hey
sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but well i havn't been on the computer in almost 2 weeks.

for the bushmaster thing, a lost of the marker/company pages read like an add, it one of the many problems we face. the only problem is that anything bad about them (to make it NPOV) that we can find, can't be sourced, and if we only can find good stuff it reads like an add, so it's a lose-lose situation until we find a solution.

for the Paintthrower thing, it sounds really cool, but i would wait and do a bit of research before we add it in, because i dont doubt that it is out there, but we need to source and refrence it and everything. Also we don't want to be putting in wikipedia a device that someone with too much time on their hands put together, we need to make sure it's mass (or at least somewhat commercial) produced.

also for the picture thing, good work it's hard to get pictures of paintball equipment, i would try to get some but i don't have a digital camera, and my scanner isn't working.

anyway keep up the good work :D

peace out-<font color="#808000">Three</font><font color="#000000">ways</font><font color="#006400">round</font> 22:28, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Hi

Hello! Thanks for the nice words. Links to userboxes can be found at Wikipedia:Userboxes#Gallery. And thanks for your offer about the Sailor Moon images, but do keep in mind that it's really not a big deal. Whoever that was almost certainly did not intend to vandalize, and clearing up the issue won't take long at all. Anyway, thanks and have a good day. :) --Masamage 21:34, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical cyclones WikiProject Newsletter #10

Number 10, March 4, 2007

The Hurricane Herald

This is the monthly newsletter of WikiProject Tropical Cyclones. The Hurricane Herald aims to give a summary, both of the activities of the WikiProject and global tropical cyclone activity. If you wish to change how you receive this newsletter, or no longer wish to receive it, please add your username to the appropriate section on the mailing list.

Storm of the month

Cyclone Favio near Madagascar
Cyclone Favio near Madagascar

Cyclone Favio developed well to the east of northern Madagascar on February 12 and moved to the southwest as it developed. The storm did not significantly intensify until February 19 when it was just off the southern coast of Madagascar, but rapidly intensified soon after to its peak with 185 km/h (115 mph) winds. Favio turned to the northwest and hit Mozambique worsening the floods already occurring in the country. Favio claimed at least 4 lives and destroyed thousands of homes.

Other tropical cyclone activity
There were a total of 6 tropical cyclones in the southern hemisphere during February. Five of these, including Favio, were in the South West Indian Ocean.

 • The only other storm in the Australian region was Cyclone Nelson which formed at the end of January in the Gulf of Carpentaria before it hit Queensland.
 • Cyclone Dora was active in January and reached its peak as an annular cyclone on February 3 with 185 km/h (115 mph) winds.
 • Cyclone Gamede was an unusually large storm that prompted the highest level of cyclone warning on Réunion and brought strong winds to the island on February 27, causing a bridge to collapse.
 • Neither Enok towards the start of the month or Humba near its end, had any impact on land.

Member of the month

The February member of the month is Miss Madeline. Miss Madeline is responsible for many of the projects featured lists such as List of Category 5 Pacific hurricanes and List of California hurricanes. She has also put serious work into many of our Pacific hurricane articles since she joined the project as one of its founding members. Recently she has worked on 1996 Pacific hurricane season, bringing it from a stub-class article to a Good article candidate.

Comments wanted on project talk Many discussions that potentially have far reaching impact for the whole project are carried out on the project's talk page. However, only a fraction of our active contributors actually engage in those discussions. If you add the project page to your Watchlist and keep an eye on discussions there to monitor upcoming changes, even if you don't participate in those discussions it would help both yourself and the project as a whole. For instance, at the moment the primary infobox templates such as Infobox hurricane are in the process of being deprecated and replaced by new versions which do the role more effectively.

How to Archive?

{helpme}

how do i archive stuff on my talk page? i dont think deleting things will be too nice but where can i put stuff like this? thanks Maverick423 19:00, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there are different ways to archive a talk page. For more information, see Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 19:02, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On your Wikinews article about A-Kron

There are questions concerning your article "A-Kon robbed at BorderFest", please take a look at it at http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/A-Kon_robbed_at_BorderFest

Thanks for your time,
--Wowaconia 11:36, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Festivals project

I think the best thing to do would probably be to contact Wikipedia:WikiProject Holidays and ask them if they would be willing to take on the Festivals project as a "task force" or other functional work group. It could still have the name "WikiProject" or not, but function like the subprojects of other larger projects. The Talk:Adelaide page shows how the various Australia projects have done this. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't agree to it. Also, you'd probably only need 5 people to start the project with a task force, so you could probably even get rolling faster. Best of luck with the idea. John Carter 14:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you wanted to merge the proposal with the Holidays project, the best way would be to ask the Holidays Project if they would be willing to either expand the scope of the project to include all festivals and/or ask them to take on the group as some sort of subproject (the names task force and work group are both used). I would assume that they would respond positively to one or the other, but it would be best to check with them in any event. John Carter 17:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information. I can potentially try to add for other festivals and holidays, but right now the saints project is taking up a lot of time. I think there is a Gale-published Encyclopedia of Holidays which might be of use to you. I also think that adding some data on the various observances of religious holidays and festivals would be very welcome to wikipedia, as many help reflect the social organization of the local communities. Best of luck. John Carter 14:49, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings. if you are interested about festivals, maybe you could have a look at those in one of my missing topics pages. - Thank you Skysmith 14:54, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added the information on how to add the template on the project page. Basically, just add the name of the Template minus the "Template:" in 's to transpose the template onto the page. John Carter 17:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're going to want to change the existing phrasing of the template, as they won't be able to see the warning until after it's added to the talk page and it will stay visible throughout, giving a less than certain impression to the project. But, just add WikiProject Festivals, character for character, to the talk page to add the banner. John Carter 19:30, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings again. I collected the listings of all the festivals from my other pages into one page about missing festival articles. I hope this may be more useful - Skysmith 06:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

