Dr. Bernard Nadler is one of the survivors of the tail section and is married to Rose. He is a dentist and is played by Sam Anderson in eleven episodes.

Edward Mars

Appearances: "Pilot: Part 1" (no dialogue) "Pilot: Part 2," "Tabula Rasa," "Exodus: Part 1," "Exodus: Part 2," "What Kate Did," "I Do", "Left Behind."

Cindy Chandler

Appearances: "Pilot: Part 1," "Pilot: Part 2," "Orientation" (no dialogue), "Everybody Hates Hugo," "…And Found," "Abandoned," "The Other 48 Days," "Stranger in a Strange Land", "The Brig."

Cindy Chandler (played by Kimberley Joseph) is an Australian Oceanic Airlines stewardess in a relationship with a Flight 815 passenger, the novelist Gary Troup. Cindy crashes with the tail-section survivors. Gary ends up on the beach and dies in the initial chaos.[2] She encounters Michael, Sawyer and Jin on day 45. Cindy is taken by the Others on day 48 during the journey to the fuselage survivors' camp.[3] She and the other kidnapped tail-section survivors are seen living comfortably with the Others on days 74 and 88.[4] Cindy was originally set to die in the pilot episode, however the producers enjoyed Joseph's portrayal and decided to bring back Cindy in the second and third seasons.[5]

Leslie Arzt

Appearances: "Born to Run," "Exodus: Part 1," "Exodus: Part 2" and "Exposé."

Dr. Leslie Arzt is an American ninth grade science teacher from New Jersey three times married.[6] On the island, he keeps a collection of native fauna in various jars, including a spider with venom capable of causing severe paralysis. He has apparently discovered a handful of new species on the island and claims he will be the next Charles Darwin. He complains about not being included in the various missions the likes of Jack and Locke go on, finally joining them on a trip to the Black Rock. He explodes there while handling dynamite on day 44. Daniel Roebuck portrays the character. Roebuck joined the cast as a guest star in late first season and rumours arose that he would be part of the main cast in the second season[7]; however, Arzt was killed off in the finale.[8] An unofficial action figure has been produced, with an included backstory for the character written by a Lost writer.[9]

Minor crash survivors

  • Emma and Zack are two sibling children from the tail section of the plane. After the crash, they were kidnapped by the Others, and have been seen living with the Others under the care of Cindy and the other kidnapped tail-section survivors. Kiersten Havelock and Mickey Graue act as the children in "The Other 48 Days," "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "The Brig."
  • Neil "Frogurt" is a frozen yogurt salesman. Sean Whalen portrays the character in the mobisode "The Adventures of Hurley and Frogurt" when he expressed his interest in Libby to Hurley. The creators of the show have said he is a character who will become "more interesting".[citation needed]
  • Seth Norris is the pilot of Oceanic Flight 815. Little is known about him except that he married his high-school sweetheart and that he replaced his friend Frank Lapidus as the pilot of the doomed flight. He is found by Jack and Kate in the plane's cockpit, where he tells them that the plane was over 1000 miles off course before they crashed; shortly after, he is killed by the Monster. Greg Grunberg portrays Norris in "Pilot: Part 1."

The Others

Tom

Portrayed by M. C. Gainey in sixteen episodes, Tom acts as a liaison to the crash survivors until they kidnap Jack, Kate and Sawyer. He is killed by Sawyer in the third season finale.

Alex

Portrayed by Tania Raymonde in eleven episodes, Alexandra "Alex" Rousseau/Linus is Rousseau's daughter who was kidnapped by the Others sixteen years prior to the crash of Flight 815. Alex aids the crash survivors in various escapes and eventually defects at the same time as Juliet and Karl. Throughout the third series, Alex and Karl are in a relationship, but Ben keeps them apart because she would die if she became pregnant.

Ethan Rom

Played by William Mapother in ten episodes, Dr. Ethan Rom lives among the fuselage survivors of Flight 815 during their initial days on the island. Before he is exposed as an Other, Ethan kidnaps Claire for her unborn child. If you re-arrange the letters in "Ethan Rom", you will have "Other Man".

