::::I didn't call it vandalism. I listed four types of edits that are regularly removed from Jimbo's talk page by other editors: "Vandalism. Silliness. Spam. BLP violations." That's more or less, from my observation, the order of frequency of removals. And I can assure you if you were to post that on my talk page, I would consider it spam. SSP

On your SSP report, granted they are not new users and edit sequentially, but where's this disruption/vio of WP:SOCK, aside from that? RlevseTalk 01:42, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would have been voter fraud. And just as an update — I filed for checkuser and all three of the accounts MaidService (talk · contribs), ThaCleaningLady (talk · contribs), and BombBuilder (talk · contribs) were confirmed as well as three other accounts as stated at the checkuser page. All were blocked. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 21:40, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Huckabee user box

There might be some who point out that it's inappropriate to advocate for particular candidates on your user page. Just thought you should know. ++Lar: t/c 01:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you should check out this page, and take a look at 'What Links Here' for a given userbox. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 20:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, there certainly seem to be a lot of those. Take care. By the way, the "talk" link in your sig I think takes one to your user page rather than to user talk. Dunno if that's what you intended. ++Lar: t/c 20:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Just The Facts Ma'am...

Hello Diligent...

Adding well documented statements of fact that directly contradict a candidates own current "Official Position" is healthy in a free and open forum like wikipedia. Like with others who are critical, I don't see you being critical of editors who only make reference to un-encyclopedic sources such as a candidate own controlled web page or an un-referenced list of "official positions". According to your reasoning, the political positions section of each candidates page might as well be a direct link to their own web site or positions list from their own hard drive.

As for me I will continue to promote wikipedia as a free medium where by the lobbyests and special interests do not have a corrupting advantage over the rest of us. This is not in violation of any wiki rules and is in fact extactly what we are supposed to be encouraging in this free and open forum where the well referenced facts rule. As for you... Just the facts Ma'am Anappealtoheaven (talk) 16:59, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So you know, I too have tried to speak to him about his obvious POV editing, and he left me exactly the same message, with the same implied gender-based insults. I am considering preparing a WP:AN/I report about his behaviors. thoughts? ThuranX (talk) 17:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please show me an example of my POV editing. The only thing I really added to that article was that he (Mike Huckabee) supports the border wall (which he does). And sorry it's a fence not a wall. But that's not POV at all. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 17:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry I thought you were talking about me doing the POV edits. Sorry I got defensive. Yes, I think a WP:ANI would be a good plan. Not sure if that's where we should report it there or somewhere else. They are very obvious POV edits and maybe he should just be blocked. The comment he left you & me is also rude and uncivil. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 17:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Was the Mike Huckabee article the only place he was editing with a POV? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 17:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:COIN might be a better place to report this. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 17:40, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
COIN's a good suggestion. No, he's also edited to take cheap shots at McCain, Romney... anyone NOT Ron Paul. I'll work on the report and let you knwo when I post it, so you can add any opinions or facts you also feel are relevant. ThuranX (talk) 17:48, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'd appreciate that. Maybe should also notify the others who have posted similar comments before us on his talk page warning him of his POV edits. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 17:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
NO, I think that might come off as CANVASsing, whereas you and I are the most current situation. I'll mention previous notices in the report. ThuranX (talk) 18:07, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We could get him blocked temporarily for violation of the Three Revert Rule. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 18:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how, I don't see it in his edit history, but I may be missing something... diffs? I'll look here for your reply. ThuranX (talk) 18:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The report is up on AN/I. read it through, follow the links, and then ,if needed , comment. your warning and the reply are already noted, as are the Huckabee edits, so Idoubt much more is needed, but please review. ThuranX (talk) 18:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your support at AN/I would be welcome on this matter. ThuranX (talk) 23:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, he was blocked before you posted to the AN/I. As far as I know, he served his block out, didn't appeal it, and I have no interest in checking up on him and his edits. Should I cross paths with him again, I'll worry about him then. I'm not in the habit of seeing what's up with users once the situation's been resolved, except for a couple of sock puppeteers I know about. ThuranX (talk) 22:27, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

Regarding your merge proposal for Hillary Rodham Clinton awards and honors, ordinarily I would agree, but have you looked at how long Hillary Rodham Clinton is? We don't need to add anything back into there, that's why so many subarticles have already been split out of it. Wasted Time R (talk) 21:38, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

