In a fair sized port town Luffy runs into the pirate thief Nami, who quickly gets Luffy and Zoro into a big mess. That mess being the badside of the port occupying pirate Buggy the Clown. The ensuing conflict becomes desirable to the heroes once they find out that Buggy has a map to the Grand Line's entrance. With the aid of the troublesome Nami, the group hopes to secure the map as well as free the port town from Buggy's grasp.

Luffy faces off against the pirate captain Buggy the clown in a duel of Devil Fruit users over a map to the Grand Line. Later Luffy and company face the mysterious guardian of the isle of strange animals and the diabolical Usopp. Usopp is a chronic liar who claims he commands an army of 80 thousand men when not one man is to be seen.

Two conflicts have come off the main pirate invasion on Usopp's village. Django, Captain Kuro's former first mate, pursues Kaya to force her to write a will, while Zoro and Usopp race to save her. Meanwhile, Luffy and Kuro go head to head on the shores of the island. The consequence of losing is death. And the prize in winning may be a ship for the crew to call its own. In the end it all comes down to which pirate is true to the code of the sea.