Jacob

Jacob is the mysterious leader of the Others. With the exception of Ben, the Others have never met or not seen Jacob in years. Jacob lives in a shack without electricity. When Ben takes Locke to meet him on day 91, Locke cannot see Jacob – although he is staring at him – but he can hear Jacob say, "help me." In his split-second of camera-time, Jacob appears to be an expressionless middle-aged white male with long hair, the makings of a beard, and bland clothing much like the "Others" wear outside of the confines of their barracks. Jacob appears briefly in "The Man Behind the Curtain." Hurley is the only other passenger to have seen Jacob.

Richard Alpert

Appearances: "Not in Portland," "The Man from Tallahassee," "One of Us," "The Brig," "The Man Behind the Curtain," "Greatest Hits", "Through the Looking Glass"

Named after spiritual philosopher Ram Dass, Dr. Richard Alpert, played by Nestor Carbonell, is an influential Other who does not age. In the early 1970s, Richard – one of the original "Hostiles" (Others) – conspires with a young Ben to gas the Barracks and kill the Dharma Initiative, with the Others moving in.[14] Richard works as a recruiter for a front company for the Others, called Mittelos Bioscience. In September 2001, he recruits Juliet with the help of Ethan Rom.[15] Richard prefers not to take a position of power, but disputes several decisions by Ben. Carbonell has speculated that Richard is 400 years old and indigenous to the island.[16]

Mikhail Bakunin

Appearances: "The Cost of Living," "Enter 77," "Par Avion," "One of Us," "D.O.C.," "The Man Behind the Curtain", "Through The Looking Glass"

Named after the anarchist of the same name, Mikhail is a one-eyed member of the Others who lived in a Dharma Initiative station. Because he wears an eye-patch, he was referred to as "Patchy" by the crew before his name was revealed.[17] Mikhail was born in Kiev in present day Ukraine, which was part of the USSR at the time of his birth.[18] He worked as a medic in the Soviet Army and served in the Soviet war in Afghanistan. Later he carried military service on a listening station near Vladivostok. However, his military unit is decommissioned. He later replies to a newspaper advertisement and was recruited by Jacob, which eventually landed him on the island. He lives in the Flame, a communications station with a satellite transceiver, televisions and computers. After Flight 815 crashes, Mikhail compiles detailed files on each of the survivors. Sayid, Locke, Kate and Rousseau find him on day 77. They take him prisoner and he is apparently killed by the sonic fences that protect the Others' homes in the Barracks. However, an alive Mikhail reappears on day 87 to Desmond, Hurley, Charlie and Jin. He saves Naomi's life in exchange for being let free to return to the Others. On day 91, Mikhail finds the Others and is beaten up by Locke. Mikhail claims that the sonic fence was not set to a lethal level. Mikhail is sent by Ben, who calls Mikhail a "loyalist," to reinforce Greta and Bonnie at the Looking Glass station on day 92, who have encountered Charlie and Desmond. At Ben's request, Mikhail questions and kills Greta and Bonnie on day 93. Desmond appears and shoots Mikhail in the chest with a spear gun. Later, Mikhail explodes a hand grenade, which kills both himself and Charlie.[19] Andrew Divoff acts as Mikhail. Mikhail is set to return through flashbacks in a future episode.[20]

Danny Pickett

Appearances: "Three Minutes," "Live Together, Die Alone," "The Glass Ballerina," "Every Man for Himself," "The Cost Of Living," "I Do", "Not in Portland"

Pickett is a forceful and the most violent member of the Others who supervised the construction of an airstrip on the island where the Hydra station is located. He was married to another Other named Colleen until her death.[21] He monitors Kate and Sawyer when they are ordered to smash rocks on days 69, 70 and 72. His wife Colleen takes part in a raid upon Desmond's boat the Elizabeth on day 69, and is killed by Sun in the process. Enraged, Pickett takes all of his anger out on Sawyer, repeatedly beating him and threatening to kill him for days. He almost succeeds, however he is ordered to release Kate and Sawyer or else Ben will die at the hands of Jack. Pickett pursues Kate and Sawyer with Luke and Jason, but he is shot dead by Juliet. Juliet faces trial for the murder but escaped execution and was only branded as punishment. Michael Bowen appears as Pickett. Pickett may return through flashbacks in a future episode.[22]

Karl

Appearances: "A Tale of Two Cities," "Not in Portland," "Stranger in a Strange Land," "Greatest Hits," "Through The Looking Glass," "The Beginning of the End,", "Confirmed Dead"

