Deletion of the majority of the FN FAL

You have removed a significant amount of material from the FN FAL page. I and others have spent a signifianct amount of our personal time over many years contributing to this page. The random deletions you have made now renders the page confusing, incomplete, and of much less value.

What are you plans to correct this?

Why should we contribute our time as a Subject Matter Expert if our effort is to be deleted?

Please explain. G. Scott 23NOV10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottgs (talkcontribs) 18:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I've removed most of the material because it was not sourced. Wikipedia is not a place for original research and all material in articles must be reliably sourced. If you have reliable sources for material, let's discuss it on the article's talk page. TNXMan 19:02, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I do not have the time to spend discussing something that is obvious. What you are doing is clearly detrimental to Wikipedia. I will remove my "unsourced" information and spend my time where it is better valued. G. Scott 23NOV10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottgs (talkcontribs) 22:32, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Since I can only reply on my talk page, it's unlikely you'll go back to see it, so I'd just thought I'd let you know I've replied to your decline. 96.50.86.207 (talk) 19:51, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I can't really stop now that I'm started, I'm afraid. It's a pretty unjust policy, so I'll just have to exhaust every avenue, talk to every single person I can find. You think I'll get noticed or just ignored? 96.50.86.207 (talk) 20:14, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

You may get blocked for avoiding your block by editing anonymously. Your best bet is to wait for another admin to review your request or email unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org. TNXMan 20:18, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

User:OCMuseumofArt is back after block, doing same COI username edits

User talk:OCMuseumofArt is now editing as User:OCart on the same Orange County Museum of Art article. Still the same COI and username issue. Didn't want to bite and block them again on the same day, without asking your opinion as you did not block as spamuser but a softerblock allowing them to change. -- Alexf(talk) 20:46, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I was kind of hoping they would get the idea. I'll leave them a COI-welcome notice on their talk page and see where it goes from there. Thanks for letting me know. TNXMan 20:58, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
No prob. I'll leave it in your hands. -- Alexf(talk) 21:16, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Section headings

Please note the caution at Wikipedia:TPG#New_topics_and_headings_on_talk_pages (particularly the part under "Keep headings neutral") re the naming and criticism of users in section headings, which appear in logged edit summaries. LeadSongDog come howl! 21:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Umm, thanks? I'm not sure if this is in response to a specific section somewhere, if it is, I'll be happy to review it. TNXMan 22:51, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Right here, actually. See the section immediately above this, for one instance. While it is your talkpage, it is still a talkpage. 'Nuff said? LeadSongDog come howl! 00:33, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Actually, no. The section to which you linked is specifically for article talk pages. If you scroll down, there is a section specifically for "user" talk pages, and it does not list any restrictions on headers. Furthermore, a neutral header bringing my attention to an administrative action I performed earlier is something I encourage. TNXMan 12:48, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tnxman... about a month ago, you ran a checkuser on User:Dashing boy31, which resulted in an indefinite block for him and his sockpuppets... Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dashing boy31/Archive. He now appears to be avoiding the block, editing as User:UnbeatableIndia2020. Is there a prefered course of action in circumstances like this? Cheers, Catfish Jim & the soapdish 10:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

The best course is to reopen the SPI case. There should be a link to do so from the main SPI page. I'll be able to post some more findings there so we can keep it all in one place. TNXMan 12:54, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thanks... took a while to figure it out (I was looking for a specific 'reopen' button), but it's done now. Cheers Catfish Jim & the soapdish 14:25, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

I would be very grateful if you, Sir, could at least help in my "cleaning up" of, i.e. that is the removal of my older replies POST the "Block" at, my Talk Page. Got something NEW I would like to say, and to write. Thank you. (I am not sure some others really care, but at least I have tried my bit, and that is all that matters. The Spirit hey?!) 83.100.154.46 (talk) 14:33, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

SuperAwesome question

If you wouldn't mind, I'm trying out my bit, and want to make sure I'm following a reasonable process. (I was going to pick on a differnt admin, but as you were involved in this one, it made sense to ocme to you.) I saw User:SuperAwesomeYeah in the Username attention list. I looked enough to see that it refers to the name of a t-shirt store. So a straightforward indefinite block is in order. (I still wish we could find a gentler way to accomplish this, but that's a post for another time and place).

