Seems that this deletion template is also mentioned in a really disturbing way off-wiki too. I really regret the way a specific user with no contribution (revert and advocating in incident boards isn't off course contribution) and disturbing past continues a childish (today also provocative) activity.

Welcome

Hi, Alarichus. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  14:49, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Fantastic work on Snorri Thorfinnsson, especially the family tree.

Great to have you as a Wikipedian!

I've given the article a brief clean- it could do with some more categories, and especially some more details about his life. What did he do in life? When/how did he die? I've upgraded it to start class, but some more information about his life would be needed before it could be considered a C class or B class. For instance, it's not really clear what makes him a significant figure. You're welcome to contact me on my talk page or rejoin the help channel if you need any more help. J Milburn (talk) 15:21, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Snorri Thorfinnsson

Updated DYK query On July 31, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Snorri Thorfinnsson, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Thanks for your help....

Hello there - I made the changes you suggested and wanted to know if you could take a look at my subpage again to see if there was any other changes/additions that needed to be made. Clairetastic (talk) 22:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. --Alarichus (talk) 08:41, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Almost there...I think

So I added more references, internal links and the musicians infobox you told me about. How do I actually add the photo? What other changes do I need to make? Once I am done, how do I move the article and publish it? Thank you so much again for your help. Clairetastic (talk) 23:25, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To upload the photo click here . Follow the instructions on that page. To publish the article click here . Just copy/paste the content from your sandbox. Every time you want to write an article that does not exist, just search for the title of the article in wiki. If it doesn't exist, you will see above the search results "You may create the page "xyz", but consider checking the search results below to see whether it is already covered". Then just click the link. --Alarichus (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted questions at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Ernesto_Basile regarding the wording of the hook, the image and the reference used. Please respond at your earliest convenience. Binksternet (talk) 15:59, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I missed the end of our chat; I had a ph call. Yes, anyone can review DYK.

I tried to send you a memo on IRC, but couldn't because your account on IRC is not registered - you probably want to register it. Type /msg nickserv help in IRC for info.  Chzz  ►  20:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Licensing question

If I have a photo of Brian Riordan that was shot by his friend who is a photographer and they are for Brian to use for press and articles. I don't know what type of license to use. Thanks Clairetastic (talk) 19:19, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Use this one [1].

And choose one of the free licenses.--Alarichus (talk) 19:52, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article you asked me to look at

Hey, I just added some commas, apostrophes, and generally fixed some minor stuff in the article you asked me to look at. One part I thought was funky (which may have been brought up in the peer review, I don't know, because I haven't read it) is the line that reads, "fending off one invader or other and quelling rebellions". I think maybe it could be changed to "fending off multiple invasion attempts" or something. "One invader or other" sounds a bit awkward.

Also, the phrase that says, "came to fruition in his promulgation of the Constitutions of Melfi" sounds like it may have been plagiarized. I'm not saying you did it, but that whoever did should probably be careful. I read through the whole thing, mostly looking for punctuation and grammar stuff. I found a few things. I also split the "See also" section into two columns. Feel free to remove that if you don't think it is a good idea. The article is looking good. Killiondude (talk) 01:11, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

None of those phrases was written by me. They are from the 12k version of the article. I should have changed them earlier. Thnx for pointing it out. :).--Alarichus (talk) 08:22, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I fixed those two phrases, what else, needs to be improved? --Alarichus (talk) 08:37, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Existing page

Ok so I have read through the article and uploaded the photo and think I am all set and ready to publish. Is there anything else I need to add and/or edit? I see that there was a page for Brian Riordan but it has been deleted. Is it ok to paste in that page? Will it still publish? Thanks Clairetastic (talk) 18:17, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The previous version of the article was deleted because it was considered advertising. The current version(the one you wrote), is not advertising. So I suggest you go on and copy/paste it. If you want to discuss this issue with the admin who deleted it, join the IRC channel of english wikipedia [2]. His username is Closedmouth. --Alarichus (talk) 18:43, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your presumably semi-automated edits

