Pansexuality (also referred to as omnisexuality)[1] is a sexual orientation, characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love, or sexual desire towards people without regard for their gender identity or biological sex.[2] Some pansexuals suggest that they are gender-blind; that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.[3] For others, an individual’s sex, gender expression, or gender identity can be a key factor of attraction, despite the pansexual individual’s wide range of sex and gender attractions. As defined in the Oxford English Dictionary,[4] pansexuality "encompasses all kinds of sexuality; not limited or inhibited in sexual choice with regards to gender or practice."

Compared with bisexuality

Bisexuality is often described as attraction to both men and women.[5] Pansexuality has been described as a "means to skip the binaries and essentialism of 'bi'."[6]

Some people assert that bisexuality means attraction "regardless of gender", or "more than one gender".[7] These definitions match the definitions of pansexuality and polysexuality, respectively.