However, I see User:SuperAwesomeYeah/SuperAwesomeYeah, a draft in progress. Spammy as is, but not in mainspace. I urge editors all the time to start drafts in user space - they still have to avoid copyvio and attacks, but they don't have to meet notability and eliminate spam right away, they have until they are ready to move to main space. It isn't in article space, so it isn't a CSD candidate or even an Afd. If it belongs anywhere, it belongs at MfD. Technically, the blocked editor could create an acceptable new name and continue working on this draft. I won't bet a nickel it will ever be cleaned up enough, but I don't think that's for us to say. I generally like to give editors with a user space draft a year with no activity before I would MfD it.

However, it would seem odd to have to wait a year, or whatever interval is usually appropriate in this case. The editor may come back with a new name, and start a new user draft in their new user subpage, whether starting from scratch or copying this material. If that happens, this can go. The editor might continue editing this page in its current location, in which case there will be activity and nothing to do. Or the editor might ask for the current draft to be moved to a new user subpage, but is not likely to know to ask. I'm tempted to post something to their talk page.

Sorry, I'm rambling a bit, but wondering if there is an established procedure in this case. I note the New_admin_school discusses blocking of inappropriate usernames, but offers no guidance regarding userspace drafts. I'm thinking it might be useful to add some advice, but want to know what the standard procedure is.--SPhilbrickT 17:27, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

The standard procedure is... not established! I think your idea of posting them a note about the draft and what their next steps would be is a great idea. We may be able to incorporate that into the softerblock message (the one that I used), perhaps as a switch. If the block is set to |draft=yes or somesuch, the block message will include a note about what to do with the draft. TNXMan 17:42, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt response. I'll work up some suggested language for the admin school , and some language which would go with the switch you suggested.--SPhilbrickT 18:02, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
A revision of the Admin School curriculum on this subject is a good idea. This is an issue that needs to be standardized, or at least discussed. Maybe you could open a section to discuss at AN? -- Alexf(talk) 18:55, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
I can also drop a note at UAA, as {{uw-softerblock}} is most frequently used there. TNXMan 19:05, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

River Valley Ground Search and Rescue Deletion(A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject

Tnxman307 I would like a detailed explaination of why River Valley Ground Search and Rescue was deleted. Your reason listed is (A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject) Which can not be true as A local Ground Search and Rescue team quite obviously has to do with Search and Rescue.

Glad to see someone who is happy to help out an organization which is on call 24/7 365 doesnt get paid and risks their lives to save others who have gone and gotten lost or injured.

[edit]-Note I have just re-read the "definition" of why it was deleted and realized I miss understood it at first however as I am the VP/Training Officer and The executive search manager for the group this was created for would it be possible to see the content that had been posted and who posted it?

Please help fix to make article publishable. Only used "original references" for anectdotal information. Primary thrust of facts cite to "Cape Cod Times" and Government/Institutional public records.

Thank you Smallbrook (talk) 16:19, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

I think the page you should review is this one, which gives advice on what to do once you've made a article draft. You should also read our page on writing from a neutral point of view, as the draft you've written is very promotional. TNXMan 16:25, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Kelly Quealy, Choreographer

Please forgive the "newbie" errors. I would appreciate your review of the article on Choreographer, Kelly Quealy. Please do not confuse entry under "List of Choreographers" as I evidently placed the cart before the horse. Presumably, once the article is published I can add her to that list.

Thank you for your help and support. Smallbrook (talk) 17:26, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

About deletion of StNotepad Touch article

Hi,

I am multi-touch user. I am impressed with StNotepad Touch software which has been released few days back. Since Multi-touch is one of the latest technology and I found this software as the first of Multi-touch text editor, I don't want to miss the chance of posting article on Wikipedia.

