GCC6

Hello Tnxman307! This is Khalidco who is the author of the page GCC6 that was quickly deleted for no expressed reason. The indication of importance of this page is far greater than what can be measured from someone in Australia for example. The page will provide information about a web site that is going to serve a large population in the Arabian Gulf (GCC) countries in ways that have not been available not too long ago. Further reading of A7 makes me wonder if we are both looking at the same page. I am the develper of that site and you can verify that using tools such a domaintools.com which will display to you the adminstrative contact person's email. The same emil is used when I registered with WIKIPEDIA. I plan to add to it and improve the appearanse as we go along. It would be nice to see stats about visitors and locations in this universe. If you know a way to do that, please let me know.

Khalid

p.s. I think you should've replied to my previous response or at least respect the hang-on tag that I've placed before you killed it.

Hello.. I have modified gcc6 and placed it in user:khalidco/sandbox. I've always seen pages on wiki that are still not yet complete. Moreover, the reason for the deletion is specified as A7 related. I am sure that there are so many existent pages that you can arguably tag for that criteria or another. Please look at the modified page in the sanbox folder and let me know if it is acceptable to wiki admins. It would be very useful to wiki visitors who can benefit from the site's services. Especially the ones in that part of the world. Gratsi.

Hey Tnxman307,

I was wondering why you deleted the page for "Nathan Eswine". What was wrong with the page?

Your page fails the notability requirements; see the Wikipedia page on this. Triplestop x3 01:04, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What Triplestop says is correct. The article did not show why the subject was notable and did not include any reliable sources to support its inclusion. You may want to read our info on writing your first article, as that may have info that can assist you. TNXMan 11:54, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rajasthani Granthgar

Can you please restore this article? This publisher publishes books in vernacular language of western India and is a publisher of considerable repute. At the turn of last century Luigi tessitori unearthed a vast collection of dingal historical works which over the years were published by Granthgar.

The article did not list any information that would indicate why the company is notable and did not have any reliable sources that supported its inclusion. I would suggest reviewing the info we have on writing your first article, as that may assist you. TNXMan 17:16, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. I was in the process of adding all this info before the page got yanked. What should I do now? Start it again? One of the authors I mentioned earlier is Luigi Pio Tessitori. More random musing (talk) 18:42, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The best idea is to work on the page in a sandbox (something like User:More random musing/Sandbox) so you can improve it before putting it in the mainspace. After you've improved it, you can ask other editors to review it. TNXMan 18:55, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks will do that. More random musing (talk) 17:52, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tnxman307. You have new messages at Hell in a Bucket's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Why did you delete my page?

Dear Tnxman307:

You deleted my page recently posted stating factually information about our company and products. I wrote it very generically and factually without the use of marketing or promotional terms. I provided links to validify the contents including ones to the FDA and DoD.

I'd like your comments as to what you felt was not good with the page. I looked at several companies that are actually our competition and did nothing different than any of them.

Regards, Mary K. Williams (talk) 14:03, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but your article did not indicate why the company is notable. I would suggest reading our page on writing your first article and how to use reliable sources to support it. Furthermore, you should also read our info on conflicts of interest and why you should not edit an article if you have one. TNXMan 14:30, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up to - why did you delete my page

Dear Tnxman307 I appreciate your feedback and reviewed, as you suggested, 'notable'. Per the definition provided it gave: Notable means "worthy of being noted" or "attracting notice." It is not synonymous with "fame" or "importance." Please consider notable and demonstrable effects on culture, society, entertainment, athletics, economies, history, literature, science, or education.

Quite clearly we are not famous but indeed fulfill "worthy of being noted" or "attracting notice". Take for instance our certifications. The FDA and DoD recognize us. Furthermore we have notable effects on any number of the areas mentioned above. We have published studies done in prominent magazines.