A young Other, Karl is Alex's boyfriend. Worried that Karl would get Alex pregnant (which, due to the mysterious nature of the Island, would kill her), Ben cages Karl on day 68 and, after he escapes and is recaptured, is forced to watch a brainwashing film repeatedly. Alex, Sawyer and Kate rescue him on day 73, and he goes with Kate and Sawyer by canoe back to the main island. Sawyer lets him go free once they return. He lives in the forest until Alex tells him to go warn the crash survivors of the Others' upcoming raid on their camp on day 92. He reunites with Alex on day 93 and they join the survivors' group. Blake Bashoff plays Karl. "A Tale of Two Cities," "Not in Portland," "Stranger in a Strange Land," "Greatest Hits," "Through The Looking Glass," "The Beginning of the End," and "Confirmed Dead".

Minor Others

  • Aldo is an Other who stands guard outside the brainwashing cells. He was overpowered by Alex, Kate and Sawyer as they rescued Karl. Though the event hasn't been shown, it has been confirmed that Aldo is deceased[23]. Rob McElhenney plays Aldo in "Not in Portland".
  • Isabel serves as a 'sheriff' among the Others' hierarchy. She interrogates Jack about his motives for holding Ben hostage on the operating table, and also leads the trial for Juliet's execution later that day. Though the event hasn't been shown, it has been confirmed that Isabel is deceased[24]. Isabel is played by Diana Scarwid in "Stranger in a Strange Land".

Freighters

The following are from the mysterious freighter off the island.

Naomi Dorrit

Prior to arrival on island

Naomi was born in Manchester, England. She was recruited by Matthew Abaddon to lead a group of four people, Daniel Faraday, Charlotte Lewis, Miles Straume, and Frank Lapidus, on a mission to the island. Naomi is wary, convinced that the group is not suited for the job and is concerned about what to do if she encounters survivors of the Oceanic Flight 815 crash, implying that she doesn't believe that the actual plane was found. Abaddon tells her that "there are no survivors" and to just do as she is told.

After arrival on island

Naomi parachutes onto the island, but injures herself. She is discovered by Desmond, Hurley, Charlie, and Jin. Desmond examines her and she begins to mutter his name over and over. The next day, the four of them argue over what to do with her, when Hurley sets off a flare. Suddenly, Mikhail comes running out of the jungle. They manage to capture him, so he decides to help Naomi, whose lung is filling with blood, if they will let him go afterward. He fixes her, but when he leaves he tries to steal her phone. Hurley is watching over Naomi when she regains consciousness. He introduces himself as a survivor of Oceanic Flight 815. She tells him that's impossible because "they found the plane. There were no survivors. They were all dead."

Naomi is moved secretly to the survivors' camp. Because she still needs medical attention, the survivors debate whether to alert Jack to her presence. Desmond is against it because of Jack's relationship with Juliet, so Sayid is brought in. He questions Naomi, who tells him that she is working for Penny Widmore searching for Desmond. She tells him that the plane wreckage was found off the coast of Bali and that her boat is 80 miles away from the island. Sayid seems to doubt this, so she shows him her satellite phone, joking that she will not rescue him.

Later that night, Naomi's presence is revealed to the other survivors, who are outraged that the world believes them dead. After Juliet's betrayal is revealed, Jack shows up claiming he already knew about it and has a plan. The next day, as the survivors prepare to head to the radio tower, Naomi and Charlie bond over the fact they are both from Manchester. She also tells him that after his 'death' a greatest hits album was released in his honor.

As the group hikes toward the tower, Naomi approaches Jack and shows him how to program her phone, in case anything happens to her. The next day, Charlie is successful in unblocking the signal. The group arrives at the radio tower and after turning off Danielle Rousseau's message, she calls her boat. After Naomi gets a signal, she has a knife thrown into her back by Locke and collapses.

After Jack gets through to her boat, they notice Naomi has crawled away. Jack and Rousseau lead Ben to go find her. However, Naomi has laid a false trail and that's the trail they have been following. Kate picks up Naomi's real trail and gets ambushed by her. Naomi holds a knife to her throat and demands to know why she was attacked. Kate tells her that it was Locke who attacked her and that he is no longer part of their group. Naomi calls her boat and speaks to Minkowski. She covers for the survivors, telling Minkowski she injured herself when she parachuted onto the island. She reprograms her phone to help them get a better signal. She then succumbs to her wounds, telling Minkowski " tell my sister I love her".

