There is an official Japanese cartoon wiki page now http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Cartoon_%28band%29 I don't know how to link it but would if I could as it would be helpful for those wanting more info on the band. Currently though there is not enough information available to start a subsection on this article to elaborate on Wasalu's involvement with the band, but there is a brief mention.

Beginnings of rap music

Where it says he learned about rap, it says he was first put off by the vulgarity of NWA's lyrics, then was turned on to the lighter side of rap in 1996 when listening to Nas' album at the age of 17. But in 1996 he would have been 14, assuming we have his correct date of birth. Am I missing something? Also under influences section, Lupe reference to Street Fighter in Gold Watch is improperly quoted it is stated that he hates Zangief not Vega in the song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jed Bartlet (talkcontribs) 20:48, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What?! I think you're looking for conservapediaRotovia (talk) 00:49, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lupe isn't even a skater so why does it say he is on this article? That needs to be edited.

2005-2006

It says "The album featured production from Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mike Shinoda, The Neptunes, and more." Jay-Z is not a producer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.161.9.49 (talk) 04:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

his acurate birthday, proof of a online video interview, is on the 16th of febuary. Not the 17th. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carnageraiser1 (talkcontribs) 17:10, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It says here he is an "avid skateboarder" and then on the Kick, Push article there is an unsourced quote saying he is not a skater and the song was metaphorical. Which is accurate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.14.100 (talk) 03:52, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic faith

To which division does Fiasco considers himself to be part of? Sunni, Shia? Or Sufism? Maybe Kharijite? --Soetermans | is listening | what he'd do now? 10:54, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he is black. Maybe he's a member of the Nation of Islam?

Dude did you just seriously write that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.230.82.144 (talk) 03:29, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LUPEnd

Is going to be a triple album. The "E" stands for "Everywhere" the "N" stands for "Nowhere" and the "D" stands for "Down Here". Lupe himself announced this at a halloween concert he held on October 31st. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yeezy09 (talkcontribs) 12:18, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate

I have removed the birthdate information out of the article as an edit war has started over it and no two reliable sources either exist or claim the same birthdate:

This needs be discussed and agreed on before being re-added. Mfield (talk) 04:51, 24 December 2008 (UTC) According to his own website bio[1], he was 25 when that was written in Oct 07 so that confirms the 1982 date at least. Mfield (talk) 04:53, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war? Overexaggeration. TV.com is automatically out since it's user generated. As for the other three… That's where the problem occurs. DiverseMentality 04:56, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, its better to prevent a war than have to deal with one later on, that is what this page is here for after all. Didn't notice the TV.com was user generated but the rest are hardly bastions of reliable fact either. Mfield (talk) 05:00, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

February 17, 1982. DiverseMentality 05:01, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That definitely trumps the others on the reliable source front, well done. Mfield (talk) 05:09, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, thank you. Googling "[person and birth date]" usually comes up with a reliable source somewhere. I just wish Allmusic (my main source for birth dates) had it from the start to avoid these problems. DiverseMentality 05:18, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just a Lupe Fiasco fan so I don't know how the protocol for this Wikipedia thing works but if you are a fan you know that his birthday is the 16th....He said so himself 2 days ago.... 2/18/09

{{editsemiprotected}}As of 11/16/09, Lupe stated in a video interview that his birthdate is Feb 16:

The Yo! rap awards

Don't meet the notability standard without a reliable third party source or mention. As it is, every time they have been added they are backed only with references from Yo!'s own site. They have not been covered or reported by any other media judging by Googling. I don't think they are notable enough for inclusion without some sort of reliable confirmation that they are trusted or respected. With every magazine in existence printing 'Top 10' lists and awards for this and that, more is needed than a self reference. Mfield (talk) 02:32, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV? / Cleaning Up Lead Section

"Prominent hip hop mogul Jay-Z describes him as a "breath of fresh air" in a new hip hop world characterized by mainstream pop and glamour, a sharp contrast with the widespread lyricism-focused rap of the 1990s, and critics have called him the "Hip-Hop Generation's Next Vanguard.""

First off, the lead sentence describing Jay-Z as a "prominent hip-hip mogul" is giving him undue weight in an article not about Jay-Z. Readers can just go Jay-Z's page and learn about him, which is why his name is wikilinked. Second, following Jay's quote calling Lupe a breath of fresh air, I highlighted the following, because it is either the rest of Jay-Z's praise that did not continue to carry quotation marks, giving a reader the impression it is the article's author(s) giving their own opinion, or it really is an opinion added by an editor, which does not belong in an article. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 04:14, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That problematic passage was also copied-and-pasted from this press release and inappropriately referenced and linked, so I've removed it. We should find better and more authoritative sources for critical praise. I think Jay-Z called Lupe a "breath of fresh air" on Ed Lover's show, but I'm not sure. --Junius49 (talk) 17:45, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Album Title

Lupe himself has mentioned on numerous occasions that his new album is titled 'Lasers', not 'We Are Lasers'. http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=41544

Why does this keep getting changed? TheGoogler (talk) 22:35, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page protected

The page is locked due to an edit war so please discuss the issue, I'm giving you 72 hours, but look at WP:RS, the source (almost like a forum of some sort) doesn't to be one of the most reliable ones, maybe a better source would be necessary. Thank You. --JForget 22:59, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Purple picture

We don't need that third picture. It's already in the awards article.Osh33m (talk) 18:37, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's no policy restricting the use of this picture. There are plenty of articles that use the same picture. Alicia Keys, Alicia Keys discography, list of awards and nominations received by Alicia Keys all use the same lead photo, as well as John Legend and list of awards and nominations received by John Legend. Saying it's "not needed" is your point of view, which should have been discussed first before removing the picture several times. — Σxplicit 18:41, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We don't need it because there are SO MANY pictures of him in the article, there's like 3 - if they don't help explain then we simply do not need them. You need to get rid of some of them in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.129.97 (talk) 16:31, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar issue

Under 2009-present: Lasers, there is a grammar issue. The line "The track, entitled "Fire", is as Lupe stated, a taste of why he will take the number..." should be: "The track, entitled "Fire," is, as Lupe stated, a taste of why he will take the number..."

Fixed. Next time, Be Bold, fix it yourself. --Junius49 (talk) 22:03, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please add this to Lupe Fiasco's wiki —Preceding unsigned comment added by Breeze89 (talkcontribs) 07:28, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the release date for Lasers to TBD as at the moment it seems as though the situation with the album has become extremely bleak. We got an "official single" for The Great American Rap Album before we got one from LASERS which suggests that The Great American Rap Album is going to be Lupe's third full length studio album. Keep in mind that as far as we know Food & Liquor 2: TGARA is not completed (as Lupe himself said he just mastered "Go To Sleep" a few days ago) it is far too early to post a set release date for either album. Official word from Lupe and/or someone at Atlantic is necessary before any further claims are made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.53.169.48 (talk) 06:55, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
