:(1) The list was not promoted because it had strong opposition from a number of regular reviewers. You can read that in the FLC itself. (2) By all means point me in the direction of any articles that you consider need "serious work". Cheers! A request

Hey, if you're not too busy, could you provide one of your excellent and detailed reviews at Wikipedia:Peer review/Hurricane Bonnie (1998)/archive1? That's one of the longer articles I've worked on, so it's a bit rough around the edges and requires some uninvolved eyes. –Juliancolton | Talk 03:27, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Julian. Just back from hols. Yes, of course, as long as I have time between work and moving house, I'll see what I can do for you! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:04, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How come you're not responding to my messages. 03md 20:35, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, things are stressful at the moment. Not just on-wiki but in real life too. I'd suggest you crack on with good lists and let me know, I'll help you out on the way. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going away

Sort of. We're moving house tomorrow and need to wait for AT&T to send our modem and turn our DSL line on, so I may not be here for about two weeks. Will you and/or The Rambling Man be able to handle FLC closures and stuff? Best, Matthewedwards :  Chat  06:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also going away, I'll be gone at least until Tuesday. Will you be able to do closures this weekend? -- Scorpion0422 00:13, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take care of FLRC this weekend. There a few more I think I can close at this point. You need some help with FLC closures? iMatthew talk • take my poll at 10:54, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Also, right before you closed, someone got a support in at the last minute, so I changed the tally to reflect that. Until It Sleeps Wake me   20:41, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the warning. I thought bout it that when i edited it, but didnt believed it could be controversial. Anyway, thanks again :-) Tibullus (talk) 20:48, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious

I was wondering why you made this revert. Please understand that I have absolutely no problem with your edit. I'm just curious as to whether it was related to the IP's block or if it was just the outright silliness of their edit. Thanks for your time and for looking after my page. See ya 'round Tiderolls 23:12, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Both. The IP was editing around Wikipedia like an idiot and the message he left you was nonsense so I removed it. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:27, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/IWGP Tag Team Championship/archive1 is promoted, you'll have to add the article to the re-promoted list at WP:FFL. Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 22:35, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TRM, are you willing to do the closures at FLC in about 15-18 hours? --Cheetah (talk) 03:10, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FLRC

Hi TRM, I'm about to go to FLRC closures. I was wondering if you thought this was a good idea: Let's hold a small election to determine my new FLRC co-director. I'll invite our regular reviewers to offer a statement on why they should be picked, and between you, me, and Matty, we'll pick one candidate each to run in the actual election. iMatthew talk at 13:14, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I felt that was necessary because we're likely to have a lot of offers, but we don't have a lot of people that would vote. So if we just picked out three, we'd have a higher votes to candidate ratio than we would if we had six candidates say. iMatthew talk at 17:46, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Currently, there's three who offered to help. However I am worried that if we have a lot more people volunteer... But I guess that's not a problem. I'll set up a subpage and get back to you. iMatthew talk at 17:53, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Delegate election Done. I'm glad we're doing it this way, as it seems like the most fair way to determine a new delegate. iMatthew talk at 18:12, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know if/when I should announce it. iMatthew talk at 18:31, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done, do you think I should send a message to the FLC regulars letting them know personally about it? I'd probably use the list of people Scorpion mentioned in his "goodbye" statement. iMatthew talk at 19:16, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I've just noticed the vast improvements that you made to this article, which I started this time last year. Congratulations and thanks for bringing this up to Featured List status. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 08:38, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Off-topic, but reminds me of the comment that was made by the critics when Geoff Hurst was knighted – it set a dangerous precedent, as now they'll have to do the same for any other English footballer scoring a hat-trick in a World Cup Final... Off-topic (2), TRM, the dark blue capitals are fixed. BencherliteTalk 09:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Rambling Man and I both worked on the article. Thanks for your kind words. 03md 22:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWACs FLCs

Hey there TRM, I will try not to make any comment about Roy Keane while I am here... Whoops Just a note to say that I have withdrawn from Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of AWACS aircraft operators/archive1. The nominator believes that my comments are now a personal slight against him and as such I don't see how my continued involvement will be constructive in any way. I have left a summary of my issues, other reviewers can utilise or disregard them as they see fit as of course can you in or Matt in closing.

P.S. Hope Ipswich get back on track soon! ;) Woody (talk) 17:30, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Woody. Thanks for your note. Yeah, I've just quickly draft-read that nomination, it looks like it's headed downhill fast. As far as I can see, your objections are well-founded. I'll leave it for now, I won't be around this weekend (I'm abroad) so nothing quick will change unless Matthew does anything. I appreciate your kind words about the Town. Allegedly we were much better on Tuesday night, but still, second from bottom? Meh... The Rambling Man (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Small thing, I know FLC gets badly backlogged due to a lack of reviewers (I try to weigh in occasionally), but would you mind checking on the above-linked FLC? I've had it sitting at FLC for 16 days now, it's got 5 supports to no opposes and I've systemically dealt with everyone's issues. I think it's just been missed because of the large number of FLCs ahead of it that still need work/comments. Staxringold talkcontribs 22:24, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/List of snakes of Trinidad and Tobago/archive1 – looks like all the concerns have been resolved. Do you have anything more to add? Dabomb87 (talk) 01:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fyunck(click) deleting French names again

Greetings,

According to Wiki policy, editing on Wikipedia should reflect outside sources. Wikipolicy favors PLURALISM, or the accomodation of multiple major viewpoints. It is thus NOT acceptable for Fyunck(click) to be deleting names of the winners of French "Open" champions, prior to 1925. Many sources, from the official Roland Garros website to the World Almanac, ESPN, and Encyclopedia Britannica, list them. More than that, though, Fyunck(click) seems to either fundamentally misunderstand, or not care, about Wiki rules. His "excuse" for deleting the names of the French pre-1925 champs was editorial laziness: he was 'tired' of having to attempt to remove them from the "slam" counts. Of course, that in itself is a POV bias. The idea of the "slam" was not invented until the 1930s. The idea of "counting slams" (i.e. Roger Federer has 15!) didn't exist even as late as the 1960s (which is why Rod Laver moeve from "amateur" to professional, until the tournaments became "open" in 1968).

Roland Garros has been the most international, not the least international, of the four tournaments. Not only was Roland Garros the first to become an "Open" in 1968, the very first 1891 tournament was won by a British national (and several more Brits made the finals in the 1891-1914 period). When Roland Garros lists past winners, they begin with 1891:

http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/about/pastwinners.html

So does the Encyclopedia Britannica:

French Open (tennis) -- Britannica Online Encyclopedia Winners of the French Open singles championship are provided in the table. French Open Tennis Championships—singles. year, men, women. 1891, J. Briggs ... www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/219014/French-Open - Cached - Similar

So does ESPN:

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/history?type=men

These are establishment sources. Based on the above, we can say that Fyunck(click's) edits are NOT reflective of Wikipedia's policies or the outside sources, but instead reflects on himself. Such obstinacy is a violation of WP:OWN.

I would hope that a third-party invdividual might be able to help him "see the light"...or at least, the Wikipedia policies and guidelines.Ryoung122 08:07, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