I have noticed your signature on Talk:Cat and I find it a bit inappropriate because of its size and colors. Customizing your signature is permitted, but it must not be disruptive or annoying. I thing you should review Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing_your_signature to determine the appropriate thing to do with your signature. Thanks. Canjth (talk) 01:28, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's disruptive or annoying. It's just that it's used a lot there so it may seem that way. I don't see what's wrong with it. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 19:23, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DilligentTerrier. I assume this edit was accidental? I've reverted it for you. Best, Gwernol 22:18, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you undo my undo on the talk page archive? I was fixing my mistake. I didn't pay attention to the header when I responded to the userbox cmt. BTW, nice userbox, I don't think two will hurt though. Do you? Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:27, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, now I see. Hey what happened...you only recruited one user? Also, Can't help but wondering, but are you friends with RC-0722, jj137, Enigmaman, and ElisaEXPLOSiON? All of you seem to be in a very close network, talking about school & stuff. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:46, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the one user, I got distracted. RC and me used to live in the same neighborhood, Enigma is my adoptee, and JJ and Elisa have become wikifriends. Anyway, time to get back to recruiting! Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:16, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now I see. WikiFriends...what's that? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:18, 22 February 2008 (UTC) [reply]

A word that just popped in my head to describe it. Basically just people you know or meet on wikipedia. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:22, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. What about Milk's Favorite Cookie? And why did Elisa say, "I wish you still live here." DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I met Milk's Favorite Cookie through Jj137. Elisa lives in Dayton, OH. I used to live there, per my userpage. Now I live in Philly. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:30, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry...just had to get it all straightened out. And that explained why you are a fan of that Ohio baseball team. Mystery solved. Now I'm happpy :) ... I'll let you get back to recruiting. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:32, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right back at ya ! After a short celebration for hitting my 1,000th edit, I got back to recruiting. BTW, I'm not homeschooled anymore. The only reason is athletics (once again, per userpage). Anyway, thanks again for the smile. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:43, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well I have 1830 (1831 counting this one) edits...beat that ! Are you trying to challenge me to an edit race (not to be confused with an edit war.) DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:47, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:WikiProject Homeschooling

Yeah, I guess it does. I'll see what I can do about recruiting. RC-0722 communicator/kills 23:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Burner said he's going to get the Homeschoolers...maybe you could get the Alternative Education project members. There are templates (as you probably know) I have posted on the project's talk page. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:26, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just figured out you guys know each other. Are you homeschoolers? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:29, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I already started getting the alternate education members. Um, I'm not homeschooled anymore (unfortunately); I go to a catholic school (BTW, I'm not catholic) in Connecticut. RC-0722 communicator/kills 23:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well...it was nice meeting you, and thanks for joining the WikiProject! I'm starting to learn that there are actually a lot of other homeschoolers on Wikipedia. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:47, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, if you need any help, let me know. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 02:58, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Help with what — homeschooling? Hey, can I count on you guys to finish off the WikiProject recruiting? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 20:00, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I meant with the wikiproject. Yeah, we'll finish the recruiting. BTW, I signed your autograph book. Thanks for the barnstar . Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 21:11, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, thanks for signing my autograph book. Hey, take a look back at the project page and see the new "news" column on the sidebar. Like it? Did you did my reply above (about the edit war...) I was actually trying to keep all your comments in one section & RC's in another, but that didn't work. I seriously think WikiMedia should come up with a better way than this for communication, but I guess it's probably to late for that. Oh well. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 21:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oops... sorry :). No I haven't seen the "news" colum yet, I'll take a look. BTW, Thanks for joining my wikiproject. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 21:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Did you take a look at the page? Thanks for doing the recruiting. Next, I think we should invite the WikiProject Education members. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Sorry it took so long to work respond. I just created another wikiproject. I'll put a link on my userpage in a just a few seconds :). Good idea (about WP:education members). Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I thought it was a good idea. I'd be willing to create another template for WP Education members, provided the you and/or RC can do some recruiting. Could you guys do that? But we should probably finish up the other recruiting first. Not sure how far along you all are with that. Oh...and you're sorry what took so long to work? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:26, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Check above comment. Yeah, we can take care of that. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:31, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! If you know anyone interested the teams, would you invite them? Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:36, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess. Hey, are you a Gator fan? Noticed you were editing Tebow's page. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm Ohio State so not really :D, but I do like Tebow. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:42, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, I didn't think of you being Ohio State. That means you lost twice to us. (b-ball & football — well you probably know) But you lived in Tampa ... how come you don't like the Gators? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually come to think, I guess I do like the Gators now that the pain of those losses is wearing off. lol. That and I have family there. Still going by where I was born though. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 22:49, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, is your family in Tampa, too? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 22:49, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, no most are back in Dayton/Cincinnati still. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:00, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, so I take it you went from Dayton/Cincinnati to Tampa and then to Phily? DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 23:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Dayton/Cincinnati to Detroit to Tampa and now Philly. Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 23:04, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect from WP:HOME