If you would kindly review "OnBase" and "LaserFiche" you will recognize that they are no more notable than DocuWare; we all do the same thing and they are indeed listed. I appreciate your time and feedback. I wish you a nice weekend.

Regards Mary K. Williams (talk) 21:00, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ms. Williams, the problem is you are taking the first portion of the definition of "notable", which is not exactly what we use here. I see you omit the second part, which is, "Determining notability does not necessarily depend on things like fame, importance, or the popularity of a topic." In order to be "worthy of being noted", we don't use subjectivity to determine it - you say you "indeed fulfill" this, but by what criteria? Does anyone who sells a ware or a service fulfill notability requirements? Well, here at Wikipedia, we have set forth specific notability criteria for inclusion in the encyclopedia, as we are not just an indiscriminate collection of information. There is a set of criteria for organizations, put forth at WP:CORP. Please read this (rather lengthy) guideline page carefully. If you still think that this topic merits inclusion here, you need to be prepared to specifically state exactly how this organization meets the inclusion criteria. As it is, there is no indication that it does. However, perhaps you can tell us how we're wrong.
As an aside, by your use of "we", it seems you are affiliated with the organization. While this is not specifically prohibited, it is a bit frowned upon as your motive for wanting this article included is suspect. Is it simply to provide information for the advancement of human knowledge, or is there a conflict of interest here (please click that link) - does your organization stand to gain profit, monetary or otherwise, from the exposure? Please think this over carefully as well. Thanks for your time; I'm here to help, as is Tnxman307. Tan | 39 22:23, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Tan said pretty much every thing I would, except much better. TNXMan 23:25, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Irish PostCodes

You blocked User: Garydubh on the report of User: Bastun

he removed an entry on the basis that it was written by User:Garydubh - it was not - he is completely incorrect - please talk to the user who made the entry directly and avoid unfounded and unverified allegations in the future - doubt if he made any effort to check this out - just jumped to an assumption. Furthermore allegations that that user had COI entries in this aricle are also incorrect - the user has made no contribution to discussion on this article since Jan 2009 and has had not entry in the article since April 2008 - you used this as a justification for blocking the user - again completley incorrect and unfounded. The user in question has no further interest in this article.

He made reference to a personal name in association with the accused user - the personal name is not a user name - do not use it here again.

He made reference to a company name in a derogatory manner implying that there was some issue with the work of the company - do not do so again.

Finally, if the article is about the official postcode system of Ireland - then the article should be removed as there is no official postcode system in Ireland yet and the provision of such is subject to an open tender comeptition which wikipedia discussion may prejudice and undermine and open yourselves and wikipedia to legal action.

Please do not mention relevant user name, personal name, company name or product name on the article or related discussion without the permission of the relevant owners. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.108.125 (talk) 22:48, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing for which the user was blocked was for making a legal threat. That is strictly prohibited, no exceptions, ifs-ands-or-buts. TNXMan 23:24, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

News Public Deleted

Hi there, I have uploaded some information about the website www.news-public.com - we have been est for over a year. We are more than a blog website. We are Citizen Journalism website that allow users to upload articles, videos and photos. Out site is no different to sites like Newsvine, Now Public and is close to sites Yahoo Buzz and Digg.

My question is what makes news-public any different to Newsvines and Now Public, is it that we arn't a business? I feel we make the guidelines apart from the business status. Cheers Scot24 (talk) 17:22, 24 October 2009 (UTC)scot24Scot24 (talk) 17:22, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but the article had no indication of what made the website notable. Simply existing does not qualify a subject for an article. I would suggest you read our info on writing your first article and how to support it with reliable sources. TNXMan 17:40, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

News-Public.com

After reading the guidelines, I fail to see why the above article about the above news site continues to be deleted. We have tried all forms of posting for this news organization, only to be instantly deleted. I sense some bias here on a great level. I have been a member for awhile, but seldom come here anymore, or use Wiki as a source simply because of the bias I see here. I am co-owner of NewsPublic, hence my interest in this matter. Furthermore, the article that was submitted had no indication of why the website notable enough for an article. TNXMan 03:30, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question from JIm Pastore, Headmster of Island Academy International School

Dear Wikipedia monitor,

I am wondering why you deleted the entry for our school? I looked at the rules, and I did not post anything that is promotional. I did of course mention that our bursary program (which provides very poor children with admission to the school) exists due to donations from donors... but only did so in the context of explaining an integral part of our school, that of donations making it possible for poor children to go to our school. And this makes us very, very different from any other international school I know of.

