Welcome to my User Page !

Languages:

My mother toung is German and I was also born in Germany, in Bavaria, to be more exact. My second language was English and thereafter Afrikaans (as third language). I also understand Dutch, Flemish, Frisian, Alemannic (Alemannisch), Luxembourgish, Romansh and the 'new' language Pennsylvania German (Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch) - which I only found out about in Wikipedia (and various other dialects), just the grammar - speech and writing, would still be giving me some problems. I also understand some Swedish, Finnish and Danish. Further more I am also interested in Italian - and maybe also in Latin and French. I live in Pretoria/South Africa since 1973.

Machine Translations

I am also interested in and follow various methods of machine translations.
For people interested please also see:

Wikipedia:

I am still a Greenhorn - regarding Wikipedia, and still miss a proper WYSIWYG-Editor (expecially for Tables)! Is there no way to convert tables from a Spreadsheet (MS Excel or OpenOffice.org Calc) or transfer/import them? (Or is the motto: "Why do it simple when it is possible to do it complicated!" ?)

Profession:

My professions are quite numerous, and reach from Elektronics/Electrotechniques (Industrial Electronics/Digital Electronics) - which would be called Infotronics thesedays / (Test Equipment Design, Computer (Hardware and Software Support/Consulting), Software Development, over Informatics/EDP/Electronic Data Processing, Database Administrator into the World of Environmental Health/Environmental Medicine and Complementary Medicine/Alternative Medicine, where I work since 1993.

Interests:

My interests are far spread and as follows (not necessary in this qequence of priority): Music/Classical Music/Baroque Music/Sacred Music, Renewable Energy, Energy Saving, Photography (analogue and digital) and also digital Video Recordings and digital Video Editing - and last not least Languages (Foreign Languages and Dialects)!
