New single conformation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just put a link with cold as fire so please don't deleate it in the link T-Pain himself says that cold as fire will be a single and because of that it will appear on the album!!! This is the first conformation of a single/track on the album.

  • First of all, it wasn't confirmed. For all we care, he could say that he's the father of her children, whatever.

Second, you credited britneyexperts.com as your source. So reliable :|

Album release confirmed!!!!!!

I put a link in the article because mtv(They are reliable!!!!!!!) says that Britney's new album is scheduled for a christmas release. Please don't deleate this because mtv is a reliable source!!!!!!Ps: i just added another link saying that rolling stone has also confirmed a christmas release!

  • Mtv is NOT reliable, but whatever, we'll leave it.

Yes, it usually is. However, most sources are still saying a September or November release. Soapfan06 22:05, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sony BMG Germany says November 13th--Jak3m 16:01, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First single

I just put in the article 3(there a many more) links both saying that britney shot her first music video today. Do not delete this, this is valuable information!!!! It even comes from one of the back-up dancers in the video!!!!Ps: A couple of hours later I added a fourth link!

  • I now even added a Fifth link. This is happening!
  • I've added a sixth link. Again from a very reliable source.
  • I've added a seventh link.
How could you say that it's a reliable source where in fact you credited fan sites of Britney. We need a confirmation from Britney herself or any representatives from Jive. BritandBeyonce 03:54, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People and Us Magazine are credible sources and they ran stories...this person was right to post. Soapfan06 06:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I did not put Britney fan sites as a source! These are my sources:X17 online, Perezhilton.com,Usmagazine,People,Extra tv and more!
Well, US Magazine is realible. X17, i dont know.BritandBeyonce 10:04, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Freakshow is the lead single. BritandBeyonce 09:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Magazines are not reliable, at all.--Jak3m 18:28, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album Names

Did Britney come up with these names or did her fans?

haha. just fans who are so exited with the album. no confirmation yet. BritandBeyonce 06:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

actually, britneyspears.com, your telling me thats not a source? Integrity came on top.--Jak3m 15:58, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So? What now if INTEGRITY came on top? Did Spears announced that it would be the album title? No any confirmation right? BritandBeyonce 08:42, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop!

Adding names of "recorded" songs since Jive and Britney have yet to confirm ANYTHING! These tracks change so much and a lot will probably never make it to the album in the end. Until you have a VALID source, please don't waste your time...it will be deleted! Soapfan06 05:26, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's right. It will just be deleted from the article because Brit's camp has no confirmation yet. BritandBeyonce 08:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

actually, britneyspears.com, your telling me thats not a source? Integrity came on top.

New video

There is NO reason to delete the filming of the video since every entertainment magazine and TV show confirmed Spears was in fact filming those days. It is important to have in the article so stop taking it off from there! 75.57.191.178 22:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you have a read of Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Citing_sources. It's not sufficient to mention 'several media outlets' without naming/sourcing them (so that other users may check them out) and ensuring that their news is actually worth the paper it's written on. --Kurt Shaped Box 22:57, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at other Album articles it doesnt involve anything to do with music videos, save the music video stuff for the song article.--Jak3m 16:13, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Her Music Video

Why are people adding this to the Album article, Videos should be on the song article, just wait for the song and then add it to its page. --Jak3m 16:12, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It has everything to do with the album since videos help promote albums. Please leave it in there. She was filming the first music video of the new album which is a big deal in confirming it is coming out soon. Soapfan06 19:05, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But it will have to be moved to the songs article in time.--Jak3m 18:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ALBUM RELEASE

ALBUM TITLE - INTERGRITY

WHAT DO YOU THINK ?! PLEASE COMMENT :D MY NAME IS "Dom10194rules" DON'T BE AFRAID ;)

Dis is not britney spears official tracklist because gimme more is not even on there in also cold as fire was produced by t-pain not timbaland —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.135.105.14 (talk) 05:32, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

where did you get this information? Wheres your source?--Jak3m 10:07, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Where? BritandBeyonce 06:55, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up

