The "citation" is a bad link that connects to a junk page with adds etc. All the documentation I've read mentions a 60 fps rate on the 360. Not sure what the PS3 rate is but 30 fps seems awfully low. == Cheating CPU AI? ==

Anyone talk about the direct cheating in the game?
What about source code in the game directly written for the purpose of cheating?
Example: At the end of a game when time is running out, the computers team can go offsides or encroach. It doesn't matter if I accept the penalty or not, the time is stopped for this penalty.
However, if I try to do the same thing, no matter if I have timeouts left, or not, the time does not stop.

Also, at times, the computer controls people on your team, they will purposely commit fouls to make you lose, or purposely run into a group and get tackled, instead of running straight and getting a touchdown.

This game is plagued with B.S. Coding and unfair game play, not to mention all of the other horrible programming. REALLY bad game.

Xbox and GameCube

Is it worth noting that this is both the last Xbox and GameCube game released in the United States? Articles for other last games such as Tonk Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on N64, and Wario's Woods on NES mention it. Theclaw1 02:19, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually is last for Xbox, not Gamecube see the Gamecube article. GD1223 (talk) 16:46, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Game Engine

Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Madden 08? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 14:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Platform POV Weakens Article

The POV of this article is clearly driven to consoles, with almost no mention of the PC platform characteristics.

Anyone who owned Madden 07 X360 and PC (as I do) would know there are stark differences between the two with the PC version boasting many more features than what the revamped '08 X360 game is advertised as offering.

The article should either list out the features of each platform, or be platform-neutral by not mentioning features at all.

RangerX3X, Monday July 2, 2007

I think as many features for all 3 consoles and the computer versions should be described in the article as possible. Personally, I'm interested in how the Wii's different control system will be implemented. But do understand, since this game has not been released yet, details specific to this edition and each of the four versions are difficult to come by. 128.2.168.29 02:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mac OS X?

This game does not exist for Mac OS X. I removed that platform from the article and it was replaced. It was then locked so that I could not remove that platform. I do not understand why this was done. Again, this game does not exist for Mac OS X. I have been in constant contact with representatives at both EA and Apple and they have confirmed this fact. If this game does appear in the future, it should be added at that point. I want Wikipedia to provide correct information. Users are getting false hopes due to this article. Mac OS X users, such as myself, see this article and attempt to buy the game to no avail. Please fix this. Feel free to email me any comments related to this topic, I want to become a knowedgable user and editor of Wikipedia. johndavidsharp@yahoo.com 128.223.201.223 17:31, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Layout

I can see why the 360/PS3 60/30 fps issue might interest people, but does it need to be the first thing mentioned? This page seems to follow a different format to all other Madden games and most other games John.n-irl 11:58, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release date

The Danish EA page for Madden (http://www.ea.dk/) lists the game as coming out on August 23 and August 30 for PS3. Is this the same for the rest of Europe? /AB-me (chit-chat) 13:55, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it has changed now /AB-me (chit-chat) 19:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All websites ie ign, gamestation, game are all saying its being released on the 31st now. Even the link provided says this. this is for europe, of course USA already have it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.72.249.86 (talk) 11:08:30, August 19, 2007 (UTC)

I took a picture...

I was bored at work and took this picture. If y'all want to use it, feel free, but I'm not sure it's really very useful. I thought that this picture was very cool. I have some pictures of my own that I am going to put up.

It's a cool image. Barring some litigious copy right law, I think we may possibly be able to use it in this article. --ShadowJester07Talk 03:22, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Video Reviews and Trailers

I found a good list of video reviews and trailers for Madden NFL 08 here. Can we add it to the exernal links section? --OopsToomer 01:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unnamed rookie

What is an unnamed rookie? --Morten LJ 08:20, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An unnamed rookie is a rookie whose first name is the initials that represent his position (for example, HB for halfback or RT for right tackle) and his last name is his jersey number. If you know the name of the unnamed rookies, you can always change his name to his actual name. --C4pt4in W1k1 —Preceding comment was added at 06:19, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glitch controversy

[1] Anyone want to add? - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:35, 21 September 2007 (UT

Madden 08 is hopelessly plagued by glitches. The game freezes often within the Franchise Mode rendering the entire game unplayable. For a discussion, see http: //www.easports.com/ - Madden 08 blogs - general discussion. EA sports should issue a general recall.

