Josh Klinghoffer (born October 3, 1979) is a musician, record producer, and rumored to be thecurrent guitarist for the band Red Hot Chili Peppers, though no official announcement has been made. He is a former member of Ataxia. He has toured with, and played as a studio musician with, numerous artists, including Beck, the Butthole Surfers, Golden Shoulders, Gnarls Barkley, Jon Brion, Neon Neon, PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sparks, that dog., The Bicycle Thief, Thelonious Monster. Vincent Gallo and Warpaint. He is also known for his numerous collaborations with John Frusciante.

Klinghoffer is perhaps best known for his work with his friend John Frusciante. He has regularly contributed to Frusciante's solo albums and has a joint album with Frusciante called A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence. Klinghoffer and Frusciante have also collaborated with Joe Lally from Fugazi to form the band Ataxia. Ataxia has recorded two albums to date: Automatic Writing and AW II

Klinghoffer also toured with Red Hot Chili Peppers for the Stadium Arcadium album tour as a second guitarist. Most recently, Klinghoffer worked with John Frusciante again to add his skills to Frusciante's 10th solo album, The Empyrean.

Josh's most recent project is the band he founded, Dot Hacker, of which he is the songwriter, lead singer, and lead guitarist. He has also been rehearsing with Red Hot Chili Peppers since October 2009.