First I have prepared the article in text format by meeting your standards of text editor articles. Then I tried to post in Wikipedia while posting I tried to upload the image after adding that text. Hence I saved the page, then I tried to upload the images but I did not have the permission. I continued editing the article within that time I got a warning that it has been deleted. I tried to rebuild the page, but it has been deleted. So, please inform me what are the contents I have to remove, since you have mentioned that (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion). I tried to maintain the standards of other text editors article in wikipedia. I dont want to miss the opportunity to write on StNotepad Touch, as I mentioned earlier "Multi-touch is one latest technology and I found this as first Multi-touch text editor". I am waiting for your reply. Rodriguezjuanjose52 (talk) 18:58, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but your article was deleted because it was advertising. Phrases like "...precisely designed for editing normal text on multi-touch machines. This software's aesthetic look and feel is competing with the beauty of modern laptops, tablet and slate pcs." do not belong on a neutrally written encyclopedia. I would encourage you to read our guide to writing your first article. TNXMan 19:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi,

I removed the sentences you have mentioned, I searched for other sentences like them but I did not find them at that time. But the article got deleted again. Later I searched again and again I found that "Hence this software can be used as a surrogate for favourites in web browsers." and "This menu has been designed with multi-touch devices in mind, to provide intuitive access to common editor functions." .

I tried to recreate the article but it has been blocked. What are the next steps I have to take? Is there any other problem in the article, should I remove the cnet and softpedia links from the reference?

Awaiting for your reply.

checkuser expressions

Hi, from your comment at a recent report, what does it mean in checkuser terms when you say .. appears to be unlikely? Off2riorob (talk) 16:20, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I can only really speak for myself, but when I use  Unlikely, I mean there may some sort of scenario where the two accounts are the same, but the chances of it are slim. Say, for example, one user's IP geolocates to California and one user's IP geolocates to Michigan. Is it possible they edited in California, hopped on a plane, got to Michigan, and started editing with a new account? Maybe, but it's really... well, unlikely. That's how I use the term, although other checkusers may use it differently. TNXMan 16:26, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that. Off2riorob (talk) 16:28, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

About Deletion of StNotepad Touch

Hi

I am requesting again since I have not got the reply last time.

The article I posted is disabled for recreation, I have modified the article by removing the sentences those are provoking advertise. What is the next step I have to take?

I found that "6. Consider creating the article first in your user space. As a registered user, you have your own user space. You can start the new article there, on a subpage; you can get it in shape, take your time, ask other editors to help work on it, and only move it into the "live" Wikipedia once it is ready to go. To create your own subpage, see here. When the new article is ready for "prime time", you can move it into the main area. (Note: the Article Wizard has an option to create these kinds of draft pages.)" in the webpage "Wikipedia:Your first article". Shall I try posting the article in this? What is the procedure to add in userspace? I am waiting for your reply. Am I eligible to get a reply? Rodriguezjuanjose52 (talk) 10:11, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Can you expand on why you do not believe the evidence is convincing? Please do not if it borders on outing or anything like that, of course. To me it appears more likely than unlikely but I understand that it is not at all clear. Is it possible to run the checkuser (if you did not) or would that not be appropriate and/or not possible for some reason?
On a side note, I feel a little bad for not trusting the user since he has been handling himself better (mainly the ongoing settlement issue) since this was first mentioned.Cptnono (talk) 21:54, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
I and another checkuser did run a check on the two accounts. A combination of data (location, IP addresses, etc.) made it seem, well, unlikely the two accounts are operated by the same person. TNXMan 12:45, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes thank you. One last question. Obviously, the evidence that I have reveals personal infomation about the two users that they may not want revealed. How does one go about bringing the action without violating their privacy rights? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jiujitsuguy (talkcontribs)
If you're interested in pursuing the case, I would go ahead and file it. You could make it clear when you file that you have private information that you would share with a trusted admin, in addition to any other evidence you have. TNXMan 21:29, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I have gone through the link which you have provided. But I have not understood the correct requirement for reliable resource. I have given the references as its homepage, softpedia and cnet. But in the Notetab article references is not provided and only the external links are provided which involves its homepage, its company website and some discussion groups.

Shall I give reference of StNotepad Touch articles posted on other websites?

Rodriguezjuanjose52 (talk) 18:21, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

If they other websites have provided an independent review, then they could be listed. However, simply republishing a press release or software notes would not be considered reliable. TNXMan 18:27, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Warning

Well I just recently made a post to that discussion while you were writing my warning which is completely unfounded and one sided considering the same user called me a nazi and has called me several other things in the past which have all gone completely unnoticed. OneKind

Hi There,

Thank you for getting in touch RE the OneKind page. I work for the charity and the page is very much out of date, we have rebranded as OneKind and many of the sections are no longer relevant. Is there any way I can edit this to demonstrate the new era for the organisation? If not, is the easiest option to have it deleted altogether?