Later the next day, Miles examines Naomi's body and, after "communicating" with her, declares she was indeed killed by Locke. Her body is then carried to Frank's helicopter.

Marsha Thomason portrays Naomi in Catch-22, D.O.C., The Brig, The Man Behind the Curtain, Greatest Hits, Through the Looking Glass, The Beginning of the End, Confirmed Dead, and The Economist.

George Minkowski

George Minkowski is a character positioned on the freighter off the island. When Jack makes the call on day 93, Minkowski answers and tells him the freighters are on their way. He then calls the survivors multiple times to reconfigure the phone. He speaks to Naomi just before she dies. His voice is portrayed by an uncredited actor in season 3 and by Fisher Stevens in season 4. Stevens voices Minkowski in The Beginning of the End and Confirmed Dead.

Frank Lapidus

Frank Lapidus is a pilot who brings Daniel, Miles, and Charlotte to the island. His father was born in the Bronx, and Frank claims to be a die hard Yankee fan. He worked for Oceanic and was supposed to be the pilot for Flight 815. He has an alcohol addiction. Jeff Fahey portrays Frank in "Confirmed Dead", "The Economist", "The Constant" and "Ji Yeon".

Regina

Regina is a woman on the freighter. She is contacted by Miles and Daniel and helps Daniel with an experiment by sending a rocket to the island. Zoë Bell provides the voice for Regina in "Confirmed Dead", "The Economist", and "Eggtown" and appears in the flesh in "Ji Yeon".

Island inhabitants and arrivals

The following are neither aboard Flight 815 nor members of The Others nor people on the freighter but arrived on the Island a different way.

Danielle Rousseau

Rousseau arrived on the island sixteen years before the crash of Flight 815 as part of a research party. She gave birth to a baby girl, Alex, though her child was stolen shortly after by the Others. Mira Furlan portrays Rousseau in thirteen episodes.

Anthony Cooper

Named after Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 1st Earl of Shaftesbury, the mentor of the philosopher John Locke,[25] Cooper is Locke's biological father and the man who conned Sawyer's parents, leading to both of their deaths. Cooper was unaware that he had a son (Locke) until Locke was born. Locke was given up for adoption. A couple of decades later, Cooper took the alias of Tom Sawyer and conned a woman, Mary Ford, into giving him a large amount of money. In response, Mary's husband killed her and himself. Their son James retained a grudge against Cooper, later taking the name Sawyer for himself. In his older years, Cooper's kidneys fail, and he needs a transplant. Locke's mother, Emily comes back asking for money once again, and Cooper agrees to help her if she finds Locke for him. Cooper bonds with Locke, before conning him out of a kidney. This scars Locke for life and Locke begins stalking his father. Later, Cooper cons two men out of $700,000. Afraid that they might kill him, Cooper fakes his death, then enlists Locke's help to get the money from a safe deposit box. Locke, who swore to his girlfriend Helen that he had stopped going to see his father, lost Helen as a result of this. Sometime later, Cooper begins another con with a woman, Ms. Talbot. Locke, having been visited by her son, confronts Cooper, and tells him to stop conning others. Cooper kills her son and pushes Locke out a window to fall eight stories and break his back, causing Locke's paraplegia. Cooper then disappears, presumably to Mexico. Soon after the crash of Flight 815, Cooper has a car accident in Tallahassee and is taken and imprisoned on the island. Cooper believes that he is in Hell and after Ben reveals that they have Cooper in captivity, Locke takes him to the Black Rock. His true identity is revealed to Sawyer, who then kills him. Kevin Tighe plays Cooper in "Deus Ex Machina," "Orientation," "Lockdown," "The Man from Tallahassee" and "The Brig." Tighe was nominated for a 2007 Los Angeles Times GoldDerby TV Award in the category of "Drama Guest Actor," however he lost to George Dzundza of Grey’s Anatomy.[26]

Aaron Littleton

Appearances: "Do No Harm," "The Greater Good," "Born to Run," "Exodus: Part 1," "Exodus: Part 2," "Adrift," "Everybody Hates Hugo," "Abandoned," "What Kate Did," "The 23rd Psalm," "The Hunting Party," "Fire + Water," "The Long Con," "Maternity Leave," "Lockdown," "S.O.S.," "Three Minutes," "Live Together, Die Alone," "Further Instructions," "Every Man for Himself," "Flashes Before Your Eyes," "Par Avion," "Exposé," "Left Behind," "One of Us," "Greatest Hits", "Through the Looking Glass", "The Beginning of the End", "Confirmed Dead", "Eggtown".

