The song follows a simple chord progression based in the key of [[A Minor]], following the chords Am,F,C for the majority of the verses, except for a section at the end of the verse which follows Am,F,Em,G,C. The chorus follows the chord pattern of Am,E,F,C, with the ending line "Hear the soldier groan, we'll go at it alone", following the chords C,F,Em,G and C. It should be noted that the G# in the E chord during the chorus is not part of a key change, but rather an [[Accidental (music)|accidental]].

"Intervention" is a song by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire. It is the third single released from the band's second full-length album, Neon Bible. The single was released to digital retailers on December 28, 2006, and was released as a 7" vinyl in the UK under Rough Trade Records on May 21, 2007. In the US, it was released on July 10, 2007, under Merge Records. The B-side of the vinyl includes a cover of another song from Neon Bible, "Ocean of Noise", performed by Calexico.

Arcade Fire performed "Intervention" on Saturday Night Live on February 24, 2007.[1] The song was covered by the operatic soprano Renée Fleming in her 2010 album Dark Hope.