Why would someone typing in "WP:Home" be looking for homeschooling? Wouldn't they logically be looking for information related to a home? - Dan Dank55 (talk) 17:20, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No they would be looking for Homeschooling because that is the shortcut that is mentioned on the Homeschooling project page. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 18:01, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
First...nice work on your wikiproject. Wikiprojects are a sometimes thankless and always bold thing to do...best of luck.
>It says on the Homeschooling project page that WP:HOME is a shortcut.
Right...that would be because you wrote that a couple of minutes before, not because "WP:HOME" was already taken and referred to your wikiproject. Early this month, I redirected WP:HOME and WP:Home to Category:Home automation, intending to change the redirection to whatever Wikiproject or guideline is most relevant to both "homes" and "wikipedia", because it wasn't clear yet, and I've been asking around a lot, trying to get the answer to that question. It's true that "getting there first" is not the only factor in deciding where a word should redirect, but it's one factor, the other one being the likelihood that someone is actually looking for what you're redirecting to. From what I've read so far, my guess is WP:Semapedia would be most appropriate for the redirect, and I'll go ask them if they agree. If your goal is to provide something shorter to type than "homeschooling" to get to your Wikiproject, that makes sense to me, and you've already created other shortcuts to do just that, shortcuts that seem to be more logical abbreviations of "homeschooling" than WP:HOME. I originally made the redirect because a variety of projects, including Semapedia, are gearing up fast to make connections between the real world and Wikipedia, and I think it's likely that people typing in WP:HOME several months from now will be looking for one or more of them, not for help with homeschooling.
If you still disagree, then let's take this to WP:Third opinion. - Dan Dank55 (talk) 18:59, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I understand. Let me know if you're ever interested in joining the WikiProject. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 19:04, 22 February 2008 (UTC) [reply]

And by the way, WikiProjects are not for help with homeschooling, they are to improve articles related to it. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 19:04, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thanks, and the distinction is understood. I'll add your wikiproject to my watchlist but I won't join at the moment, I've got a lot on my plate! - Dan Dank55 (talk) 19:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I was actually going to create WP:HS, but that was already taken. Oh well, I guess it was have to be Wikipiedia:Homeschooling. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 19:27, 22 February 2008 (UTC) [reply]

WP:HOME

[Copied from Dank55's talk page] I really don't think i'm the best person to ask - you may wish to bring up the question on the Village Pump. And when I posted that question, WP:Semapedia was an article, not a project page. —Random832 19:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm still kind of wondering what WP:HOME has to do with Semapedia. Considering that Template:User home is used for homeschoolers, WikiProject Homeschooling may be the most related project page to WP:HOME. DiligentTerriertalk |sign here 21:34, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm on it, I was talking with Wikimedia folks today. There are a number of projects being talked about, some will be discussed at Wikimania, that make connections between the real world and Wikipedia. There's actually a reason why "home" is so important...it's because everyone is in favor of having convenient tech in their own home, but people start to get nervous when other people start to use new technology...so we have to focus on uses in the home to get people interested. I hope to have a specific project for you to look at and a better answer than that in a day or two. - Dan Dank55 (talk) 22:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to admit I still don't really understand what you're saying, but in the meantime I think the redirect to the homeschooling project makes a lot more sense that redirecting it to the Semapedia, which doesn't have anything to do with "home" at all. Paulinho28

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I was taking a look at Paulinho28's talk page, and it looks as though he gave himself a barnstar that is attributed to you. If that's the case, I thought you should know. — Myasuda (talk) 02:34, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, and after he added the barnstar, he proceeded to remove his signature from my autograph page. Why? I don't know. I guess maybe he just wanted the barnstar for signing the page, but didn't want to keep his signature there. He also copied my NavBar design, and forgot to change some of the links on it, which is when I surprisingly found that I was taken to my userpage when clicking the links at his userpage. I told him about the problem on his talk page, and he immediately removed the images in the NavBar, and blanked his talk page without ever responding to me. Wikiproject homeschooling

OK, where do you want us to start? RC-0722 communicator/kills 00:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I want you guys to first finish off the categories that weren't completed (Homeschoolers, Interested Homeschooolers, and WikiProject Alternative Education members). After that, we need to get the WikiProject Education members. Maybe you and Burner0718 can figure out who will get what?