Aaron Littleton is the son of Claire and her boyfriend Thomas.[27] A psychic named Richard Malkin warns Claire that if she gives the baby to someone else to be raised by, bad things will happen to it. He later suddenly changes his mind and tells Claire to let an American couple in Los Angeles, CA adopt her baby. On the island, Claire is captured by the Others, who try to steal her unborn child.[28] Claire later escapes and gives birth to Aaron on November 2, 2004. [29] Aaron is kidnapped by Rousseau two days after his birth in an attempt to exchange Aaron for her daughter Alex, who was kidnapped by the Others from her sixteen years prior.[30] Charlie and Sayid go to rescue him and succeed. Charlie later has dreams that Aaron will soon be in danger and forcibly takes Aaron to the ocean to be baptized. While Claire temporarily disallows Charlie from being with Aaron, she gets Mr. Eko to baptize Aaron on day 56.[31] On day 92, Desmond prophesies that Claire and Aaron will be rescued from the island via helicopter.[32] Sometime in the future, Aaron leaves the island, presumably with the Oceanic Six, and is being raised by Kate under unknown circumstances. Over fifty male and female blonde-haired, blue-eyed babies have acted as Aaron throughout the first three seasons.[33]

Dharma Initiative members

  • A former arms salesman and manufacturer, Alvar Hanso is the enigmatic Danish leader of the Hanso Foundation. Ian Patrick Williams plays Hanso in the Lost Experience. Hanso can be seen in the show via an orientation film in "Orientation."
  • In the early 1990s, Kelvin Joe Inman is an intelligence operative for the United States government, and responsible for making Sayid torture his former commander. Later, Kelvin joins the Dharma Initiative, and operates the Swan station until Desmond accidentally kills him. Clancy Brown appears as Kelvin in "One of Them" and "Live Together, Die Alone."
  • Annie was a girl who befriended Ben Linus when they were both young and living in the Dharma Initiative during its heyday. She is seen in The Man Behind the Curtain. It is unknown what happened to her, whether she died in the purge of the original DHARMA inhabitants or she had left the island but it is possible that she could become an important character in future episodes.

Off-island characters

Christian Shephard

John Terry appears in ten episodes as Dr. Christian Shephard, Jack and Claire's father who died before the crash.

Sarah Shephard

Sarah is Jack's ex-wife. Eight months before her wedding to her first fiancé, Kevin, she is involved in a car crash with an SUV driven by Adam Rutherford (Shannon's father and Boone's step-father). When Jack informs Kevin that Sarah may never be able to walk again, Kevin leaves her. Sarah's back is broken, and her doctor, Jack, informs her that she will never walk again, however she does. They fall in love and marry, but some time later, Sarah has an affair and divorces Jack. Sometime after the crash survivors are rescued, Sarah is pregnant. Julie Bowen portrays Sarah in "Do No Harm," "Man of Science, Man of Faith," "The Hunting Party," "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Through the Looking Glass."

Penny Widmore

Penelope "Penny" Widmore is the great love of Desmond, and his girlfriend before he was separated from her by her domineering and extremely wealthy father Charles. Desmond is shipwrecked on the island while trying to win a race to prove his worth to her father and get her back. Penny is searching for the island, with two Portuguese men stationed at a polar research station. On day 93, Penny transmits a message to the Looking Glass Hatch, which Charlie receives, and she informs him that Naomi was not sent by her. Sonya Walger plays Penny[36] in "Live Together, Die Alone," "Flashes Before Your Eyes," "Catch-22" and "Through the Looking Glass." Carlton Cuse has stated that "Penny is an important character in the overarching mythology of the show."[37]

Jae Lee

Jae Lee is the wealthy son of the owner of the Seoul Gateway Hotel and the hotel's general manager. He attended Harvard University and studied Medieval Russian Literature. He meets Sun on a family-arranged date. He teaches Sun English at her request, and ends up having an affair with her. He asks her to leave for America with him. Sun's father finds out about the affair. Instead of telling Jin about it, Sun's father tells Jin that Jae is stealing from him. He orders Jin to kill Jae. Jin beats up Jae, but tells him to leave the country and never return instead of killing him. Jae subsequently commits suicide by jumping from his apartment.[21] Tony Lee acts as Jae in "…And Found," "The Whole Truth" and "The Glass Ballerina."