I don't know what you're trying to do with edits like this one, but it seems to have broken template parameters, capitalization ("20Th"), and category sorting. If you don't explain, I will rollback all of these edits. --NE2 18:39, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably some mistake of the MOS fix. Thnx for telling me. It fixes without problem MOS issues in plain text and refs, but has problems in templates sometimes. Thnx for telling me, I will be careful not to choose template parts next time.--Alarichus (talk) 18:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can you explain which part of the manual of style you are applying? I see no substantive changes. --NE2 18:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
MOS changes don't necessarily have to be "substantial" as you say. Space fixes, alphabetical categorizing of language categories, etc. are MOS fixes. --Alarichus (talk) 18:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And which of those did you do here? All I see, other than the errors, is some spacing changes, which I don't believe the MOS has anything about. --NE2 18:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It fixed the double spaces issues, didn't it?I accidentally probably chose a template part or a similar one. You saw a mistake? Fix it. --Alarichus (talk) 19:01, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What "double spaces issues" are these? I do plan to fix it, by reverting all of these edits, but figured I'd talk with you first to make sure that's the best course of action. --NE2 19:03, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn' suggest that because you would also revert the corrections, which are the majority. I suggest manual edits on the template parts of the articles which have such issues. --Alarichus (talk) 19:07, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You have yet to show me any "corrections". All I see is addition of spacing, which is not prescribed in any way by the MOS. --NE2 19:18, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Double spaces between sections are against wiki guidelines. But if you want to rollback them, do it.--Alarichus (talk) 19:26, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Where in [3] did you remove double spaces? --NE2 19:39, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sections and their headings should have only one space between them. In the article most of them had 2 spaces. --Alarichus (talk) 19:43, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're going to have to tell me which section, since I don't see any double spacing in this old revision. --NE2 19:45, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It added spaces between all titles of headings and ==. In the upper missisipi saparated with space image and template check in the riverback section for double space etc... This is getting pointless, if you want to rollback, just rollback. I am not interested in the issue. There more important things in wiki, than discussing spaces. --Alarichus (talk) 19:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it added spaces, which is pointless. However, it doesn't seem to have removed any double spacing. I'm rolling back now; please don't make such edits again. --NE2 19:59, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I won't. I thought this integrated firefox fixer worked, obviously it is a bit pointless.--Alarichus (talk) 20:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Please use edit summaries

Hi there. Could you please remember to leave edit summaries? It's more important than you may realize. Thanks. -- œ 18:34, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do remember their usage, its just that most times, I'm the only one expanding an article, so I leave a summary when I finish editing the article in its entirety. Anyways, thnx for reminding me. --Alarichus (talk) 19:10, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Alarichus. Would you consider to mark your articles with {{underconstruction}} tag? This version of the article Jan Ligthart is almost empty and someone could to nominate it for speedy deletion as an article with almost no content. --Vejvančický (talk) 08:44, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you were late 1min. I added the { {underconstruction} } tag, 1min ago. :)--Alarichus (talk) 08:46, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, I honestly apologize. Keep up the good work, Alarichus. --Vejvančický (talk) 08:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. :D--Alarichus (talk) 08:56, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your time reviewing Vikos-Aoos National Park. I will make the appropriate corrections/additions in the next hours.Alexikoua (talk) 20:02, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the review page, the article passes the quick fail criteria (as per [4]], the 6 criteria for nomination are checked just after the article passes quick fail criteria assessment). I can't understand why it wans't put 'on hold' for a short period in order to make readjustments &corrections.Alexikoua (talk) 05:48, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because it didn't pass the neutrality and verifiability criteria to an extent that would require major editing. When it is improved, it can be nominated again. --Alarichus (talk) 08:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found some apparent oddities regarding his usual titles (with caveats: I am NOT a specialist of 17th century Frenh nobility). I've left comments on te talk page. The primary problem is that he seems not to have been referred as "Lorraine-Commercy" at all by the French, nor much by the referenced titles. This makes researching him in French from the indications in the article very difficult. Circeus (talk) 02:16, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I answered in the talk page --Alarichus (talk) 08:27, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Names in Marble

Hello, Alarichus, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Names in Marble, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Scythe, I think you used the wrong template. I'm not a new user. I have 5 dyk, and 1 ga. And I have created 6-7 articles. I have added { {underconstruction} } on Names in Marble. Dont be quick to judge before running a google search, if you are not familiar with the subject. This is one of the most popular books in estonian literature. During Soviet rule it was banned. There is a film about it which in 2002 became a major box office hit in Estonia. :) --Alarichus (talk) 12:03, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder why a number of articles was removed from this template, since there are enough sources to point out that they are relevant with the title (Greek populations in that towns etc, their polyphonic tradition...). During the last weeks two users (7 times blocked in 2 months) User:I_Pakapshem and (6 times blocked in 2 months) User:Sarandioti, use systematiccaly irc [[5]], since they have received a revert limit on such issues due to edit warring, wp:npa, wp:incivility. (I have a number of emails that confirm their activity in irc, as their only means to receive attention).Alexikoua (talk) 06:00, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:I_Pakapshem, has asked assistance mainly in uploading images several times. Some users in the irc have provided such assistance. He joined the channel, and expressed his concerns regarding the template. I do understand your concerns, however, the issue must be checked neutrally. The polyphonic songs part was removed because it is not a distinct elemnt of the greek community. Some of the settlements were also removed, because there were no references, indicating a greek community in them, and because in two cases, the reference was not reliable. I would suggest also, to explain thoroughly in which settlements the greek community is a minority and in which it isn't.--Alarichus (talk) 08:28, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will contribute in the teplate's talk page. Actually this geographic region is of multi-national background (mainly Albanian, Vlach & Greek), according to 'rs' bibliography. According to my view a template about a minority's geographical&cultural background doesn't exclude the other local national elements in the same area.Alexikoua (talk) 08:51, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns

Seems that this deletion template is also mentioned in a really disturbing way off-wiki too. I really regret the way a specific user with no contribution (revert and advocating in incident boards isn't off course contribution) and disturbing past continues a childish (today also provocative) activity.

I will post some more information in admins noticeboard. Moreover, I wish some other users had a greater variety of interests in wiki and not only creating battlegrounds on nationalistic issues.Alexikoua (talk) 00:24, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