I really appreciate your help, as the powers that be have asked me to look into this ASAP.

Best,

Martin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.137.96 (talk) 18:39, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I've tried to keep some of the changes you've made, as they do appear to be relevant (changing name to OneKind, updating the title, etc.). However, other changes you have made appear to be promotional material, which is not allowed. You should also read our information on conflict of interest, since you indicate you work for the organization in question. Finally, the article probably will not be deleted, as it appears to be notable enough to warrant inclusion in our encyclopedia. TNXMan 18:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

OneKind - Follow up

Thank you for the advice, I did not read the material around Wikipedia properly and I apologise for that. Sorry.

Is it possible to have a couple of bits of information deleted, they are the main areas of concern. We are no longer associated with Jane Goodall. In addition, the article identifies the Duke as being active. Unfortunately, he sadly passed away in June and the Duchess is active.

I appreciate any advice. Thanks for helping me out. I am new to wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.137.96 (talk) 18:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

I've updated the bit about the Duke and Duchess. However, I've left the part about Jane Goodall - she is a notable person and her affiliation with the organization (though no longer current) should be mentioned. TNXMan 18:54, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

OneKind - Part 3

Thank you. I understand that on Jane Goodall. Am I permitted to edit any other elements of the article at all? Just tidying up really around our name etc. Are we able to mention our five programmes of work or does this count as self promotion?

It says "Advocates for Animals in its current form was established in 1990", it would be better as "OneKind was formerly Adovcates for Animals, which exited from 1990 to 2010."

I greatly appreciate your help and I will be more aware of the rules of wiki in future :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.137.96 (talk) 19:03, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

If your five programs have been mentioned in an independent reliable source (which describes the program, not a re-print of a press release, etc.), they can certainly be included. I've updated some of the information you mentioned, including the logo. TNXMan 19:28, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks - OneKind

Thanks so much for your help with all this. I am much more aware of the rules now and will ensure they are adhered to in future. Thanks for your patience and assistance. 92.23.137.96 (talk) 19:36, 6 December 2010 (UTC) Martin

Help page: Wikileaks

I started editing the response on Wikileaks as well, but I mispelled something and had to go back after my preview and by that time you had answered. I think I'll put it in an editor so I can simply paste a response in. :)Naraht (talk) 19:47, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

You should respond anyway! More responses are always a good thing and let people know there are several editors available to answer questions. TNXMan 19:56, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Did so. Having said that, I *really* like the help templates...Naraht (talk) 21:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Xavier Musketeers mens basketball

I work for Xavier Basketball and I am trying to clean up out wikipedia page. I saw you made some changes and I was wondering what I need to keep my revisions?

Mjmercurio (talk) 20:29, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

The best idea is to add reliable sources. The info you've added appears to be factually correct, but is unsourced. You should also read our information on conflict of interest, as that appears to apply to you. Remember, Wikipedia should be a neutral record of facts, not promotional material for the program. TNXMan 20:35, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you... I was working to add all of the citations after I put all the text up. I'm guessing you prefer the citations are in there before anything is posted. Mjmercurio (talk) 20:47, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

I added some citations and cleaned up athignt hat might me construde as "impartal". I am a first time wikipedia user and I appreciate your patience. Mjmercurio (talk) 21:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

No problem. It looks like you're doing a good job adding references as you go. TNXMan 21:11, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! How long does it take me to gain rights to add some pictures? Mjmercurio (talk) 21:15, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

You'll need to be registered for four days and made at least ten edits. Be careful, though - images are very tricky. I would suggest reading our image use policy as well as this page (in case you want to donate copyrighted pictures). TNXMan 21:17, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Plasmon

I'm pretty sure whoever Plasmon is just edited from Lexigator's account (see SPI case on Ian Salisbury). Could you recheck for a link between them? Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 20:34, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Some new information has come to my attention - however, I would like to discuss with another checkuser. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that until later tonight. I will be able to post more then, but I'll have to apologize for the delay in the meantime. TNXMan 20:37, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
There's no urgent rush as far as I'm aware. I was just pointing it out so the thread doesn't get closed based on incomplete evidence (I have no idea how fast SPIs progress usually). Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 20:47, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
No problem. I added a note to the discussion indicating the same thing I mentioned above. TNXMan 20:49, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
I've updated the SPI page. If you have questions, please let me know. TNXMan 23:27, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