I would love for you to take the time to answer me to explain why the article was deleted... I feel that having our school on the Wikipedia site is justifiable as I want to enable people looking for our school to be able to understand how we can do what we do for so many children.

I look forward to your reply as I also look forward to the reposting of our school page on wikipedia- of course respecting the rules and with your help!

Thank you and have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Sincerely, Jimperuzzo (talk) 15:39, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Pastore, Headmaster, Island Academy International School two emails: <blanked>

I'm sorry, but Wikipedia does not allow promotional material to be posted here. Phrases like "It is both rich and broad. Consistent with our mission, we provide classroom experiences that prepare students not only for university admission, but also for life as responsible citizens of a complex and changing world." have no place in a neutrally written encyclopedia. Also, since you have a conflict of interest regarding the subject, you are highly discouraged from writing/editing articles about the school. Finally, please read our info on notability and what makes a subject worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia. (I have blanked your email addresses to prevent the web-crawling spambots from picking them up.) TNXMan 15:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is a real shame. Of course when a school posts its mission statement, phrases such as the ones you object to will come up- mission statements inevitably use such language, and it would be remiss of a school article to not have the mission statement. I also agree that in general the "owner" of a company should not post about it on a site like Wikipedia. But how else am I do to so? Direct someone to do so? At other schools there is general someone who is a school employee who does the posting to Wikipedia... so perhaps my transparency is the problem in actually doing it myself on a Sunday morning.

Is it possible to repost and take out the offensive words "rich and broad"?

PS - thank you for watching out for me regarding spam. I don't usually worry about spam with my yahoo address as the filters are quite good, but of course I want to eliminate spam on our school sever where possible. Thank you.

I'm sorry, but the way the article was written would not be appropriate for Wikipedia. Mission statements should generally not be included in articles, as the goal is provide a neutral article that is based on independent third-party reliable sources. Your best bet, if you would like an article to be posted, is to read our guide to writing your first article and post a draft of the article in a sandbox in your userspace (something like User:Jimperuzzo/Sandbox). After you've written the draft, you can ask another editor to review it for you. TNXMan 16:01, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will do so on the sandbox. But as a very young school it is hard to have many 3rd party references/reliable sources to refer to. Thank you for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimperuzzo (talkcontribs) 16:10, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Electrolysis system

Mainly this article is an attempt to legitimize water-fueled car scams. The subject matter it deals with is on electrolysis of water and oxyhydrogen. G11 might not be the best reason to remove so I will take what ever advice you have to offer on what is the best reason but I'm sure this article has to go. I've included the text I wrote on the articles talk page below.--OMCV (talk) 16:15, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article rehashes material that is already better treated on electrolysis, electrolysis of water, oxyhydrogen, water-fueled car, among others. Furthmore written like an advertisement for gas savings scams and contains no WP:RS. This is prime for speedy delete.--OMCV (talk) 16:15, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I really didn't see any mention of a company name or anything like that, so I was not sure what it was promoting. Your best bet is to take the article to articles for deletion, where other editors can offer their opinions. TNXMan 16:33, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice I take this to WP:AFD. If I had to indicate what the article was promoting I would say its the articles first reference.--OMCV (talk) 16:45, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anna Odell

Hi, the page Anna Odell should exist on english wp. Her act (work) is the most discussed "art-work" in Sweden in recent yerars. See the swedish wp. http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Odell