Signature size

What is wrong with my signature size? Is the code too long or is the signature too tall? -- 224jeff6 TALK2ME 22:35, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The height of my signature is EXACTLY the same hieght as your signature. 224jeff6 TALK2ME 22:38, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I saw on your page that somebody else had a concern with the size and color of your signature, and you didn't change yours. A bit hippicritical, don't ya think? -- 224jeff6 TALK2ME 22:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, just like my buddy jeffy said above, your signiture is violating the policy. You are cleary not allowed to have a link to an autographs page on your sig. So just checking in to see if my signiture is right. Cheers? -- Carerra"[[User talk:Carerra|Chatter" 23:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did change mine after that user left a message on my talk page and I took the images off, and no, Jeff's signature size is much taller than mine is (Jeff's is 5 pixels and mine is 2 pixels). It says nowhere in the signature policy page that you cannot have a link to your autograph page. It only says that if you do link to your autograph page, you should not use a super font size (like the size of Jeff's signature). Yeah, and I noticed Carrera changed his signature to make it smaller just before he replied here, so it would look like it was never big. Like I'm that stupid. DiligentTerrier and friends 16:44, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I changed my signiture so that I met the guildlines. I did it as fast as I could and then came to you to see if I was correct. I know that my sig was just a huge red blotch and so does everybody else. Sorry about saying yours was wrong and pardon my friend jeff. He's still a little new! -- Carerra"Chatter" 18:57, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's ok. Can we be friends now? (If the answer is yes, please sign my autograph page and tell Jeff to change his signature). DiligentTerrier and friends 18:59, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course we can. I like your username by the way. I signed your autograph page. I will tell jeff now but he might have already! -- Carerra"Chatter" 19:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just one small problem, Diligent Terrier. You said that another editor's signature didn't conform to the guideline Wikipedia:Signature, but ironically you seem to be ignoring the fact that your own signature, at 452 characters in length excluding the datestamp, is far beyond the injunction in that guideline to "Keep signatures short, both in display and markup." Indeed many of your comments are mostly signature! Would you please give this matter some attention? --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 19:06, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It never specifically states the exact length that signatures should be. But it does say the height that they should be, which is why I corrected Carrera and Jeff. DiligentTerrier and friends 19:18, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you contend that a 452 character signature is acceptable? --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 19:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Keep in mind that most of the code for my signature is for multi-colors and stuff, which does not make it any longer. It really doesn't matter what the signature looks like in the source; what matters is how it looks on the page. In that case, your signature is much longer. DiligentTerrier and friends 20:17, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but all of the code in your signature makes it longer. For instance, while I'm trying to edit this discussion and respond to your comment, I have to search a very large mess of formatting to try to find, hidden somewhere inside, the words of the comment to which I'm trying to respond. This is why our guideline says both in display and markup.
It doesn't do to clutter up the page with unnecessary markup. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 20:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well. Have a nice day! DiligentTerrier and friends 20:32, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain this edit on my talk page, please? --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 20:33, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, maybe you can explain this edit on my talk page where you edited my comment. DiligentTerrier and friends 20:43, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You've misread the edit. I didn't alter your comment; rather I quoted it verbatim, including a 450-character signature, in a format that would show what appears in my edit box when I reply to your comments. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 20:45, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but you are wrong again. Adding html tags around others' edits which affect their comments is considered refactoring their comments because it changes how they look. But whatever, I have changed my signature, and you can go away now. DiligentTerrier and friends 20:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't add markup around your comments, I quoted your comments within markup. Thanks for being considerate about your signature, that's a huge improvement. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 21:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you did! You added <nowiki> tags around my comments which affected the formatting. (diff) DiligentTerrier and friends 00:42, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you've missed the point, somehow. Never mind. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 12:35, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