excellent this will make it alot easier to sort through the list thanks much! Maverick423 13:31, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How to make Templets and stuff

well this time i would like to know how to make templets? you know like the one above that once u put in a certain word with the { and } marks they show a box with info and all that good stuff. how do i create one? i need to know so i can create one for my festivals project. thanks much for your time and help Maverick423 20:20, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. When you help him, can you post the answer on my talk too please? WikiMan53 (talk contribs count) | Can I have your autograph? 21:24, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. Existing templates are listed at Wikipedia:Template messages. If you cannot find the template you need, you can request it on Wikipedia:Requested templates. For help on creating templates yourself, see Help:Template, or contact a user who has identified themselves as an adept template coder. Hope that helps. --Jon186 21:30, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How to start a newsletter ....

or something like what the other projects have. i asked around tech support but to no avail so can someone please give me the layout of how a newsletter is programmed? as far as the box sizes and stuff like that how to color them. i already got the place where i want the newsletter to be placed its ganna be in a template format under Festival Newsletter. I just dont know how to start one up so that it looks like the other projects newsletters. any help will be much appreciated. thanks much! Maverick423 20:43, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would try asking one of the people who operates said newsletters, or contacting one of the users listed in Category:User_template_coder. I'll leave the helpme box up, since this isn't a very helpful response. Sorry. Hersfold (talk/work) 22:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical cyclones WikiProject Newsletter #11

Number 11, April 1, 2007

The Hurricane Herald

This is the monthly newsletter of WikiProject Tropical Cyclones. The Hurricane Herald aims to give a summary, both of the activities of the WikiProject and global tropical cyclone activity. If you wish to change how you receive this newsletter, or no longer wish to receive it, please add your username to the appropriate section on the mailing list.

Please visit this page and bookmark any suggestions of interest to you. This will help improve monitoring of the WikiProject's articles.

Storm of the month

Damage from Will

Hurricane Will developed from a tropical wave to the east of the Caribbean Sea and intensified. It crossed over Jamaica and re-emerged over water a few days later. The storm intensified into a hurricane and an eye began to develop. Will became a major hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall on the vulnerable Gulf Coast of the United States soon after. To date, Hurricane Will has claimed over 350 lives and is directly responsible for about $5 billion of damages; of which an unknown amount was insured. Despite the damage, it is not expected that the name will be retired by WMO.

Other tropical cyclone activity

 • After threatening the Eastern Seaboard for some time, Hurricane Hink has turned away and the NHC has cancelled all warnings associated with the storm.
 • The 2007 Pacific typhoon season began with Tropical Storm Kong-rey forming on March 31.
 • There were a total of 7 cyclones in the southern hemisphere: Becky in the South Pacific, Indlala and Jaya in the Southwestern Indian Ocean and Odette, George, Jacob and Kara in the Australian region. Indlala killed at least 80 and left over 100,000 homeless; whilst Cyclone George was the worst storm to affect Port Hedland in over 30 years.

The April member of the month is HurricaneIrene. Irene began contributing to tropical cyclone articles on Wikipedia in August 2005, but ran out of steam and left after barely 2 weeks. However, Irene's influence on the project has been wide-reaching. Her efforts led directly to two articles attaining featured status and her legacy inspired many of our most active editors to write a plethora of good articles on a wide range of storms.

The Main Page

The WikiProject has a narrow scope, so it is not surprising that our articles are not frequently selected for Today's featured article. Most destructive cyclones are likely to be mentioned on the In the news column. We have no real control over that, but we should submit suggestions when appropriate.

However, we can do a more lot more to place our content in the other major section of the main page: The Did you know column. In the past month we created over 30 articles. Of these only 2 were even submitted as suggestions for DYK. We can do much better, please submit DYK entries for new articles when you do the initial assessment.

WikiProject MMO Newsletter - April 2007

WikiProject MMO Quarterly
April 2007 Issue I
About Us
WikiProject MMO Quarterly is a quarterly newsletter posted on the first of January, April, July, and October. The newsletter is written by any and all interested members of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games for members of the project and interested Wikipedians outside of the project.
Questions, comments, and concerns
For general questions, comments, and concerns, leave a message on our talk page here. For questions, comments, and concerns about our newsletter, leave a message on the talk page for the newsletter section of our Outreach Department here.
New good articles and featured articles
Good articles and featured articles are a great way to see what major acomplishments we have made over the last quarter.

