Hey Phaedriel, it's me again. I just discovered a policy on Wikipedia at WP:LINKS#Restrictions on linking which states that without exception external links should not be made to websites which contain unlicensed copyrighted materials. Custerwest's blog custerwest.org includes unlicensed copyrighted materials, which I had discovered some time ago with a particular article (see Talk:Battle of Washita River/Archive 1#Custerwest's use of sources: two examples). On Custerwest's blog site, the article Black Kettle is actually a lengthy (unlicensed) excerpt of the same article by Gregory Michno at Historynet.org (see second page of article) that you deleted a copyvio a couple weeks ago. |
|||
Per the policy about restrictions on linking, Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. If you know that an external Web site is carrying a work in violation of the creator's copyright, do not link to that copy of the work. Linking to a page that illegally distributes someone else's work sheds a bad light on Wikipedia and its editors. I've already removed links to this blogsite from two articles , but since Battle of Washita River is still fully protected, I can't removed it from there. Could you remove it? It's the second from the bottom link -- "custerwest Accounts and primary sources on the battle". Thanks. --Yksin 22:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC) |

P.S. I talked with Daniel; he said RfCs should come before a formal request for mediation or arbitration. I'm busy working on 'em. --Yksin 22:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC) |

But in the meantime, could you take a look back at the talk page? It seems like personal attack city there, now with Felix c (talk · contribs) joining in by posting a bunch of material he got from looking up Custerwest outside Wikipedia. Gee, I've known that stuff for several weeks myself, but isn't posting it on a talk page tantamount to personal attack? CW's response not that much better. It doesn't seem that there's not even an attempt to use the talk page for the reason's an article talk page is supposed to be used, anymore -- i.e., about the article. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 09:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC) Mmmmm cake :DDear Phaedriel, thank you for the yummy cake! And no worries about the beer, I'm a teetotaler! And yes, as it turns out, the basics of my user page come from you. I ran into Chris the other day, and asked him if I could use his page as a template, because I just loved the layout. He told me his was from you, and I should ask you to make me one of my own, but I felt that it would be very rude for a perfect stranger to ask for such a huge favor, and indeed, your page mentioned how busy you were, so I just did not feel it right that I intrude, when we've never met. So... I spent 9+ hours trying to change it, and make it more "me". (Even though if it were up to me, I doubt it would look like that, I'm in no way that "organized" in RL! lol) I do not at ALL understand the script Wiki uses (heck I barely understand the basics of HTML, and I started making web pages over 10 years ago) so for me, it was a very painful process. Replace something, see if it changes anything, replace another thing, rinse, repeat. Ugh. But, with my Irish stubborn streak, and what I think was just pure dumb luck, I did get something semi-presentable. I wasn't able to do what I want, and it looks too much like Chris' page, (not "Ariel-y" at all) but compared to how it looked before... ( ack ! I made that 2 years ago, and could never understand how to change it to look better, lol.) At the time, I did not stop and think that altering Chris' page might be considered "taking" something from you, and I sincerely apologize for not taking the time to consider that. I don't think I understood when he said his page was compliments of you. As it turns out, you've designed many people's pages! (And awesome ones, I might add.) If you wish me to revert it, I would completely understand, and maybe just leave it semi-blank for now, I doubt I'll ever understand the intricacies of this CSS (or java or whatever language it is) stuff, and especially tables, to be able to do what I really would want. Talk about confusing for a Liberal Arts type person! (Psychology major lol, definitely not tech-minded). But, that didn't stop me from seeing that it was your birthday this week, and I did think it would be alright for a stranger to wish you a happy birthday, which is why I did. And I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful day! Respectfully, Ariel♥Gold 10:54, 30 July 2007 (UTC) A (late?) happy birthday wishHey! Ars Technica and local news sources around Kentucky frequently discuss an apparently notable project called ConnectKentucky that, if fleshed out, would be great to summarize in the WISP article. I never did see it before it was deleted through CsD, but I wonder if there was any salvageable content in it prior to its deletion. Is there any chance I could get you to userfy my some of it at User:Mrzaius/sandbox/ConnectKentucky before I start to reinvent the wheel/rewrite it from scratch? I've already removed links to this blogsite from two articles [1] [2], but since Battle of Washita River is still fully protected, I can't removed it from there. Could you remove it? It's the second from the bottom link -- "custerwest Accounts and primary sources on the battle". Thanks. --Yksin 22:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC) P.S.
