evaluated on Wikipedia because reliable sources should be the foundation of every article. The websites that you linked in the draft are more promotional than anything, so no, I don't think it has a reasonable chance of being accepted. DanCherek (talk) 20:38, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

please, please please accept the references. I will do whatever you say, if you order, i start write this article from top to bottom; but please accept this references. if you say, i start every you want. but about refrence, i cant E V I L044 (talk) 20:46, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I think the essay Wikipedia:No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability applies in this case. That might help you understand the concerns with this draft. You are welcome to ask for additional opinions or guidance at the Articles for Creation help desk or the Teahouse, but I'm not going to move that draft to mainspace (after which it would surely be deleted). DanCherek (talk) 20:50, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me exactly what to do with the existing conditions for the reference of this article? E V I L044 (talk) 20:54, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion is that there does not exist enough published reliable coverage about DirectDL anywhere to warrant an article at this time, so I do not believe it can be improved to a point where it would be accepted. Please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources for the relevant policy about sourcing standards. DanCherek (talk) 20:57, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