Yemi

Yemi is the younger brother of Mr. Eko. When they were young, the village of Yemi and Eko was invaded by guerrillas who command Yemi to shoot an old man. Eko saves him from doing this task by shooting the man himself. The men sense the potential for ruthlessness in Eko and take him with them when they leave, leaving Yemi behind. Yemi later becomes a priest and works to improve the lives of his parishioners. For example, he makes arrangements to procure vaccines twice a year for the village; thugs take 80% of the vaccines in exchange for offering "protection" to the village, but villagers acknowledge that without Yemi's efforts they would have no vaccines at all. He plans on moving to London to continue his education. The week before Yemi is scheduled to leave for London, Eko pays him a visit. Eko needs to transport heroin out of the country and wants to use the missionary planes of the church. Yemi initially refuses, but gives in when Eko warns him that his partners will burn down the church if Yemi does not cooperate. Yemi reluctantly signs papers to give Eko and his men the authority of priests. Yemi dies trying to stop Eko and the men from leaving; he is shot by gunfire from the army as the plane with the heroin begins to take off. He later appears as a vision to Locke and Eko on day 64, and he leads them to the Pearl station. The "monster" also takes his form (and was possibly the "vision" Yemi in the first place) and kills Mr. Eko on day 72. Adetokumboh M'Cormack acts as Yemi in "The 23rd Psalm," "?" and "The Cost of Living."

Cassidy Phillips

Cassidy Phillips was a recently divorced woman whom Sawyer conned. Despite being in love with her, Sawyer stole her money (admittedly, after a threat from his partner). Cassidy then went to Iowa and tried to con people using the techniques she had been taught, and met Kate. Cassidy later reported Sawyer to the police and as a result, he was thrown in jail. While Sawyer was in prison, Cassidy visited him and showed him a picture of a baby girl named Clementine, who she said was his daughter. Kim Dickens appears as Cassidy in "The Long Con," "Every Man for Himself" and "Left Behind."

Matthew Abaddon

Matthew Abaddon is a fierce and ruthless corporate recruiter who appears intimidating. Abaddon first appears in the flash forward in "The Beginning of the End." He visits Hurley in the mental hospital, initially claiming to be a lawyer for Oceanic Airlines, and offers to "upgrade" Hurley to a nicer hospital. Hurley becomes suspicious when Abaddon does not have a business card, making it unlikely that he is really associated with Oceanic Airlines. Abaddon then asks him, "Are they still alive?" He abruptly leaves when Hurley becomes agitated. He returns in a flashback talking to Naomi about the crew he has assembled for her in "Confirmed Dead." He appears to be in charge of the freighter's operations on the Island and recruited all the people on Naomi's freighter, including Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, and Frank. He and Naomi also seem to imply that they are either not convinced by the finding of Oceanic 815 or they themselves planted the fake plane. He is portrayed by Lance Reddick.

Recurring off-island characters

Adam Rutherford (2x1, 2x6) was the father of Shannon and Boone. After a head-on collision with Sarah Shephard, he was brought to the hospital. The doctor, Jack chose to save Sarah, which resulted in Rutherford's death.
Margo Shephard (1x5) was Jack's mother and Christian's wife. By making Jack feel guilty, she convinced him to go to Australia to find Christian. Christian tells Jack that marrying Margo was the wrong choice. Portrayed by Veronica Hamel.
Marc Silverman (1x5, 1x20) was Jack's best friend since childhood and the best man at Jack and Sarah's wedding.
Ms. Hawking (3x8, 3x17) works at the store where Desmond goes to buy an engagement ring for Penny during his flashback/dream after he turned the fail-safe key. She is upset when Desmond immediately chooses a ring and takes him on a walk, explaining to him what "must happen." Her last words to Desmond are that pressing the button is the only great thing he will ever do in his life. She also appeared in a photo on the desk of Brother Campbell.
Charles Widmore (2x23, 3x8) is the wealthy father of Desmond's girlfriend, Penny Widmore. When Desmond tells him he wants to marry Penny, Charles declines his permission, as he disapproves of their relationship. To regain his honor, Desmond participates in a sailing race that Charles sponsors and crashes onto the island.
Sam Austen (2x9, 2x14) is Kate's father and Sayid's captor.