I think the album page looks messy and that it shoeld be cleaned up

I think it's quite difficult to clean it up until the album is actually released. Right now we have these "edit wars" where editors keep inserting and deleting information. And ultimately creating this messiness. Until we have more reliable sources to confirm the release and details of this album, this article will continue to be messy. Even if someone clean it up, someone else will mess it up again. When there's more sources confirming this ablum, I myself will try and do a clean up. Oidia 06:59, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should wait until the album and songs and whatever are confirmed, not long to wait hopefully.--Jak3m 18:22, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should actually delete this page. What's the point if the album isn't coming out for several months and we know absolutely nothing? Liloallen19 06:59, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
It's actually coming. Even the single is hitting the charts. BritandBeyonce 10:31, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Famous magazine

Britney has now finished filming her video clip for comeback single "Get Back" - admittedly with more than few problems on set, as Brit donned stripper wear for the bump 'n grind shot, which she financed herself as her record company didn't believe the song itself was strong enough.

Source [1]

The majority of the source is useless because it's comparing Britney with the Spice Girls. I personally don't know how reliable Famous Magazine is. But they've clearly stated that Britney has finished filming a video for the first single. Let's see if there's more sources comfirming it, right now I'm not too convinced. Proposed deletion

Didn't realize the article was vandalized, just looked like it was written as a bunch of nonsense thrown together. Apologies. Zchris87v 03:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No! We cant delete this article. It's an upcoming album and infos would likely be more speculative, though messy at times. What we need to do is to continuously watch for its updates whether it's applicable or not. BritandBeyonce 11:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I was apologizing for a proposed deletion. What I saw when I came here was this, which looked like it deserved deletion. Zchris87v 04:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I got your point. The page was really a mess. But it's ok now. I think the one who edited it was a neophyte contributor who do not know what to do. Let's forgive him/her. BritandBeyonce 09:41, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baby Boy

On August 23rd, a song by Britney Spears called "Baby Boy" leaked (Perez Hilton) and it is now on internet. It is supposed to be a demo for her upcoming album. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.13.147.78 (talk) 14:49, August 23, 2007 (UTC)

Who told you it's called BABY BOY? BritandBeyonce 09:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MY GOD!

My Godness, nothing has been confirmed!!!!

nothing at ALL has been confirmed about britney's new album, if there now will be one. I think the entire article should be deleted. welovekes, AUG 29, 2007

Update!!??

i agree with the comment above me. it's september the friggin 26th and this article still says that the album "will come out" ten days ago. (!!!) either update it or delete it.--148.206.91.89 20:58, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE be careful with sources

Considering there are already a lot of people who would like to get rid of this article, we need to make sure we are extra careful with our sources and the information we put on this page. We cannot use information on this article unless there is a verifiable source for it. I know many of you have lists of track titles and who produced them, but if you want to include those on the article, you must include a reliable source with them. Not only is it Wikipedia policy, but it makes us look a lot more professional. If we continue to post information that is unsourced or taken from unverifiable sources (gossip websites and discussion boards), we will not only hurt the reputation of Britney Spears editors on Wikipedia, we will also risk getting this article taken away.

We should have a lot of information on this album really soon, so lets keep patient until that day, and then we can revamp this entire article with all of the new stuff. But until then, we have to hold tight until we get some better sources!

Thanks for understanding. --Circasix 23:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What happened???????????????

What happened to the article? It used to have more information!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.161.253.22 (talk) 02:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles are supposed to be congested though it has a long content but a short context. BritandBeyonce 11:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People Magazine is not a source

So we either need to find the original source, or delete the release date.Phoenix1304 12:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is. It credits Jive Records. Most reliable thing in this article is this piece of info. Soapfan06 23:54, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it isn't. People Magazine is a gossip magazine, and it is reporting the facts, not issuing them. Jive is the only source that is credible for that information. Phoenix1304 22:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
People magazine is one of THE MOST reliable and creditable source out there. (out of most celebrity magazines) Oidia (talk) 23:59, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its still a gossip magazine :/ --Jak3m 23:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People magazine is:

  • published by Time magazine. Time is very reliable.
  • refraining from printing pure celebrity gossip, enough so to lead celebrity publicists to propose exclusives to the magazine, evidence of what one staffer calls it a "publicist-friendly strategy. [9]
  • named "Magazine of the Year" by Advertising Age in October 2005, for excellence in editorial, circulation and advertising. [10]

Sounds convincing to me. Oidia (talk) 23:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I guess--Jak3m 23:53, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reliability is not the issue, here. It could report the facts 100% accurately all the time, but we still cannot cite it as the source. The source, by definition, is the person, company, group, etc. that issues the facts. People Magazine is out, unless you're writing an article about People Magazine. Phoenix1304 19:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Leaked songs all over the internet.....

Ubritney.com has 4 leaked songs for her new album supposedly. Should we comment on it. They were leaked on September 3rd and they sound official and they do very much sound like her. They all seem like quality songs. 4 new tracks (they are: Been A While, Got Me High, Everybody and Your...), Some of them are only clips but I still think this is notable assuming it's true and I believe it is. Skinwalker03 01:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They were recorded in 2005 for her album 'The Original Doll' it never got released as she got pregnant. Jive are releasing these 3 songs basically to get hype for the upcoming album, they have said that these 'your..' 'been a while' and 'got me high' wont be on this new album. 'Everybody' is the only leaked one.--Jak3m 20:56, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What happened?

Where are all the other producers on the album? Who deleted them? Please don't say nothing ever materialzed with Timbaland and Britney because there is no proff whatsoever saying that. A lot of time artists work descretly to give the element of surprise. Soapfan06 03:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Though some contributors has sited a source, the fact the we don't how many songs they produced, there is no reason to include them in the roster of producers because, usually, considered producers or main producers are those who produced not just one song but many. BritandBeyonce 11:17, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poor grammar

Britney Spears' fifth studio album should be Britney Spears's fifth studio album

refer to Wiki's own article on apostrophes. Only plurals drop the s after the apostrophe...thus this is a proposal to move this to Britney Spears's fifth studio album MrMarmite 20:57, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but your proposition is absolutely wrong. If you think the grammar of that phrase is not right, you're wrong too. If a word ends with "S" and you want to add apostrophe, like Spears, the correct is Spears'. If it's Spear, then the possessive case is Spear's. Hope you got my point. BritandBeyonce 00:53, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

au contraire. Have a look at Apostrophe#Singular_nouns_ending_in_s.2C_z.2C_or_x as well as http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_apost.html and http://www.englishclub.com/grammar/nouns-possessive.htm Also refer to the book Eats shoots and leaves"MrMarmite 07:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't why the "new" grammar is this. Well, it's ok for me. Change it. BritandBeyonce 03:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on the word. The section in the apostrophe article linked to above says: Rules that modify or extend this principle have included the following:
  • If the singular possessive is difficult or awkward to pronounce with an added s sound, do not add an extra s; these exceptions are supported by The Guardian, Emory University's writing center, and The American Heritage Book of English Usage.
"Spears'" is therefore correct, always has been and always will be. — AnemoneProjectors (会話) 18:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bad. The page was already edited with "Spears's". Kindly raise this concern more to let other post their comments so we could get a concencus. Thank you.

BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:20, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is bad grammar to use s's here. Of interest is Image:Heart-to-Heart.jpg. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:25, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So much for consensus..as long as Admins can feel free to override Wiki policies. MrMarmite 15:09, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not policy, it's grammar. Spears's is simply incorrect. You don't have to be an admin to move a page. — AnemoneProjectors (会話) 15:27, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the page has been move-protected due to the speculation about the album's name (instead of the grammar). It's easy for an admin to not realise this. But you're right about the grammar :) -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:34, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikipedia Manual of Style says to go with "Spears's," and that the s should be left off only in cases where it's historically been the most common possessive, like "Jesus'". So, Spears's it is, on Wikipedia at least. -Elmer Clark 06:53, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Manual of Style, in this case, reflects The Elements of Style, which many writers consider authoritative. Chapter 1, page 1 of Elements of Style says "Form the possessive singular of nouns by adding 's. Follow this rule whatever the final consonant. Thus write, Charles's friend, Burns's poems, the witch's malice. Exceptions are the possessives of ancient proper names ending in -es and -is, the possessive Jesus', and such forms as for conscience' sake or for righteousness' sake". This from the Reference Desk when the same question came up a few weeks ago. The consensus then was to leave it as Spears's. But like Mr. Marmite said, apparently administrators no longer feel they need to adhere to policy...or consensus, apparently. Jeffpw 15:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Spears's is not incorrect, but there seems little point in making further comment. What would I know?...I'm not an Admin...just a professional author..whose name ends in an s :) Have a look at page 4 of this [11] MrMarmite 15:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't agree but I'll move it back. Sorry for causing so much bother. — AnemoneProjectors (会話) 16:04, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You sir, are a gentleman. MrMarmite 16:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not, but thanks. Anyway my work here is done (and undone) so I shall remove the page from my watchlist. — AnemoneProjectors (会話) 17:51, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No it is not, and don't add it back to the page CRocka05 19:05, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That picture was taken on 2004, it was featured in her Greatest Hits: My Prerogative album. So no it won't be the new album cover. Oidia (talk) 22:56, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We don't need the VMA performance of "Gimme More" in this article.

It's already on the 'Gimme More' page and the neutrality is suspect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.117.246.215 (talk) 22:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree I don't believe this performance should be included in the description either, it might not even be appropriate on the Gimme More page, it's not very encyclopedic and it has serves no purpose. 69.209.229.155 00:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's the performance of the song to promote it. Maddyfan 05:48, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's was really a promotion on her single. We should put it in the page but with a limited words and be more encyclopedic. Not that an updater. BritandBeyonce 09:15, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title change

I don't know who changed it, but I think it was premature. The sentence about this being the definite title is unsourced, and the only info on the web I could find was from People Magazine, which only went so far as to day that this is the possible title. I think the article title should be changed back until we have a reliable source which confirms this. Jeffpw 06:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the history of this page and it was Soapfan06 who redirected the whole thing. Me too changed the title in the Discography section but thanks to your immediate message, I've undone it already. BritandBeyonce 09:21, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well no, actually, it´s still called Piece Of Me. I have put in a request to have it changed back with administrators and some obscure page of wikipedia, but so far no luck. [I don´t know how to undo a redirect like this without making a complete hash of it, so it will have to stand as is until somebody who has better knowledge can fix it. Thanks for trying though, BritneyBeyonce. Jeffpw 09:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome. It was also CrookedAsterisk who redirected the page but undoing it was just so easy. No prob on that. Though People.com had an article bout the possible album title, as you said "premature", should we change the title in the album's page? Someone changed it already. If that so, we will also try to change in the Discography section. BritandBeyonce 10:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've move protected the page to ensure it stays here until a title is officially announced. The move protection can be lifted once we know that the article should be called- either ask me or make a request at WP:RFPP... WjBscribe 11:49, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's right. Move that until such time that editors could cite a more realiable source either from Spears's camp or from the others which is credible enough. BritandBeyonce 12:21, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Full-Protection

What if we will full-protect this page for a while? The page has almost been edited 100 times or more than that a day with different versions. This will help the page be consistent and not messy. We will just post our comments in the talk page until the administrators see it as considerable enough. BritandBeyonce 12:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really like full protection myself, unles there's edit warring. Semi is usually enough. One editor, though, needs to learn not to make so many changes without consensus. There's a reason why we have a talk page. Jeffpw 12:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But what's is happening is that editors don't bother to post their comments here in the talk page. Actually I don't like full-protection too because it restrain us to contribute or edit but sad to say that the page has become an "updater" or whatsoever with no sufficient, realible or credible source. Let's take a no-to-edit for a while. Just a while until we can have a very concrete source. BritandBeyonce 12:47, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem reverting editors, and asking administrators to intervene if necessary to block editors from working on an article. To me, full protection defeats the purpose of Wikipedia. Having said that, I share your frustration with people who edit an article willy nilly, without a thought for citations or other Wikipedia conventions. Cheers, Jeffpw 13:06, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers Jeffpw!!! BritandBeyonce 11:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing...