Yes, I noticed this as well, I had a great franchise going and all of a sudden during the loading screen boom, it froze up. I hadn't saved my franchise in over three games. My advice to this is at best, just save it as often and as soon as possible before doing anything that requires loading.

Unnamed Rookies

This section should be removed. It doesn't contribute anything to the article. Any objections? NyyDave 17:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it. I was never really for the section in the first place. --ShadowJester07Talk 22:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think adding the correct names here is beneficial. Remember this is an encyclopedia, and that information is not triviaTeerev (talk) 02:05, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Devin Hester?

Why isnt he mentioned more? Shouldnt he have his own headline? 100 sp rating is historic in madden. Chasesboys 22:43, 6 October 2007

I think the article mentions that various other athletes, including Hester, have attributes of 100. The detail is also mentioned in his own article. --ShadowJester07Talk 05:14, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesnt mention anything about anyone with 100 ratings in this article. Chasesboys 22:43, 7 October 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.255.110.248 (talk)

No one has EVER had an attribute of 100 EVER before. I have every Madden game for PS2 and NONE have. --Crash Underride 16:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
haha your a liar, there are so many, ladanian tomlinson 100 juke. Joe montana 100 accuracy. Devin hester 100 speed. Reggie bush 100 acceleration. earl campbell 100 trucking. Lorenzo neal 100 impack block. there is way more —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.107.4.1 (talk) 10:26, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updates

I think that there should a section or at least a part of the features that talks about the high quantity of glitches that madden fixes via patches. There have been two major changes updates that changed a number of things including: Franchise - Fixed bug where the FA pool would run out of certain positions Online Game Reporting- fixed a number of issues where games weren't being reported correctly or people weren't getting the right number of ranking points for a win. This will also make stats more accurate. EA SPORTS World- Accomplishment '20 consecutive completions' not awarded when completions ends up under 100%, Fumble Fix - Reduced fumble chances in certain situations. This has been tested thoroughly and we feel that people will be happy with a more realistic (and more fun!) number of fumbles. DB Reactions- changes to the way that DBs play man coverage. Defenders in man coverage won't be able to react to passes that they cannot see. This should make it easier to throw against man coverage. Favre "Moonwalk"- I love the names that you guys come up with for issues such as this one. You can rest assured that you won't see Farve (or any QB) dancing toward the sideline anymore. Hook Zone Flip Bug- I saw a post on a community forum talking about this bug and it turns out the fix was very minimal risk. You can now flip plays with hook zones without the players leaving their zones. Franchise - Fixed NCAA import issue where players would turn 26 Franchise - Fixed bug where HOF Unlocked players cannot be released in Franchise. This information was taken from the ea website and it was a written by a producer from ea. The link is http://www.easports.com/maddennfl/blogs.jsp

Announcers

This is the first time in a while that the announcers are not Al Michaels, and Madden. Should this be in the article that its like a radio call instead of Al and Madden? --HPJoker 01:25, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was like that in the 07 version. Kap2319 21:46, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Madden 08.jpg

Image:Madden 08.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Mike Hogan

I was scrolling through the free agent pool one day and couldn't help but notice that there is a 44-year-old rookie wide receiver named Mike Hogan. Can someone please explain who this is? --C4pt4in W1k1 —Preceding comment was added at 06:30, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah; I noticed that and was wondering it too. The only thing I can come up with is that it's someone who worked on the game, but I don't know for sure Jake (talk) 03:26, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FPS?

I found this line surprising, so I went to the "source" to read the source: "Madden 08 runs at 80 frames per second on the Xbox 360, and 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 3.[8] "

The "citation" is a bad link that connects to a junk page with adds etc. All the documentation I've read mentions a 60 fps rate on the 360. Not sure what the PS3 rate is but 30 fps seems awfully low. 64.2.128.35 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 22:11, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