January 20, 2009

Although your edit note correctly states "Although we cannot predict it when he will actually leave office, we know that his term expires in 2009 according to U.S. law," that is not what you have been editing this article to say. You have been editing this article to state as fact that George Bush will leave office on January 20. This is a remarkably silly thing to get into an edit war over. --Orlady (talk) 19:08, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops...sorry! I didn't notice that. I thought I was reverting it to say the term expires on January 20, 2008. DiligentTerrier and friends 19:14, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad it was just a misunderstanding. When the edits come fast and furious, it can be hard to keep up... --Orlady (talk) 19:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't delete a comment, you edited one of my comments. That was a standard message, so that is why it said that. DiligentTerrier and friends 22:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. Which one? -- 224JEFF6 SAY SOMETHIN' KID! 00:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right here (diff) where you pasted your signature inside my comment! A general rule with Wikipedia talk pages is that you never mess with people's talk page comments. Even if it's your own talk page, that does not give you a right to experiment with other user's comments. DiligentTerrier and friends 00:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that? That was where I compared the heights of our signatures. I see how my sig was taller than yours. Mine started below yours, because I had a lowercase "j" in my sig. Well, I changed my sig now, so we can get on with everything. -- 224JEFF6 SAY SOMETHIN' KID! 19:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wait. I'm not supposed to mess with other people's talk page comments, OK. But even if they are on my page? -- 224JEFF6 SAY SOMETHIN' KID! 19:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The general rules for talk pages are:

  • a) Never mess with other people's comments even if they are on your own page.
  • b) You may move comments on any talk page to another section in that same page, as long as there is a good reason behind why you are moving them to another section in that page. If you do this you must move the comment(s) in their entirety without adding or taking away from them.
  • c) You may only completely remove comments if it is your own talk page. In that case you must remove them in their entirety.

Hope these help. DiligentTerrier and friends 20:32, 3 March 2008 (UTC) [reply]

No, I am talking about this comment, which is a personal attack. Although it is in the third person, it is obvious you are referring to me. It seems like you have gotten a little nicer, so I will let you off on this one without reporting you. This here is actually incorrect; users can remove information from their talk pages even if they're anonymous. Especially in this instance when his IP is static. He is also a very experienced former account holder whom has had many welcome messages :-) - I hope this clears up any confusion, friend! Take care! That only holds true for registered users. Then why would there be template messages designed to tell IP users to not remove messages from their talk pages? DiligentTerrier and friends 21:15, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"...only holds true for registered users." - Now it's your turn to show me! :-) - This is fun... Bottom line is: no one has challenged this before. Why do you do so now? Libsey has many admin friends whom know policy better than you and I but they have no problem with it... ScarianCall me Pat 21:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My concern is just that if we let one user do it, we will probably have to eventually overturn the entire policy. DiligentTerrier and friends 21:27, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:DTTR

Diligent Terrier, I can appreciate that the information you want to post on Jimbo's page is important to you. First, you need to be aware that many editors patrol that page and regularly revert information from it - several times a day.

Secondly, the threaded discussion happening on that page right now is very important to the project. Have you even read it?

And most importantly - the editor you have templated has been at Wikipedia for a long time. He has returned from a self-imposed exile to defend Jimbo Wales, a man with whom he has had serious differences in the past. That requires a great deal of moral fibre. Don't template the regulars is an important philosophy - it means talk it out. If you have a problem with Giano, bring it up with him directly. Risker (talk) 21:14, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, well that still doesn't mean he has the right to remove message from someone else's talk page. Just because they are a certain type of user with a whole bunch of edits or whatever it is doesn't make it right. DiligentTerrier and friends 21:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do not spam my page again with your ridiculous warnings! Giano (talk) 21:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

Well, the last time I checked, you actually are not allowed to randomly remove notices from other user's talk pages. DiligentTerrier and friends 21:28, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Diligent Terrier, it is also inappropriate for you to add a heading above someone's post on your talk page. I have moved Giano's comment back where it was. You can delete his comment to you if you want, but you don't get to characterize it differently than as he wrote it.

Tell me, DT, why are you posting about that wikiproject on Jimbo's page? Do you believe he's jumping at the opportunity to participate? Of course not, you are doing it for the advertising value of doing so. Well, those kinds of edits are frequently reverted from Jimbo's talk page, which is the one user talk page on Wikipedia where longterm editors regularly remove things. Vandalism. Silliness. Spam. BLP violations. They also address a lot of the issues brought there. Jimbo's page is more a public message board than a talk page, as you well know. Risker (talk) 21:38, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! You are going to accuse me of vandalism for inviting a fellow Wikipedian to a WikiProject? DiligentTerrier and friends 21:40, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well actually, I was thinking more of spam. I don't think it's vandalism. Risker (talk) 21:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well then why did you call it vandalism? And something is only spam when it is added to an article. Sorry, but a invitation to a WikiProject on a fellow Wikipedian's talk page does not count as spam. DiligentTerrier and friends 21:44, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't call it vandalism. Risker (talk) 21:48, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