Anna Odell Article
  • Article in the biggest newspaper in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter, [2]
  • Also in DN: [3]
  • Also in DN: [4]

Her work in Kalmar Art Museum, [5]

"As the first art institution in Sweden, Kalmar Art Museum will show the continuation of a work that has been one of the most discussed artworks in Sweden the last decade; the work by Anna Odell titled Okänd Kvinna 349701 (Unknown Woman 340701). On the 21st of January this year the artist simulated a mentally ill person on Liljeholmsbron in Stockholm, police was called by passing members of the public and she was taken to the emergency psychiatric unit of St Görans hospital in Stockholm, where she was admitted, put on medication, and placed in a restraining belt. It was not until the following day that Odell told the staff at the hospital that she had simulated the event and that it was part of a future art project that was going to be presented at the Graduation show at Konstfack in the spring of 2009. With her work Odell wishes to discuss and investigate Swedish mental healthcare, of which she has personal experience. Okänd Kvinna 349701 is based on an earlier episode in her life. This work was going to become one of the most debated art projects in Sweden and together with the video created by NUG called Territorial Pissing and the work by Oscar Guermouche called Vi vill åka till Moskva (We want to go to Moscow) they have now become known as “The Konstfack scandals”. There are a number of aspects to the art work of Anna Odell that gives complexity to her work, a number of possible interpretations and also many ambiguities. The actions of Odell can well be seen as a way to deal with past experiences and also as criticism of an area of which she has previous and extensive knowledge. But it can also be seen as an example of a private individual that fights back against a large institutional apparatus of power in today’s society. A case of David fighting Goliath. Maybe the discussions that has risen because of her work is a consequence of the fact that many of the institutions in society such as the artworld, mental health care and the education system – all with their own worldview and inner logic –are clashing internally as well as externally. The official institutions of society are here clashing with each other. It’s about who owns the preferential right of interpretation to define care, and about who is ill and who is not. But also in equal measures who has the preferential right of interpretation of what is allowed in art and what is to be viewed as quality. Even the legal system has hit back from its own inner logic and Odell is now being prosecuted for “False alarm”, “Fierce resistance” and “Antisocial behaviour”. The whole thing has turned into a gigantic struggle between some large institutions of society, a struggle about who ultimately has the preferential right of interpretation. In the end, the works of Odell can be seen as a discussion about what is possible within the field of art. A discussion that to a large extent has been taking place outside the established art world. What is art about? For who is art made? What sort of art is it that we want, really? Has the artist some kind of freedom? Artists, doctors, ministers, critics, civil servants, politicians, philosophers and well-known and not so well-known columnists, editors, bloggers and so on have been giving us their views from a number of varying positions and perspectives. This debate has in many ways been able to demonstrate what kind of cultural climate we have in Sweden today."

Deletion of pages/not logged

You deleted my page Avatar and not lagged it in? Why ? It contained usefull info abouut the movie avatar. Pluss I spent about an hour , on my iPhone , working. I'm only asking why. If you mean this page, you'll see the deletion log clearly marked. Secondly, calling someone names isn't a good strategy when you're asking questions. Finally, the page was deleted because it did not indicate why the website was notable. TNXMan 00:31, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YES! International

Could you offer any advice for the page you recently deleted for the charity YES! international. It had been posted for aproximately 6 minutes and while I was writing the hold-on tag/message, the page was deleted.

I am a beginner with Wikipedia, have read (and thought I understood) the guidelines, but could still use some help or advice about improving the article (or if it is ever possible to meet the guidelines).

For some of these following reasons, I thought the charity might be notable:

  • In the 80's the charity hosted some large, well publicized events celebrity events to bring toys to needy children in San Francisco and Timmins Ontario.
  • Was recognized by United Nations, Unicef, and UNEP as an Internet Exemplar. (Canadian Who's Who - University of Toronto Press)
  • Participation on the Board by first CEO of Air Canada (his bio is on Wikipedia) and former CEO of Heinz foods
  • Ongoing work around the world and
  • annual awards styled along the lines of Nobel prize

Also, As I don't expect you to "do all the work", are there other place(s) where I can ask for help in writing the article/offer the topic as a suggestion?