Why is it that the release date in Spears's page do not co-incides with that of the Album page and it's infobox. Could someone settle this? We might mislead fans as well as researchers. Thanks. BritandBeyonce 08:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

These Are The New Songs

We don't know that for sure; I've added a "potential tracks" section to the article so that this kind of information can be added without being portrayed as definite fact when it isn't. I know some people might complain that adding it is purely speculative, but it's better than having the tracks listed under the "confirmed" section and, for research purposes, is still quite useful information to have.Moonriver90 16:21, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't do this

Don't add info like this may affect the release of the album UNTIL it is actually confirmed by Jive or Spears. Jive issued a statement just this Monday they are unaware of changes in her management and are going forward with a November 13th release date.Soapfan06 22:39, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, like first of all, what does her management have to do with the release date and why would it be affected? it wouldn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thankssir (talkcontribs) 03:49, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album name official?

How can we know when to change it? Play.com a good CD site has it for pre-order under the name "Pieces of Me". I doubt they would lie. So how do we know if it is official enough to change? "Piece of Me" prealbum leaked... Paagal cirtic 04:20, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

the Pre-album has released as of the 19th and it has songs that have been mentioned on the page so it might actually be a legit leak. its contains 13 tracks

That's just another fan made album, not an actual pre-album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thankssir (talkcontribs) 07:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me what your sippin on and the sin city rap were from nearly 3 years ago. I doubt they will appear on the album.--Jak3m 14:00, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Get Back?

I really just can't understand the language used in Netherlands which, if i'm not mistaken, is Dutch. But the list was so clear. Spears's Get Back was listed as new pop releases. Is the song real? Did Spears recorded this? Check this out. BritandBeyonce (talk) 10:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I speak Dutch and read the chart. He doesn't say where he got the information, just that it is a pop song that will probably be released in Holland, either because he read it somewhere (criterion 2) or because he saw it had a release date in the United Kingdom (criterion 3). It is not a confirmed Dutch release, or it would have the date to the right in brackets (criterion 1). I wouldn't use this as a reliable source, since he doesn't give any confirming data, and it is called "future hit parade". The name doesn't sound too reliable, to me. Ok. Thanks for that. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 23:45, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit album name?

I mean www.play.com has confirmed pieces of me, HMV confirmed pieces of me, people magazine confirmed pieces of me and a radi station confirmed pieces of me! Isn't it about time that we say the album is called pieces of me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ikkomuitnederland (talkcontribs) 09:42, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can request it here or to this user WjBscribe who moved the page. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 09:54, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Album Names

Since this page is so "hot" due to many contributors who always edits this page almost everyday, please do comment if you want to change something especially the album's name. If you have a concrete source to cite, request to admins to move the page. Please refer to comment that precedes this one. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:13, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube has many "leaked" songs for this album, including "A Little Bit of Oh". Does Britney own the copyright to this song and will it be on the new album? Possibly it should be included as one of the tracks. 68.164.242.93 14:54, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Danielle —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.242.93 (talk)

Requested move

Jive released a banner today talking about the sucess of Gimme More and it also says her new LP is called Blackout, and is coming out November 13th. This has to be official. http://www.britneyspy.com/2007/10/03/britneys-fifth-studio-album-blackout/ MusicLover 16:11, 03 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An advertising banner is not a reliable source. Is there anything on the official Jive website? - eo 20:15, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
why wouldnt it be? Why would Jive put a fake name on a promotional banner? MusicLover 16:18, 03 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What source do you have that Jive made that banner? What is the huge rush? Just wait until Jive announces it or it shows up in a press release or on her official website. - eo 20:35, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anything to replace this "fifth studio album thing" it's just awful at this point that we don't have a title up. Skinwalker03 20:23, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an encyclopedia. The title may be cumbersome at first, but until there is a reliable source, it should not be changed. - eo 20:31, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