Good articles

Featured articles
None this quarter!

Role call
We ask that within a month, all members sign our role call to show that they are still active participants in the project. More information is available on the role call page.
Major news
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.

This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.

As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.

WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.

News from the RuneScape Task Force
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.

We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.

Signed...
Greeves, Ed

On behalf of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games.

To change your personal newsletter distribution preferences, please see the newsletter page from the Outreach Department.

Microwave gun

Sure. I don't have a lot of hard editing time right now, but I'm glad to help out and such. Maybe I should make an EM weapons template. [Mαc Δαvιs]21:56, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, the article should definitely be microwave gun. The template will be called Template:Emweapons [Mαc Δαvιs]03:06, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have redirected Microwave gun to Active Denial System. This article already exists. Please feel free to contribute if you have new, reliable information. Nimur 17:37, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I unredirected it and improved the article because I there is more to microwave guns than the active denial system, and you couldn't put that information in the ADS article. [Mαc Δαvιs]17:51, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You should probably hit the talk page too. [Mαc Δαvιs]19:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paranormal

Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Paranormal ... but one thing, dont report a paranormal event there, if you wanted to you could create an article on the event or just look for your cities article in wikipedia and add a subsection dedicated to these paranormal events and remeber to provide citation or references (it may get removed if you dont provide any) (:O) -Nima Baghaei talk · cont · email 17:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • the reason i suggest doing a draft-article before actually creating an article is that you can edit and improve your draft-article before publishing it which helps prevent the article from being deleted hehe (:O) -Nima Baghaei talk · cont · email 17:08, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Paintball News edit
 • The term "paintball gun" is no longer to be used in any article: please change this wherever you see it! We must use the term paintball marker at all times from here on out. Keep up the good work. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
 • It has been strongly suggested by fellow member Three ways round that we add references and sources to our articles and make this our priority for now, as expansion and addition of articles has been slow of late. Go find an unsourced article and get some good references! Together we can make the WikiProject Paintball more authentic and encyclopedic. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
Category News edit
 • The player positions pages have been renamed according to game type to be more accurate.
 • Two more subcategories have been created: Woodsball, and Speedball. If any new pages are created that are related to these, please use their respective category tags instead of . Thanks!
Priority Tasks edit
1. Find sources for all articles to remove original research issues. Resist the urge to simply enter new information based on your own playing experience (this applies especially to strategy and role based articles).
2. Pages about paintball markers, unless very notable and well sourced, should be either merged back into the main company's page - or a page detailing the company's series of products. Having a single page for each marker model is too unwieldly and yields a lot of stubs.
3. Top priority articles should reach at least C class.

RE:paintball weapon

hey

i read what you said and you have a good point. I quickly took a look around the paintball area's i knew and thought might have a section on that and, lucky enough i decided to check in on the Paintball equipment article. near the bottem it has a section about 'other' exoctic weapons/equipment used. It has a subcategory for paintball grenade, so you could add the paintball Rocket Launcher/bazooka section there. i would myself but that's not exactly my area of expertise, so good luck

peace out-Threewaysround 23:15, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey sorry about the link being messed up. the right one is here. just add another subcategory in it for the rocket launcher/bazooka when you have the time.

Re: Paintball navigation

Hey Maverick,

Good job with the navigation template! I myself am quite busy these days so Wikipedia is going lower and lower on my priorities list, unfortunately. We've been meaning to make a Rating template, much like the WikiMilitary History project is using. You can see it right here. If you could make something like that, or at least help me out with it (I am terrible with complicated templates like that, despite my being a programmer), it would be very useful to the project.

Remember that all it takes for a paintball marker article is a picture, I still hold my promise that I will do the rest!

BKO (Bushmaster Knock-Off).

I am unsure why you have taken it upon yourself to dispute so much in the BKO wiki. If you look at the other markers in your Paintball template, there are examples of the exact same information that you have decided to remove or edit from the BKO wiki.

For example see the wiki E_Matrix_(Paintball_Marker), You'll note there is all kinds of information on the solenoid operation, information on aftermarket parts (breeches), electronic board firing modes, design variations etc...

Another example is the Tippmann_98_custom wiki. Included is a list of upgrades and accesories. It also includes the MSRP. It also cites specific references to the BPS cap of the marker.

Add to that your Insult to me by referencing Sockpuppet in reference to my post in talk page regarding myself being an Expert on BKO's. That is a poor way of going about things. I am an expert on the subject. Who are you to say otherwise?

If you do not cease your actions I will be forced to get a third opinion on the content matter or even go to mediation.

Thank you,

Spitlebug 01:15, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Send me an email: BKO (Bushmaster Knock-Off)

Send me an email to Spitlebug@hotmail.com and I will prove to you that I indeed have more information about all ICD markers than the average paintball player, and that infact I am an expert on the subject.

Just put the BKO in the message title and I'll send you some images. I don't want to post them publicly, and for reasons (obvious once you get the pictures) they will have information missing because they are confidential and proprietary information.