If so, is it appropriate to post the deleted article in my personal space while in development and can this be shared with potential authors?

Thanks for any help.

John.

I'm sorry, but the article was written like an advertisement. Furthermore, there were no independent reliable sources that demonstrated why the organization is notable. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article. You may want to re-write the article in a sandbox in your userspace (something like User:Vzmedia/Sandbox) so you may work on improving it. Finally, the fact that your username matches a website design company leads me to believe that YES! may be one of your clients. If that is the case, the guidelines set out here may apply to you. TNXMan 02:24, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you input.

  • I will change my user name a.s.a.p., as this has nothing to do with clients (I'm unemployed) or web design - I just thought this was a helpful and straight-forward topic for a first article. Is this possible, or should I just register again with a more plain name?

I will post the article in a sandbox and ask for further input but please clarify if possible - I'd rather not spend time on an impossible task as I've already spent two days reviewing the guidlines and researching each point.

  • You mention " was written like an advertisement " but there was nothing to sell and it was written as a chronological history of the organization. What part should change to avoid being considered an advertisement?
  • It seems I should include more detailed information on sources - I agree. I referenced the recognition by United Nations, Unicef, and UNEP. I checked their filings with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency before I started and their budget is a few million (so as not to be a small group as defined in the notability guidelines). The University of Toronto Press includes a reference in their encyclopedic "Who's Who of Canada" that I can add. There are awards from America Online and Yahoo but they are for the website and not the organization (so I left that out). There is little news coverage for this charity as they are rather small, but the Wikipedia notability guidlines state that being small should not prevent inclusion. Does it seem worth a second try or will these sources clearly not meet the standard for reliable sources ?.

Thanks Vzmedia (talk) 03:21, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, let me say that by asking these questions, you're already far ahead of other article authors here. The thing to look for in sources is a)independence (cannot be published by the subject itself) and b) significant coverage (must be more than passing mentions). The Who's Who probably won't meet the significant coverage part. Are there any news articles or published interviews about them? Those would go a long way towards covering both bases.
Secondly, the advertising. All Wikipedia material must be written from a neutral point of view. Paragraphs like

"In 1992, Friday's Child International's first satellite hook-up between New York City and Toronto, Canada, became an experimental success in effectively using interactive television as a means of enhancing communication between youth in all corners of the world. FCI's young people quickly became the stars and producers of their own media deliberation on the social ills they were facing. The chairman's extensive background in television production and international lecturing prepared her to capitalize on the technique of creating excitement. Her instincts set out the architecture for what would become the essence of FCI's future successes: Distance Edu-InFo-Tainment!"

aren't very encyclopedic. The best idea is start with very basic statements of facts and avoid peacock terms. You can build there. If you have questions as you go, just let me know. Best, TNXMan 03:29, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll work on it in the sandbox for a few days and ask for a quick check when it's ready. Vzmedia (talk) 14:16, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal: Deletion of the page Tony Wang

