WL-500g Premium rear

ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated (Asus) makes a series of powerful network routers directly competing with routers from Linksys and Buffalo.

Asus series of routers generally ship with Broadcom chipsets, faster processors, more memory, removable antennas and USB ports for expansion. Although their factory default firmware is feature-rich, it’s still not considered very stable and powerful enough compared to its hardware. Open source Linux based router firmware projects such as Sveasoft,[1] DD-WRT,[2] OpenWRT,[3] FreeWRT[4] and Tomato Firmware[5] are able to get much better performance out of Asus routers.