I understand that the problem with the page Tony Wang was that it was not considered that this fashion designer was notable enough. I did not get time to finish citing additional sources to meet this requirement. Now the page is gone. How can I create a page and populate it with enough content if I don't get enough time? How can I create the page for Tony Wang? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zelysion (talkcontribs) 02:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Listen here big guy, dont get so fired up because youre probably some fat guy who sits around going through people's wikipedia pages all day. I try not to be a jerk to anyone. I'm sorry if you've gotten the opposite impression. As for page deletions, a few sections above this one, someone is making a good effort to create an article about YES! International. Instead of complaining, they've asked how to go about it and which guidelines they should be following. That's the best way to get an article on Wikipedia. TNXMan 03:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm done with you man. I just found the Wikipedia help booth on google and I'm going to call them and complain about you brother. You've been a real butt and have been of no help. It looks better, but it still needs a lot of cleanup. The "Early Life" section should probably be pared down quite a bit, as most of the info isn't supported by reliable sources. The "Fashion Designer" section, as it stands, should probably be completely removed, as there are no references there at all. The last section seems the most supported, but could be cleaned up some. Do you have a reference for the part about the Bloomingdale's VP? The mentions of the two ladies he interviewed don't hold up as much, since they don't have articles here and being a #1 search result isn't an indication of notability. Finally, you shouldn't use the subject's own website as a reference. I hope this helps. TNXMan 11:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up to - why did you delete my page (2)

Hi Tnxman307. I have read in detail all the pages you suggested and would continue to debate my position. To answer your question would be difficult because I do not believe there is a yes or no answer. I’d like to think that I’m not alone in the world since I believe in “maybes” and “what ifs” :-).

To further my discussion with you on notability I offer the following for your review. Is it not notable when something (either a product or service or idea) is bettering our culture and ultimately forming history? This generation and I dare say, these times, are yearning to do what it can help the ecology and better our standards of living. Why not look towards the future by improving daily work habits so that we can enjoy life and allow time for creativity? I challenge you to ask yourself: what if there was something that could help the healthcare industry to lower costs and provide better care? What would the impact be? Is this not something society would refer to today and maybe tomorrow or maybe even next year?

I totally agree that Wiki is not for advertising. Stating true facts that are referene points for knowledge is what I would think Wiki was searching for. This is all I offered in my posting.

I await your reply. 24.39.153.124 (talk) 15:59, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It may be notable in the larger sense of the word, but Wikipedia has a much narrower definition of what makes something notable (and thus worthy of inclusion). In order to be notable according to Wikipedia, a subject must have received significant coverage in independent reliable sources. If the article cannot offer that, then it cannot be posted here. As Tan mentioned in the section above, the relevant page to review is here. You should also read our info on writing from a neutral point of view. TNXMan 17:10, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Brendel Sr Deletion

Hey!

I was just wondering why you deleted the Michael Brendel Sr page I made. I read the article that Wikipedia put up about it's speedy deletion, but thought I added enough stuff to correct it.

The page that they tell you to go to said that the person I was writing about needed to be a scholar or have recieved a notable award or honor. I added that he had received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Theology and later acquired Doctorate Degrees in Ministry and Divinity. I also said that Mr. Brendel was written about in the Who's Who in America two years in a row while living in West Virginia. While in WV, he started a Bible college, Mountain State Baptist College. He also was the Principal of a Christian School for two years and an Administrator for six.

I was just wondering if I could try to make the page again and see what they say. Thanks!!!! Tales From Thaer (talk) 01:17, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Tales From Thaer[reply]

Sockpuppet? Farrier and horse hoof articles

Tnxman, FYI I saw that you blocked the user name "American Farriers Association." No sooner did you do so than someone created User:AFA-CJF and immediately began editing more horse hoof-related articles (Laminitis, etc...check contribs). I can tell you that the AFA is a real organization, and mainstream, but no idea, of course, if this user actually has anything to do with the group (the creation of a sockpuppet hints that they are not.). Your call what you want to do about this username, and I will review the actual edits (I'm one of the "hardcore" members of WPEQ) for content, but figured that as you stuck on the block of the first user and the new one may well be a sockpuppet of the first, you'd want to know. Montanabw(talk) 02:34, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is indeed a sock, as indicated here. However, the block I set on the original account did not limit account creation, as my hope was that they would create an account whose username was not associated with the group. I have left the new account a COI notice. If you would like to report this elsewhere (possibly WP:COIN?), I have no objection to another admin stepping in, but I don't think it's a blatant username vio. Thanks for the heads up!
